Dd and I are going back to karate tonight. Ds has to go with us--everyone who could watch him is either working or horribly ill. So he has to go and either participate or sit and watch. Ds has kept us accountable to our sit ups and push ups and not just once a day but twice. The first few days were fine, but holy moly did my abs burn this morning. We're supposed to say 1 sir, 2 sir, etc. and I was at 1 burn, 2 fire, 3 lava, 4 omg I can't take it anymore! But despite that I'd say there is huge improvement in my strength after just a few days. Dh helped me find a position that works for push ups so I can actually do 5 of them morning and night too. Still remains to be seen if we'll sign up. I'm really hoping ds decides to give it another try tonight.
I'm also going to try ice skating though. Dh and the kids already do that for 60-90 once a week almost every week. I skated as a kid and tried it a while back but it was a definite fail. My dad took up ice skating in his 60's and said he'd help, and I may do a private lesson or 2 to get to the point where I could do group lessons (my last attempt was that bad). The kids already love doing that so I just need to get my act in gear and join them at what is already working for a family activity.

Well I am a failure. The only thing I have going is that I worked out 5 days this week. Why is the food part so hard?[img src="http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/idunno.gif" class="smile" alt=" " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png"][img src="http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/idunno.gif" class="smile" src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png" alt=" "][img src="http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/idunno.gif" src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png" alt=" " class="smile"] I'm in the same boat. I just can't get it together, eating-wise. Everything is just so delicious!

raeoflyte, ice skating is a great idea! It can be a good workout. Maybe I'll see if we can find a night to take the kids.

I have only done about 50 squats this week as my exercise. I need to get motivated on exercising. I am doing better on my new eating plan so that helps. I am waiting to get on the scale until Sunday morning. I hope I have at least lost 1 lb.

I only drink beer if I go out now since it's cheaper.

Alcohol is one of my downfalls. Weekend food consumption is another.

It's Sunday and I weighed and I didn't lose any weight last week. I stuck to the diet plan 95% of the time so that is better than not sticking to it. I still have some left over Christmas goodies I am snacking on so that probably didn't help.
I need to find the energy and time to do my weight training.

It is hard for me to throw out the goodies. But when I don't have them in the house I don't usually buy them to bring home.

flamingo, did you run a marathon this morning? Nice work! Thanks! And No to marathon, haha. But DH and I were at the gym and there were too many people taking up the free weight and core area for my liking. So while DH forced his way in I spent some additional time on the treadmill. I’m all for new people joining my gym and getting fit. I just wish they were a little more considerate and didn’t take up benches and mats to set their water on while they do weird and unsafe exercises elsewhere.

Re: yogurt..... after doing a lot of label reading at the grocery store, I settled on a large container of full fat plain Greek yogurt - very little sugar and a TON of protein. I also picked up peanut butter powder. I love PB but do not love all the calories and fat. This morning I discovered that plain Greek yogurt + PB powder + a small dollop of honey = a delicious and filling breakfast/snack. Definitely packing that as my afternoon snack for tomorrow - 4pm is the witching hour, and with my commute I typically don't eat dinner til near 7:30.

I lost a couple of pounds this week. I’d like to be happier about that, but I know my weight can fluctuate a few pounds due to water retention, etc. I did however log all of my food this week in MFP, and was under my maximum calorie goal, so that’s encouraging.
As for fitness...meh, it didn’t happen. Does putting together a fitness contraption count? After putting it together I was a bit chagrined to find out I can no longer complete even a single pull up.

Weekly check in
Hit step goal by over 6000,
Weight is down by about 2 pounds. Let's see if I can keep it off.
This weeks step goal is 75000. Keep stress eating in check. Try to increase water intake.
Hugs to those who are struggling.
Have a great week everyone.

Weekly check in
Weight is up about half a pound.
Goals: 50,000 steps: Nope, short about 1,000 a day Track food in weight watchers app: I did horribly the first three days. We had a big family New Years party on Monday, and I had a hard time bouncing back. By Thursday I was back on track and did well through the weekend. Do Jillian Michaels workout twice: Did it once
Goals are the same this week. Hopefully I'll do better!

Gym day 1 today! I'm getting there earlier now and am going to work with weights and do part of the spin class on Monday and Wednesday. On Tuesday and Thursday I think I'll try and do abs and the elliptical. I need to go to the store too and stock up on oatmeal for breakfast and soups for lunches. My calorie intake needs to come way down.

had to skip my morning workout to use the time to finish up my Six Sigma online class. It is health-related, as in it will help me get a better job so I don't feel like punching/strangling people. Which would be bad for my (and other people's) health. I'm starting fresh with MFP this week. I can do this. I can finish a full week.

Damn, even getting in about 15,000 steps yesterday didn't put me in range of Chloe or Flamingo. DH was sick all weekend, so he was negative help around the house. The boys were both sick too. And Aly had terrible cabin fever & generally just a little shit. I don't think I've ever been so happy to come back to work on a Monday. For real. And I am going to sit on my ass and click buttons and drink my coffee and not move.

Ugh, my first week of the year has been a failure. Snow days, sick, sick baby, just bad all around for eating and activity. Good news I probably haven't gained much or anything since my appetite hasn't been good, I've just been snacking on stuff instead of eating meals. It's actually going to be warmer this week so hoping to get out and do some walking.

You have a lot going on in your life, and it's no small feat to get 15,000 steps in a day when life is calm! The weekends are my time to get steps in. I'm so busy during the week that I've purposefully carved out time on the weekends to "make up" what I think I've missed step/exercise wise during the week. I also don't have 3 young kids to keep alive all day/every day. Plus, I had some serious cabin fever from our sub-zero temps that I was content to spend extra time on the treadmill to avoid going back outside! Haha.

well I'm trying to take swasat's grazing advice to heart today. I guess it's kind of working. I ate a substantial breakfast (full cereal-sized bowl of oatmeal with a banana), had a cup of coffee at mid morning, and just ate my tuna and spinach sandwich. I feel fine, and I have plenty of snacks left to last me the day.

Eating is my downfall too. I am the designated family garbage disposal. I hate wasting food and we are really trying to keep an eye on that, so I end up eating all the random odds and ends for my dinner a few nights per week. And I tend to wash it down with some beers or wine, lol. Part of my no-spend challenge with DH will include alcohol. I am not buying more when I go for groceries. If he gets some, fine, but that will limit things because he doesn't typically go shopping. I tend to eat a lot of pasta/rice dishes for dinner because they are easy to make and the kids will eat them without fuss.
