has replaced "Happy Holidays" with "Merry Christmas' to the delight of the conservative perspective! www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/ad-thanks-trump-for-bringing-back-merry-christmas/ar-BBHaB2o?li=BBnb7Kz(please do not move this to the religion board.......this is a current events topic, or possibly politics and many Americans say Merry Christmas even if they are a nonbeliever) But some of us are chuckling over this regardless of the writer's obvious bias shown by their knocking the entire subject. Merry Christmas!

What bias and what a title. How do you know the person is a liberal? They might just be an atheist, agnostic, or someone who does not possess the need to make everyone say Merry Christmas just to make him feel better about his religious choice. I don't like being an ass, so I don't say Merry Christmas to Jews or Hindus for example, unless they say it to me first. When did conservative Christians decide they prefer being assholes instead of polite? If this is a win for you, you've been doing Christmas wrong all these years. You don't celebrate Christ's birth in the Malls, at the grocery store, etc. You celebrate at church by worship. Those family dinners and opening presents aren't about Christ's birth, they are about the secular celebration for the winter season. Truth is, the far more important church holiday, Easter, gets much less press because its not celebrated or shopped for a month or more. Is anyone concerned no one at church will say Happy Easter to them? Are they concerned the commercial trappings outweigh the resurrection? Why did they not stop the Easter Egg roll at the WH this year because it does nothing to celebrate Christ's conquering death? What's up with that?

I never stopped saying Merry Christmas. Guess I'm a fine conservative. This biased ad makes me want to So Christian bring politics into Christmas.

That’s your take? About a pro Trump Pac running ads thanking him for ALlowing people to say merry Christmas again? Really. Did people not have control over their vocal cords until Trump became President?

It's always safe to assume everyone you meet during Advent is a Christian and celebrates Christmas as a religious holiday including women wearing burkas, and men with turbans and kippots on the top of their heads.

I never stopped saying it either. Don't know anyone who did for that matter...no matter their political leanings nor their religious ones or not!

Chris Hayes of MSNBC did some investigating as to who the girl is who said "Thank you, President Trump, for letting us say, 'merry Christmas' again." Chris Hayes, : "Backstory: this girl had been in prison for the last three years, after being prosecuted by the Obama administration for saying Merry Christmas at age 4." Chris Hayes

A president who understood the United States is more than just a nation populated by Christians. Good for him. Smart guy.

I feel like Christmas has become such a secular holiday that saying Merry Christmas to people is not offensive. At this point I don't know anyone who doesn't celebrate Christmas - Jewish, Hindu, Atheist. At best I’m agnostic and I celebrate Christmas. I say Merry Christmas because that is what I celebrate. If I know someone celebrates hannakuh (so?) I tell them happy hannakuh. If someone wishes me a happy hannakjk I wish them one back I think both sides act like assholes on this one.

What about it? Classy card from a President who was rational enough to understand that not everyone in the USA is a fundamentalist Christian.

I'm rather surprised that it didn't include some sort of veiled insult.

If I know the person is a Christian then for me it's been a "Merry Christmas"...if not sure, then never had a problem with a "Happy Holidays"...covers so much and for this poor excuse of a POTUS to make such a fuss over this..."f u "is what I might say to our leader...Is that a offense the SS would deem ok to take action against..?

That’s your take? About a pro Trump Pac running ads thanking him for ALlowing people to say merry Christmas again? I guessed I missed it...when couldn't one say "Merry Christmas"....Naturally if some wished me a "M C " , I always replied in same, even though I am not a Christian...felt why make waves and a "Happy Holiday" response didn't seem correct... Never had anyone say anything to me about " Happy Holidays " either. Ok, one thing it took me a bit to get over , a bit surprised...having been at friends homes when Christmas Presents were given out and opened and always were surprised as how all those beautifully wrapped presents, with bows and ribbons were attacked and ripped apart with little thought given as to the care folks put into wrapping them so elegantly...has happened many times, different venues...like a shark eating frenzy.. Please understand..non Christian here...not use to spending month or more purchasing presents for a clan and wrapping...just a observation.

"Xmas" is as old as Christianity itself. The X stands for "chi" in the Greek alphabet, the first letter of Christ's name, and it looks like an X. Nothing offensive bout it.

But I know some don't know that and want Christ in Christmas. Maybe the new evangelicals who don't seem Christian at all.
