Highlights, haircut, styling with tip... $125.00. Only happens twice a year but....kind of a waste.

so! this is becoming to be a growing big problem I have. it appears that I am having a increased difficulty of staying away from a sale. I don't NEED anything! But this is Amazon Prime sale week! so I purchased only one Yankee Candle! The large jars are normally $25 to $28 bucks. I made a purchase with delivery for a total of $15!! I am so happy. that other bad news is I don't know what it smells like?

I wasted money on cricket food. I mean, it's not really a waste because we needed it. But there's something about having to buy food for a pet's food...

My Roomba came yesterday. Now we need to set it up so that will be done this weekend. DH didn’t realize it needed wifi to run and connect to a smartphone, so he didn’t like that.

I start my Roomba from my phone but do let it run when I am home. Even after 3 months of using it at least twice a week, it gets stuck every single time in the same spot. I doesn't fit under the sofa but it manages to get under it. However, it can't get back out. I now try to watch and when it heads for that area, I move it.

I always cruise the clearance aisle at Walmart when I grocery shop.
Around the 4th of July, they had silicone "ice molds" that create stars. I thought they were cute and would also work for jello stars for the grandkids. They were marked half-price, or 50 cents each. I was going to buy 2.
They rang up 10 cents each so I bought 5. I wanted to make jello just to use them. Lol.

I spent $5 on a large chai tea latte at Barnes & Noble. Spent 2 hours with good friends and met a very interesting man that stopped to participate in our conversation. All in all, great day.

Maybe not waste, but my mind is steel reeling, Nephew is engaged and the wedding date is March 9. Both sides of the family live in Charlotte, NC but Bridezilla MUST have the wedding in Charleston, SC. I'm traveling from KC. I want to be there; family is important to me and Dad is 87 and won't live forever. This is crazy, though. It's winter so I chose to fly. I'm taking an insanely early flight to save money and also because delays are more likely later in the day. I'm getting in a day early just to be safe (another hotel night). I just booked an airport hotel the night before and paid another $25 for a park-and-fly deal, which at least saves the cost of car service to the airport and assures that I'll be VERY close to the airport the morning of my flight. I'm already into this trip for $700 and Dad says hotels in Charleston are really expensive. So I can give them a cheaper wedding present because it cost me so much to be there, right? ETA: Just found their Amazon.com registry. It includes a $300 set of women's golf clubs. What kind of "wedding present" is that? I will not be buying "them" a set of women's golf clubs.

Dinner out. The stupid Red Tide is making our entire neighborhood stink so bad I can't even think about eating at home right now.

Are the seasons THAT different in KC? We have had snow in March, but it was once in a lifetime.

Last month we went to a local “destnation” wedding for DH’s niece. It was about an hour from our home~50 miles. MIL absolutely refused to go. She said if it was close to home she would have gone to church, but it was too far for FIL to drive. I had rented a hotel room for them, but I was pissed that I was paying for it and not my BIL. DH told her he would bring her back home after the service, but she said no. I figured she did not want to pull him away from the wedding for 2+ hours. My DD got very lost going there, it was in middle of no where. When she got there, she said Grandma was right not to come to this. We had to stay at an expensive resort. Rooms were $250. Wedding was not at the resort, so we still had to drive around on unfamiliar country roads.I paid for 2 rooms, would have been 3 if in-laws went. There was a regular shower + a bachelorette painting party. That was $40/per person, I paid for DD+niece+me, drinks were separate. I bought 1st round, DD 2nd. My niece also went to Nashville with her bridal party & had regular bachelorette party. The family is not rich, word is bride has $100,000 in student loans. Her family Mom, Dad, Brothers, Sil, nieces, Cousins, Aunts & Uncles (from SIL’s side) stayed at resort from Thurs-Sun. Her Mother is extremely mad my MIL did not go to wedding. It was for all intents & purposes the same as a “destination” wedding that was farther away. My SIL’s mother had a bridal shop dress on, but she never asked my MIL to go shopping with them. We will have another similar wedding next year, but that niece actually grew up and currently lives in area she is getting married in.

Talk about tacky. I’m unsure as to why hotel rooms were necessary as it was only an hour away. I’m trying to talk DD into being more considerate. If she wants a destination wedding then have one where there’s a decent airport and lots of hotel choices and prices. As it is, I’ll have to pay for a lot of family to fly as well as their hotel rooms. If she had it where I live a lot of expense would not be necessary bcuz family could stay with me or close by. Easy airport to get to as well.

I’m so over these destination weddings that give no consideration for guests. I witnessed the lack of consideration when DH’s bio had her wedding at a ridiculous expensive resort. Even surrounding areas were horribly priced. It easily cost guests $500 just to attend and that was if they only stayed one night. The middle of nowhere. DD is talking Savannah. Very nice but not major airport and nowhere near either of us. People that live in my area, like her friends as well as mine, it’ll be hard on them to travel there and expensive. So 90% of the guests will be inconvenienced. Ridiculous. Honeymoon there then but get married at home.

I got married away but it was in the middle of my hometown and where we live now. It was a 2-3 hour drive for most people. Rooms were $125 plus it was a Marriott so guests could use points, military discount, etc.
There was nothing big enough and nice enough where we live now to host 200+. Baltimore was super expensive and then parking is an issue. Same deal in my hometown with nowhere to have it that won't cost a fortune among the 1-2 places that could maybe accommodate us. So we had it in the middle where we went to college.
There was an airport close enough if you wanted to fly. Those from Georgia and Kansas still drove and just made it a big trip.
We got many compliments on the different facilities and that everyone was at the same hotel. We planned for everything to be close by and we had transportation to the reception.

We live in the Greater Milwaukee area. Family tends to drink. We try really hard to make sure family dosn’t drink & drive. Very few in family can afford those hotel prices. At this time I don’t feel we can afford it, but didn’t want to cause issue in family not going. If it had been held anywhere in the Metropolitan area, we could have used Uber for Transportation. Wedding held in middle of nowhere, no uber service. Hotels are resorts, very expensive.

Are you sure March 9 is winter in SC? South Carolina is pretty much the South. That is spring here. It is still pretty cool but rarely is it "winter"weather. Well, I hope you're right. I tend to worry a lot and I'm sure that snow in March 9 is not unheard of there (or in KC, my home airport or Charlotte, where I connect both ways). I just hope to get in and out of the airports on time. Look at Air B & B’s. Btw $300 is cheap for a set of clubs. I love Airbnb for vacations, but typically there's a lot of socializing among the family at breakfast when we're all in the same hotel. I'd hate to miss that and I'm also hoping to hitch rides with people so I don't have to add the cost of a rental car (and parking) into the mix. And I agree on the golf clubs but still thought that was a strange choice. I'm hoping they'll do a honeymoon registry later; I've bought whale-watching expeditions for couples honeymooning in Hawaii and Australia and giving experiences is more my style.

That is about what I would have thought. I don't know about the other places, of course. It just seemed odd to call weather in March "winter" when we used to do Spring Break in the middle of March. There are always exceptions, though. We still talk about the Blizzard of 1993, which hit in the middle of March and lasted a week. It hardly snows in Alabama so we were sure the world was coming to an end. In fact, our name for our "other" great blizzard, the one in 2014 where we were forced to spend the night at school with the students, is nicknamed Snow Apocalypse. That was in Jan., though.

I flew in and out of Charleston in February last year. 50-60s I'm thinking. I had no worries about snow. I was going to Myrtle Beach for my cousin's baby shower and that's more of a seasonal air route. I wasn't giving Delta $700. I flew into Charleston, rented a car and drove to the beach. I would have gotten a car anyway.

My second wedding was 2 hours away because I didn't want to get married in Phoenix heat at the end of May. Some people were excited, some people were non stop issues with it. People complained at my first wedding too and that was local. They would have complained if we'd just eloped too. Can't please everyone.

LOL Carpooling and designated drivers are the norm for weddings. If I had only my DH and I to worry about - we would have driven. I drove my son and his GF back to the hotel, she got sick before I parked the car, so 50 miles would not have been good in the car. There was a shuttle, but it only ran before the wedding and after the reception. My DH absolutely refused to take 2 cars and drop one off and then come back. The cars we had there were too nice to leave parked there overnight - a Mustang and a New Truck.
Zib, I am unsure what you were saying would normally have been paid for...I only felt my BIL should have been paying for a room for his parents all along. I also feel that my SIL should have been responsible to make sure my MIL had something to wear, not me. My MIL should have been invited to go dress shopping with them. She however is not a shopper, so she probably would not have gone anyways. I thought the bachelorette party that we had to pay $40 to attend was weird, but it was OK. One of my Nieces got married in Vegas, with just immediate family attending and her Dad (My Brother) paid for my Mother's travel. I think that is appropriate. LOL, they had an open bar for one hour between the wedding and the reception. They did toasts, but they did not serve any alcohol (Wine, Champagne) with the meal for the guests. I have not been to a wedding in years where they did not serve wine for a toast at the reception. It felt weird b/c it was such a fancy wedding and it would normally be expected.
I told my DD I was totally up for a destination wedding. I would much rather not go through all that planning and organization, and the $$ that could be put to establishing your long term financial security...yikes!
My niece that is getting married next year, is having her wedding in one of those Fancy Barns used for Weddings. I want to say my SIL said it is like $6,000 to rent the venue, but it is very nice and less expensive than their other options. My niece was talking to my Son and his GF about having a "Signature Drink" for her wedding and what it should be. This is something the Venue offers to the Bride and Groom. I am just so out of it. I have never been a big drinker, so I don't know anything about having a "Signature Drink" for a wedding.
