I am hemoraging money but I don't feel like they are wastes. Just over the last few days: New swimsuit for DS (old one doesn't fit) Plain shirts for him (Walmart for $3 each) Hair, skin, and nails vitamins (there is a DEFINITE change if I lapse for too long) Kinky Curly leave-in conditioner ($15, but I tried a little last night and it is hands down the best thing I have used on my now very curly/unruly hair) Domino's pizza for $9 (so I could have a pizza and movie night with DS) Today I need to finish grocery shopping, so again, no real waste there. Just money out of my account.

I have just given up and thrown in the towel. This trip is killing me. Honestly, if I could go back in time, I'd just have not booked any of it. It has now exceeded what I have spent on every vacation in my life (or at least the past 20 years) COMBINED...for just an 8 day trip. And today I'm shopping for clothes for DS because the school decided to go to uniforms, so now all the shirts I bought him last year to meet the previous dress code are useless because he'll probably never wear them outside of the classroom.

No. 😂 You can only get these pickles once a month. As far as the other reason I doubt she'll get pregnant. I think she talks the talk but won't walk the walk. I think she's aware I expected grandchildren and since the girl we all hoped he'd marry just had a bridal shower, she told this story to take the heat off her. Just as well. I love my son but he's not father material and reading these boards and looking around at real life makes me realize how important good fathers are and how few there are.

Just kidding zib, what kind of pickles are they? There is someone at the farmer's market that only makes a certain "bread and butter" pickle in the spring. They are sooo good that they sometimes sell out before they make the stand.

They are sooo good that they sometimes sell out before they make the stand. They are extremely spicy. Even my son who can eat really hot food backs away from these pickles. They also do carrots and green beans and asparagus. I bought the beans and the asparagus for Bloody Mary garnishes. They kicked butt. Mean little suckers but so good. After my son tried a sample of the pickles she likes and almost died on the spot, I decided to not go there but she loves them.

That reminds me, I should ask for this recipe. While not hot, my mom used to make the most mouth-puckeringist Polish Dill pickles you could imagine. In contrast, sweet pickles are an abomination. If your eyes don't water when you bite into it, your pickle is no good. 😂

I like half-dills, pickled for just a few days, and still bright green. I make my own with kosher salt, vinegar, bay leaves, lots of garlic and dill.

I've been making what I called Bloody Marys for years - but with a few changes like a lot of smoky spice and a Clamato base. My Canadian friend informed me that they were actually Bloody Caesars. But she could have been wrong since she'd had 3-4 of them by the time she shared that fact. Whatever they are called, I like them.

My IL's (who are Canadian) make them all he time and they call them either Caesars or Bloody Caesars.

I tried really hard to spend money yesterday. The Renaissance Faire doesn't open until next week. The kids couldn't agree on an alternative plan so we just went home.

My ex never wanted kids but I wouldn't marry him unless we had children. I didn't bulldoze him into it as it was his choice to not marry me but looking back, if someone doesn't want children they should never have children. My ex is too selfish to ever put my children's needs above his own. he was like that when we were married but I took care of everything. Now it is an issue because they have one-on-one time with him and they hate it (more so my youngest...oldest is 18 now so now he wants to be friends

Both my kids are well aware that they were an inconvenience once he decided that playing "daddy" was a bore. DD was a novelty because she was a girl but the novelty wore off. I don't think either kid will have kids.

I spent 109e ($124) today on a down quilt for DS3. He will be living off campus next year and he will have a double bed for the first time in his life.
DS3 is used to having a down quilt because DH wanted him to have one when he was an older child. So I wanted to get him a good (but not fabulous) down quilt for the future. I went to Ikea assuming they'd be on sale. The guy at Ikea told me, our down quilts never go on sale here, they sell well all year round. So I bought a good (but not fabulous) one for 109e. DH tells me, that's outrageous!!! Really?! Even though his single one cost 79e?!
So I spent the rest of the day hitting several sales and trying to do better ... I didn't. That Ikea quilt was indeed the best value. It's 60% down and 40% feathers. The next step up was 199e ($226) for 90% down and 10% feathers, and there was no way I was spending that much. (I do think it's worth it if you keep it for 10-15 years, but we can't afford it.)
Also DS3 takes GREAT care of his things, so I know it will last.
I still have to get him a second set of sheets (we have one extra set) and a second pillow, but I'll buy those next month.

I haven't spent a dime today, whoa, I must be sick. And seems like I never spent anything yesterday was home all day.
Very unusual, likely will hit the net later, been seeing books online at Thrift Books. Likely will buy some of those later.
Working on the books seeing what we spent for fuel, food, and supplies to get that rent house ready is enough to stop the spending for awhile. Well and then there is that post office I have to pay for yet.

Spent $10 today on a corn cob stripper from Amazon for my SIL Angie. She does creamed corn in the summer but didn't have a cob stripper. Love not having to pay shipping with Amazon prime and 2 day shipping too!

Apparently, heat, plus time off, plus having a little OT money puts me in a spending mood. I'll cut back, but there is some stuff I just want.

DS really liked the Russian MREs, so I went ahead and bought a few more.

I was browsing craigslist earlier today while trying to cool off from some outside stuff (last I was in the heat it was 107, and it got hotter). I ended up making a call about a mid-arm sewing machine + frame (so you could use it similar to how you use a long arm quilting machine). It's $900, and after checking with my mom, I've decided I'm getting it. Good thing I mostly cleaned out the future sewing room recently! The frame can extend to 10 feet, so it can do a king size quilt. So, now I'll be able to do some more larger quilts, easily (I hope). The lady is only selling it because she upgraded to a long arm.

$400 for the tree service to cut down two more trees. The landscaper said they needed to be cut down so the equipment could get in the yard. He quoted $1300! Not happening!
