politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/03/23/trump-again-questions-obamas-birthplace/ --- " CNN) – Real estate mogul Donald Trump called on President Barack Obama Wednesday to produce his birth certificate and prove he was born in the United States. "I want him to show his birth certificate. I want him to show his birth certificate," Trump said on ABC's "The View." "There's something on that birth certificate that he doesn't like." The potential 2012 presidential candidate said Obama was "probably" born in the U.S., but repeated questions he raised last week about the president's childhood. "If you go back to my first grade, my kindergarten, people remember me. Nobody from those early years remembers him," Trump said. "If you're going to be president of the United States, it says very profoundly you have to be born in this country." Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie said he was a friend of Obama's parents in Hawaii and remembers when the future president was born. Abercrombie, a fellow Democrat and longtime congressman who won election as governor last November, vowed to produce an original copy of the president's birth certificate. But he abandoned those efforts earlier this year because it is against state law to release private documents, according to his spokeswoman. In 2008, the Obama presidential campaign produced a certification of live birth that reported his birthplace as Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended kindergarten there before moving to Jakarta, Indonesia with his stepfather at age six. Katherine Nakamoto, Obama's kindergarten teacher described in 2009 to the Maui News what Obama was like as a five year old: "He was a cute, likable, heavy build-child. I could visualize Barry smiling, dressed in his long-sleeved, white shirt tucked into his brown Bermuda shorts, and wearing laced shoes." Trump's original comments last week won praise from one Tea Party leader. "Donald Trump has joined a lot of really sane Americans. He, like us, does not believe Barack Obama," Judson Phillips, the founder of the Tea Party Nation, said in an email Saturday to his group's supporters. "The great thing about what Donald did is he said it and he did not flinch when he said it. A lot of the alleged conservative leaders have run like cockroaches when the lights are turned on from the eligibility issue. The fact that Trump will deal with that issue and deal with it head on raises his stock as a possible Presidential candidate in a lot of people's eyes."

I will have to wait and see on Trump. There are things i like and don't like. Also, not sure i trust that he isn't just doing it for the money. People think rich people will be altruistic because they don't 'need' the money when often times some of the richest people are the most greedy. But, again, i don't know. How many of his companies has he driven to bankruptcy? The US is on the verge, we need someone to pull it out of bankruptcy not drive in that final nail. Obama went through a much more intense background investigation to get a top secret clearance. Actually he would have gone through that scrutiny while Bush was still president. The fact that he's not required to make all the information public does not mean that it was not investigated.

The beauty about The Donald besides his hair is that he has tons of money...and money cannot buy everyghing but with enough I wonder if it can buy the Presidency of the United States.....Trump told interviewers that this job as our President will be a big step down for him. However not to worry because he is ok with it, and he wants to give back to this country for all it gave him. The Donald says he is the only one to save us from socialism and progressive liberals... I ought to see if Trump could use me for his campaign as a military coordinator with our Armed Services to get out the vote and vote for the Donald...now that will be a challenge..

But, seriously, do you think that a kindergarten / elementary school teacher with (x) students every year is going to remember any more than perhaps a handful from 20-30 years ago?

UH,
But a mixed race black/white child/student from the sixties in Hawaii. Yeah, I think is would be normal that SOMEbody would remember.
And according to the Reverend Dr. Manning, who is black, the same lack of other people's memory has followed Obama all his life.
The Donald may not make iot to the White House, but I sure hope he helps uncover some of the blank renditions of the anointed one's biography.

That isn't necessarily true. I'm pretty familiar with the background checking procedures for both federal law enforcement employees (i.e. federal agents - Secret Service, FBI, DEA, etc.) and military clearances, and based on what I know, Obama would not have passed either, primarily due to his relationship with Bill Ayers and his admitted drug use, both of which would disqualify him from being given clearance. This was a case of pure neglect of due diligence, and at this point no one is willing to go back and say they made a massive mistake by not properly vetting Barack Obama...

You are incorrect, a secret clearance is not withheld because somebody did drugs or has a relationship with Bill Ayers. All those facts are disclosed and the FBI makes a decision based on those facts and all the other facts that they gather. Also there are different levels of clearance, each level requires more and more checking into the background. He would have received these clearances at drastically different times. For example he may have had an FBI background check when he was state senator, and then received a secret clearance when he became a US senator. He would have escalated in his clearance when he started his briefings with Bush and so on. This is not a single check where someone could have missed the fact that he was not born here. Also I'm amazed at the lack of understating of the role Bill Ayers plays in politics. There are many people conservative and liberal in Chicago and IL that have worked with Ayers.

From the looks of potential Republican candidates it will be a lopsided Democratic win regardless who they choose. But Donald asked a quite obvious question that mirrors my thoughts. Why would he not have answered this birth question completely two years ago and put this silly issue to rest? And the answer is not that he already has. In fact it seems he has went out of his way to avoid dealing with this issue which in turn suggests rightly or not that there are questions that he simply would prefer not to answer about this question. If nothing else it greatly affects the way many view his leadership qualities if he still can't get past this annoying little detail. Hopefully the states will finally wake up and do a better job of checking the qualifications of candidates moving forward as most like myself just assumed was already happening.

Is there any evidence that Trump went around Hawaii asking people if they knew Obama? Was there some Obama knowing survey somewhere? Provide a link or it didn't happen. Goose/gander Could you do me a favor and put that phrase sooner in your posts? That way I can disregard your unsubstantiated opinion a little faster. Thnx in advance. Well, since the last president bankrupted a baseball team and an oil company IN TEXAS, I guess Conservatives wouldn't mind if another bankrupter. I guess they think having a person possessing a certain last name, being "able to have a beer with" him, or being a big star is more important.

Trump-if he runs, would be better off just dropping the birther conspiracy and concentrate on how China is eating our lunch. If he sticks to that message, he might just pull it off.

I don't think for one minute that Palin will ever again play second fiddle on a presidential run, especially after the way the McCain camp allowed the media to destroy her, while not letting her do what she does best-just go out to the people and let her be herself. But if she does lose to Trump, I bet that she would make a kick-a$$ secretary of state.

Trump does have a super ego though and it is highly likely he will just shoot himself in the foot with his own big mouth. If he sticks to issues where he is perceived as skilled and knowledgeable such as business, trade, China, developing new businesses and jobs ,etc. he could pull it off. If he gets caught up in the wrong things or things that don't resonate, it won't fly. If (by some miracle) he does become President do we get to see him say "You're Fired" to Obama and his staff?

I also remember the names of some of my classmates, even though I've had no contact with them since then.

I would never vote for a conspiracy loon, and Birther loons are the worst of the lot. If someone actually ran on a Birther platform, well, I would have to seriously question the priorities of that particular candidate. Not to mention running on a platform like that is essentially saying, "Don't vote for me because I'd make a good president. Vote for me because my opponent was disqualified." It reminds me of the movie "King Ralph" - sure, we'll make a Las Vegas lounge pianist the King of England because the rest of the qualified candidates were wiped out in a freak electrical accident.

You had one kindergarten teacher. However, Miss Ramsey, assuming a 30 year-career, saw thousands of kids come and go over the course of her life.
I don't remember my kindergarten teacher ... at all. I remember a few things about kindergarten, but not my teacher's name or even what she looked like. And yes, I still remember some of my kindergarten classmates, but only because they remained classmates with me for years moving on up through the grades.
Point being: Everyone's memory - what they ultimately remember from a particular segment of one's life - is different for each of us. Two people who experienced the same event are going to remember it in a different way, and what their brains decide to latch onto is not a uniform phenomenon.
