Yes, he loves me. I pick him up and he runs up my shirt to sit on my shoulder. I think he thinks he's a parrot or something.
Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure it's a rooster.

That chicky is too awesome! Spike is the perfect name for he/she/it.

THAT's what you should name him. Cap'n! (Captain)

How's Qtip doing? Feathers coming in OK? He/she is doing fine. Just ugly. Bald butt and still really scruffy looking. His wing feathers came in brown, which was a shocker, but even those are a lot more tattered looking than the other chicks, I have no idea why those would be messed up.

Ok, so I'm back in business with the chick picks. I'm going to have to take them outside though to get better ones, because the light is bad in the barn where they're at. Q-Tip is the blurry one running in at the far left.

MPL, is the last pic you posted of Q-tip? I don't think so. They are getting a lot harder to tell apart now...or at least tell who they used to be...because they're changing so fast and I don't see them every day. Q-Tip is still pretty easy from the side and back because she's still got some scraggly spots. From the front it's a lot harder though, but this one's feathers on her head look pretty nice. Q-Tip still has some buzz cut chick fuzz look going on.

And I can hardly see those pictures on my phone. I'll have to catch them and take them outside for individual portraits with better lighting.

One of the blacks is definitely a hen. Woohoo! We were sure they were all roosters. It looks like one or two of the whites might end up being hens too. I'm still giving Spike the benefit of the doubt, but my aunt is pretty sure he's a rooster. I wouldn't have recognized him at all since they've changed so much if it wasn't for his personality. THAT has not changed.

She's going to start letting them outside. It's so damn hot and humid and the pen is dark and getting stinky. I'm not planning on taking any, so she's going to move the "known hens" in with her other ones and maybe just start leaving the door open on this pen for the roosters and the maybe roosters to come and go during the day. That will make them happy. I was starting to feel sorry for them.

Took a pic of the girls last night. I forgot to take one of the roosters. They're being kept at another part of the farm.

They're 2 months old today!
eta: Ok, so guess I was a little off. They hatched June 3rd-5th. Those two white ones were the ones I just peeled out of the eggs before work on the 5th. Both hens! Our ratio would have been really bad had I not saved them.
