Although I was surprised it worked with Gwyneth Paltrow. She was just a young actress starting out when he harassed her, but she had friends and family that were high up in the industry, you would think that would empower her to out Weinstein as a creep.
I would assume that it's the "casting couch" mentality that's been around since Hollywood was invented. THere are probably quite a few people in those circles that while deep down they know it's not right they consider it part of what you have to do in order to get ahead in Hollywood, especially if you are a woman.

I hope so, too. It's hard to tell from the stories since they are so conflicting. It seems some people in Hollywood are saying everybody was aware of his ways for a long time. Others are saying nobody knew. No idea which is the truth.
I'm pretty sure I recall he was a huge contributor to Mrs. Clinton's campaign. I believe he threw her 65th birthday party. Could be wrong. It's been awhile since I read it. So did everybody know or did nobody know? It seems common knowledge among the Hollywood elite that he's already paid off half a dozen women to keep them quiet. Stuff like that gets around. awareness is not complicity. you know that, right? i don't think that ANYONE that elected our dear, beloved president is a fan of his p*ssy grabbing.

Correct. I think that a lot of voters decided his personal life was just that.

Correct. I think that a lot of voters decided his personal life was just that. precisely. ditto for HW "voters" (people who worked with him, and saw his films).

We were told the same thing about Clinton. The women who accused Clinton of non consensual sexual misconduct did not make their stories public until after he was president.

It seems a stretch to compare people who have seen HW films to people who voted for Trump. I suspect that the vast majority of movie goers didn't even know HW existed before these accusations came out.

Weinstein was fired. No one has stepped up to defend him. Since conservatives voted for a serial sexual assaulter, apparently they are just fine with men who sexually assault women. I don't think all that many conservatives voted for Bill Clinton - you know, the guy the left loves to bring up as a great leader

Frankly, if I were married to Hillary, I'd cheat as well. Of course his cheating might have helped her on her way to what she's become. Chicken and egg.

I don't think there is much question that that's true. A vile disgusting pig is a vile disgusting pig regardless of where he works. There aren't like...degrees of vile disgusting pig....depending on your occupation.
I'd think if there were "degrees" of vile disgusting pig, it would certainly entail how many lives they have ruined or how much damage their did with their vile disgusting pigness. But one isn't worse than the other because of their jobs.

I keep thinking of how Monica Lewisky’s life has been ruined. she herself says that she was foolishly in love with the guy. that's on her. the fact that it was a breach of conduct for the president, and a violation of his marriage is on him.

"Ruined" may be a term of art. She has income, written books, had a television show, been a socialite, been on/in countless friendly television appearances and magazines. She gives speeches, got her master's, and is now making a living as an activist. Certainly her life took a very different path than it would have had she been chaste, but 'ruined' may not be the best description of her experience.

It was him or Hillary for most people. I sure didn’t want a continuation of the last 8 years but I loved voting for Mitch Daniels. I think he’ll be in politics someday. I sure hope so.

About 12 different women.
I re-read the article today about the woman who was flying first class in the 80's and sat next to Trump, who then kept grabbing her breast and trying to put his hand up her dress. She said he was like an octopus.
That's what Trump meant when he said on the audio recording that he couldn't help himself, when he saw a beautiful woman he just had to kiss her and touch her.

The New York Times article may be behind a pay wall for some. Weinstein and His Accusers Reach Tentative $25 Million DealDecember 11, 2019 After two years of legal wrangling, Harvey Weinstein and the board of his bankrupt film studio have reached a tentative $25 million settlement agreement with dozens of his alleged sexual misconduct victims, a deal that would not require the Hollywood producer to admit wrongdoing or pay anything to his accusers himself, according to lawyers involved in the negotiations. The proposed global legal settlement has gotten preliminary approval from the major parties involved, according to several of the lawyers. More than 30 actresses and former Weinstein employees, who in lawsuits have accused Mr. Weinstein of offenses ranging from sexual harassment to rape, would share in the payout — along with potential claimants who could join in coming months. The deal would bring to an end nearly every such lawsuit against him and his former company. The settlement would require court approval and a final signoff by all parties. It would be paid by insurance companies representing the producer’s former studio, the Weinstein Company. Because the business is in bankruptcy proceedings, the women have had to make their claims along with its creditors. The payout to the accusers would be part of an overall $47 million settlement intended to close out the company’s obligations, according to a half-dozen lawyers, some of whom spoke about the proposed terms on the condition of anonymity. Representatives for Mr. Weinstein declined to comment. Lawyers did not respond to requests for comment for board members and other parties. Mr. Weinstein is scheduled to be tried in Manhattan in early January on charges of sexual assault involving two women. On Wednesday, a state judge raised his bail after prosecutors accused him of mishandling his ankle monitor. While his criminal prosecution has drawn public attention, the largely hidden negotiations over civil claims have been far more consequential for many of his accusers, who include women from the United States, Canada, Britain and Ireland.
