From the article.
Forget the questionable tweets, the thus-far failed attempt to repeal and replace Obamacare and even the ongoing chaos at the White House. None of that matters when it comes to the long-way-off 2020 presidential election, according to former New York City mayor and billionaire Michael Bloomberg. Instead, it’s the Democratic Party’s ineptitude or ability to create a clear message that he says gives President Donald Trump a 55 percent chance at reelection. Bloomberg, who ran New York for more than a decade as an independent and came out against Trump last year, told The New York Times in a story published Wednesday that the Democrats never had a strong message for voters.
“Hillary said, ‘Vote for me because I’m a woman and the other guy’s bad,’ ” Bloomberg said. He said Democrats are having trouble finding the right platform while also suffering from a crowded field that has wild political aspirations. “They’ll step on each other and re-elect Donald Trump,” Bloomberg said, adding that there's “a 55 percent chance he gets re-elected.”

Michael Bloomberg's credentials as a political prognosticator are what exactly?

Michael Bloomberg's credentials as a political prognosticator are what exactly? He does have his own media empire, and did manage to get elected Mayor of NYC, so I would think he has a little more knowledge of the political landscape than many political specialists that are continually quoted in MSM. Give him credit, he thought about a run for the Presidency, and decided he could not win. Take it for whatever you want Just remember how many media outlets named Hillary the winner

Highly likely he will be an 8 year president. {{shudder}} Yes, the incumbent always has an advantage. The devil you know and all that. Furthermore, Mr. Bloomburg is right. It's not really public, but the Democratic Party is at a crossroads and the more moderate wing of the party is at odds with the far left/progressive wing of the party. I predict they'll overcompensate due to their hatred of Trump and nominate a far left progressive who won't have the broad appeal needed to beat Trump in 2020. A more moderate pick like Joe Biden would be better, but I don't think they'll go that route.

I've already seen a few political analysts saying things like Republicans are going to lose a generation of voters because of Trump, eerily similar to what we heard in October, and we all know how that turned out. Such grandiose statements are never true.

Over the next 42 months before the next election, the odds of trump winning might change just a bit, let alone trump him still in office by the end of 2018.

Biden was the only one that could have beaten trump. I don't think it was grief over his son that kept him from doing so.

It is a long way off. The Democrats need to energize, starting on November 8th of last year. The Republicans however, need to "stay the course", which is deeply troubling for them, given the proclivity toward chaos with this president. He believes he is right, and he believes in his gut. Either he will prevail in his efforts over the next two to three years, or he will be a spectacular failure. If he prevails he will look positively Reaganesque to some and will be the odds on favorite in 2020. However if he fails..... I was reading some commentary yesterday about how, the current atmosphere, with increasing stock market, tightening hiring, etc. ie the continuing of what was under O, are all perfect space for just doing nothing and staying the course and getting good marks, but even here, Trump can't break 40% approval in the aggregates and keeps shooting himeself in the foot... one recession, attack, epidemic, etc. anything, and who the hell knows...

AND, in four years he has to want to do it. Will he? He is 70 now, overweight, and in declining health. What will his golf game be like in 2020? What would it be like in 2024 if he continues to only play once a week? Even if he somehow manages to be surveying calm seas and level decks in 2020 he may decide to bail. Claim unbelievable and historic success and greatness and hand it off to Pence, or maybe Kushner, or.....another Trump. Biden is forming his PAC. How old will he be? Talk about a guy that is capable of filling a book with his mis-speaks..........

Earlier last week, I was accused of actually posting an article from MSN, a site I have accused of fomenting fake news. I guess I cannot win with posters here. fyi, I have read and posted from sites covering both sides of the political spectrum here. I admit I am tired from the economic and political morass we have been in for 14 years Time to shake things up because nothing we as a country have done has changed anything, other than crying for people who refuse to help their selves and are professional victims.

Over the next 42 months before the next election, the odds of trump winning might change just a bit, let alone trump him still in office by the end of 2018. We have no idea what the economy will be doing in 2020. And we have no idea what will happen between now and 2020. Nor we do have any idea who will be the democratic nominee will be. It's far too early to make a prediction. In 2000, I would have bet that George W. Bush would be a one-term president, and then came 9/11 and the wars. Things can change outside of anyone's control. So who knows. It's why I care more about the 2018 mid-terms. I'd rather make sure that congress is a real check on the President than what we have now. Because then if Trump gets another term, the agenda isn't set by the radical freedom caucus.

When W got his second term, it was stunning to many. Nobody had said anything good about him...except that one news source, that was considered bullshit. Most people only get one story - even if they have 10 different sources. Even when I watch Fox, I discount what is said, so it is pointless.

I tune into real clear occasionally, but sometimes they aggregate by placing two extremes next to each other, neither of which are really worthwhile and not exactly what I consider balance. I do like their aggregate polls.

I long for in depth, real investigative journalism that takes a lot of time to research instead of jumping on the tweet of the day. I'm confused, don't know what to think, and distrustful. Are we talking Trump here, or CNN MSNBC CBS NBC?

Does a day go by without Trump pissing off an entire country?
His ill-informed tweet about London's mayor was an incredibly cheap and nasty shot.
What else is new?

I had a neighbor, she is well educated was an RN. She says well if the media would not say all this stuff about him. I said with what he says and the way he treated Obama and Hillary, why would people treat him well.
He will make some almost intelligent statement and I think, there may be hope, then he makes sure to make some disparaging remark about anything his predecessor did. How shallow, how horrible. Apparently he was taught nothing but to be arrogant growing up. And the poor people here think he is going to help them? He wouldn't touch them or let them near in his high flying insulated world. But the stupid keep bowing down to him. Lord help us.

They should run Cory Booker. I had hopes for Cory Booker, then I read about him taking donations from Kushner & defending Kushner last week. So Booker is off the table for me now.
