nsfw = not safe for work..
that one wasn't the reason i took it down because as far as i'm concerned, it was small, wouldn't be on the screen long, and not equivalent to looking at T & A pics or porn.
i DID take it down because someone i consider to be a friend was concerned about questions from her kids. i have an 8 yr old and i know he would ask if he saw it, so to me, that's a valid reason.

Hmm.. looks like it's working for me.. did you do it like this? (minus the * )? when you paste in the url, you have to go back and highlight it THEN hit the image icon.. that puts the code on either end of the url.. either that, or you do the image icon first then put the url in between like below.. [*img]www.cfotos.com/wp/wp-images/camilia_350.jpg[*/img]

Read more: notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=534&page=2#ixzz19T4OxmgyI can appreciate that. I have to say, however, that I have a 10 yr old and I do not let him on the Internet w/out my direct supervision. I also do no let him on ANY boards, so it's not a problem with me. I do understand, though that a child can come by and inadvertently see something that you would prefer he/she not.

I almost forgot. What happened to the dancing hot dog and other icons? Not even your friend could have possibly had a problem with those.

child can come by and inadvertently see something that you would prefer he/she not. i think that was the concern... as for the smileys you asked about, they've been relocated. if you use the full reply (rather than quick reply), and then look to the left of the box you type in, you'll see a little box.. it has a drop down to select a smiley, or you can click the link to 'view all'. the drop down doesn't have the viewable image but 'view all' does. i'm still adding to it, and the devil banana isn't in there yet..

Thanks, moonbeam. I'll try again. flowers-show.com/images/2009/09/tb_mecsek_yellow_flower.jpg[/img]Nope it doesn't seem to be working for me. I pasted the link, selected it and then hit the photo icon but nothing shows up. I also tried simply typing [*img]link[*/img] without the asterisks. No dice. Weird huh? Was working fine this morning. Ghost in the system? edited by moon to 'break' the code again since this pic is so large it's skewing the board

Marsha, pictures are ok here BUT, if you take it to an extreme and use it as a personal attack against the other side it can always be taken away from you...... Oh and so you know, even though I did not ban you from the other board, I did not take kindly to you posting a link and attempting to connect it to my diverdown34 alias...... VERY Low Class from you

i figured it out Marsha.. i went to 'modify' your post, just to see if i could see the link you were trying.. there was a space in between the first " ] " and the url... and that's why it wasn't working.. i just hit backspace once to get it like ]http.... and good to go.

moonbeam, what is "nsfw". BTW, you own the board. If somebody else gets their panties in a bunch over anything, you could always remind them that they have the rest of their lives to get over it. The "prudes make up 1/2 of 1%. They won't be missed.
I know that it's nice to be politically correct and all..but I agree with the above .. all pigs are equal , but some are more equal and not saying you are of the squealy family, by the work you put into this program, the constant work your doing, you is the boss and bosses have certain privilidges..don't be afteid to exert them , and if questioned, at times, ok to say , " because I yam da boss that's why".

I can't believe MSN Money Message Boards are going away, but I'm really glad people have stepped up and created an alternative!

See ya guys. I need to go figure out how to work things here. And, thx for the personal messages, you that have sent me a few. SO-- P&M is shutting down?? Great-- good riddance. They accused me of being a racist, and that really made me angry. Adios, amigos. Going to figure this place out now-- if I can cut out some time.

I know, probably a stupid question, but why would anyone want to post using different accounts? What would be the point?

dezi--I think Moon did it out of respect for this person. The person didn't ask Moon to get rid of it, just made a statement that she might not post much since she was a little worried about her son seeing the icon. Believe me, Moon is funny-as-hell and I don't think anyone could "make" her do anything, she did it on her own. I'm the same way with some things. I cuss like a sailor and I'm extremely crass, but not around my parents or religious friends. If I don't like you/don't know you/etc, I really don't care, but if I respect you/am friends with you, I try not to use language I know offends you. Not trying to speak for Moon, but seems kind of like that was the case.

"I try not to use language I know offends you."
I am the same way..when living in Texas , a co worker..great guy, religeous one, mentioned to me that my use of some vernaculer was bothersome to him..you can imagine, "lords name taken in vain" , that kind type, and I then really tried to watch my p's and Q's, to the point where he mentioned to me when we went to lunch together after, he appreciated it but a occasional slip up was fine, he didn't want me to expload. LOL But since then, I am conciouse of that, not wanting to offend , no need to.

thanks you apple, you summed it up pretty well. i tend to be a little bit too much like one of the guys both in terms of language, and general crudeness. i often do so just to make people laugh because they aren't expecting me to say the things i do .. and i do it with a straight face too, so that really gets them.. however, i do also try to be respectful of others' personalities and comfort level. i've been on the other end too as there is a guy that sits behind me that drops F bombs *constantly*.. and while i'm ok with it now and then, he gets pretty ridiculous so i will turn around and tell him that 'i really wish i'd remember that cuss can!'.. my way of telling him he needs to mellow out..
anyway i guess the point apple and i were making is that, yeah i may 'own the joint' so to speak, but if i don't respect certain things - like concern that my avatar is potentially offensive - people won't be here. and it was really no big deal to me anyway..

Well spoken, Moonbeam. There are so many ways to express oneself that a bit of consideration to the less "open" in the grey areas is usually the better choice. The community spans the virtuous to the wild and wooly types, so best to find that "happy medium" to keep most members content. Just makes common sense to me. As a long term member of the military, I have heard it all, so not easily offended. Yet a "balance" in verbage works nicely when we have a large mix of male, female, young and old to deal with. You have a great attitude and approach to reasonable conduct on the boards... a credit to all.

I used to teach in an alternative high school setting and had students using profanity. I told them that there were no inappropriate words, there were only inappropriate times and places for words. We talked about situations when the F word would be appropriate (e.g. dropping a stack of papers you had just organized). I told them whenever anyone used a word considered profanity, we would discuss whether the situation justified it. Profanity increased the first hour but after that they got tired of discussing it and when the occasional word would come out there would be a quick, "Not appropriate, please don't discuss it." ;D

Used to get in trouble for stuff like that all the time when I was teaching. I would be informed that we were attempting to get them ready for being on the job. I would respond, "I am. This kid plans on working in a lumber mill for the rest of his life."

Stop with the name calling 'EFCO'. SO it starts already!!!!! Do you really have the temperment for this Tenn? shocked You will notice Alex-no misspelled words on my part. No capitalizing words that shouldn't be capitalized (especially in the middle of a sentence no less)! No plagiarizing. No bold highlighting of words that shout "Look at me!" I think I have the temperament (not temperment as you spelled it) to moderate the boards. I gained a lot of banning experience last night. I am ready.
