Welcome, canofbeans. Tell us a little bit yourself, if you're so inclined.

Thank you. I've been cruising your board and wow! You have a ton of categories! This is great. I came to read about tips for aggressively paying down some credit card debt (not a huge amount but still an amount I'd rather not have) and saw a page for healthy living and spirituality. Very cool. I'm not very interesting. I'm turning 60 this year, happily married with two cats, two dogs, and a wild yarn addiction. We are both artists.

Welcome Aboard canofbeans! I started visiting when DH & I needed to pay down credit card debt, when I was looking for some new ideas. The people here are nice, & although the debt is now gone, I still hang around. I think you sound very interesting! Do you knit, crochet, weave, or, what is your yarn addiction of choice?

I think artists' of any kind, have very interesting minds! 60 is just a number, and not to be held hostage by. Just so you know.

Oh, I do all kinds of things with yarn but I'm partial to felting. So I stick mostly to wool but recently got a bag of bamboo roving to make little orbs for a baby shower gift (a mobile). My felting projects are usually fairly elaborate wall hangings but occasionally I make a pair of slippers or a tote. Part of the reason I have credit card debt is my yarn addiction. I'm not shy about charging $75-$100 a couple of times a month on really good wool, especially since we just had a new yarn shop open up in the next town over. A hank of yarn usually costs anywhere between $15 and $25 and the roving I like is $22 a bag. Naturally, I need every color.
The project I have planned for this weekend involves making little spiral cones from copper wire and wrapping them around a beautiful branch of yellow birch. In each one I will put an air plant. Then I plan to give it to a friend as a house warming gift. There will likely be four running up the branch. I love air plants! They are so easy to care for and I often incorporate them in my art (I use natural fibers and materials).

I can't draw a straight line with a ruler and it's not from lack of trying.

Now, THAT would have been interesting! We could have had an intervention.

Welcome, canofbeans . I have a yarn addiction too!
But just remember this: you are not a hoarder, you have an extensive, carefully curated private yarn collection

Welcome to the boards! And feel free to poke around the threads. The long ones probably aren't on topic anymore to you don't need to read the whole thing to get up to speed.

I will take some pictures of my favorite ones and have someone help me figure out how to post them. I will be taking the photos with my cell phone so I'm not really sure how to work that on here. One of my favorite pieces is a four season in one wall hanging, beginning with Spring on the left and blending through Summer and Autumn and ending with Winter. It's not huge but it took a lot of time.
