Clearly off topic. Can we get back to the treason and mop up operation please? Mueller is going as fast has he can.

After the second or third time in a row of not having the facts straight before posting... ...with only one of those instances pertaining to facts relevant to my arguments, which is why I didn't bother looking them up. Regardless, an ad hominem is an ad hominem, and no, you're not doing me or anyone else any favours.

You would be well-advised to double-check before you ever disagree with me on facts.

My closing: Keep your criticisms specific, and make sure members you criticize actually disagree with you on facts before engaging them hostilely. If somebody simply isn't aware of something, be gracious in pointing it out, especially if their misconception isn't integral to their argument.

Barbs such as "Do you ever check facts before posting?", " You're becoming as unreadable as the guy I usually troll." are clear attacks on the person, not a specific statement, idea, or philosophy. They're meant to impugn credibility and belittle the intellect. Statements such as "Again you're citing facts in ignorance.", " You're wasting our time with your assumptions.", etc. accompanied by explanations of which facts/assumptions are in err, are legitimate counterarguments. the post in question didn't start that way, nor did it really contain any of the insults you claim. here is how it started: "Another useless response.
This is about campaign finance law violations. How is that an indictment of the entire U.S. justice system? "this is the equivalent of saying that you are straw man arguing. you are speaking to a subject that the post/thread doesn't have anything to do with. this is not only NOT ad-hominem, it is an appropriate debate tactic. the word YOU was never mentioned, nor was it even implied, imo. and your rebuttal is another straw man. you claimed that TG's reply STARTED with an ad-hominem. that claim is false. but you won't own it, will you? instead, you will probably accuse ME of ad-hominem.

So now Mueller is checking into my favorite villain in this story, Erik Prince, founder of the military contractor Blackwater (and brother of Betsy DeVos) and his special meeting in the Seychelles to allegedly set up a back channel method of communications between Trump and Russia.
Prince initially claimed he just 'accidentally' ran into an 'emissary from Moscow' and drank a beer with him. Turns out, not so much. www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-russia-seychelles/u-s-special-counsel-probes-seychelles-meeting-with-russian-washington-post-idUSKCN1GK0A0
Normally I don't wish bad things on people, but I admit, it would not make me that sad to see Prince get indicted next. The whole Mercer/Prince/DeVos 'big money means I can force my beliefs on the minions' crew can go, as far as I'm concerned.

I hate it when I'm traveling to a remote place like Seychelles and run into a Russian operative who just so happens to be the guy to establish a chain of communication. It just ruins the vacation vibe.

Aren't mods that so readily give instructions to others supposed to stay on topic? Where's R-Tn. when we really need him?

Aren't mods that so readily give instructions to others supposed to stay on topic? If I see one, I'll tell them. This thread is on de facto hiatus until something new and wonderful comes out of the Mueller investigation or Paul returns.

desii,
That's just spaghetoric. Boil up a word salad and fling it at the wall of the treehouse. If it sticks it will be revealed that 1000 deep state operatives have been frog marched to gitmo and that Hillary and Obama will be shot for treason.
PS: Virgil...I am aware that spaghetoric is not a real word. I simply made it up for fun.

They're meant to impugn credibility and belittle the intellect. Statements such as "Again you're citing facts in ignorance.", "You're wasting our time with your assumptions.", etc. accompanied by explanations of which facts/assumptions are in err, are legitimate counterarguments. After the second or third time in a row of not having the facts straight before posting in, what was the phrase, a "dismissive and insulting" manner I consider it far more a question than an attack, and a very legitimate question at that. Far better was the exchange in the CNN-Haab family thread, where you ASKED for explanation, accepted and presumably verified the facts proffered, and admitted that you had been misled by what had to be a slanted website. You will recall also that my response to that was entirely respectful, and a good discussion followed. That is an example that should be followed. i think i recognize the game after 7 years here: 1) i attempt to engage the poster in a rational and respectful way 2) poster responds with a series of red herrings and ad hominems 3) i reply noting that the poster has not addressed the substance of the argument 4) the poster responds by saying that i am engaging in ad hominem it is fucking ridiculous, illogical, distracting, and of no value in terms of debate. but what finally convinced me to ignore these posters was that i realized that i could argue substantively with others, and reduce my time here by 2/3 and my frustration by about 90%. of course, i am sure that they continue to attack me, but the difference is that it doesn't excite my defensive tendencies.

I think it will get more exciting for you. Hopefully a McCabe indictment to coincide with the Comey book tour. Maybe Comey could even contribute to that defense fund with proceeds from book sales. hotair.com/archives/2018/03/31/opr-report-mccabe-comey-different-recollections-leaks/"So he was asked, did you authorize this? He said no, not once but twice. Then months later he revised that statement. And now he’s claiming he not only authorized it but Comey knew about it all along. Only Comey says McCabe denied it to him too. And the fact that Comey criticized the staff for it in that Oct. 2016 meeting suggests he didn’t know his own deputy had authorized it. None of this looks very good for McCabe. But thanks to his GoFundMe, he’s got plenty of money to contest it all in court."

It is without the slightest exaggeration or hyperbole that I say that I hope he's got one helluva defense because if he's prosecuted just for what we know he could be charged with so far, he's looking at the very real possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison.
