I reformatted to remove the columns (occurred because of cut and paste.) I also - reluctantly - cut out some data to make it concise. I believe that what is remaining is important information for people who advocate for employers to be punished for hiring illegal workers and who advocate we punish whoever let the woman described in the OP vote.
Right now, even if an employer wants to do the right thing and uses the government tools to verify a prospective employee's eligibility to work, the tools are highly inaccurate and ineffective. Similarly, if someone wants to verify a voter's eligibility to vote, there is not an accurate tool to verify citizenship other than requiring the prospective voter to produce documents and verifying those documents are legitimate and belong to the person presenting them.
This is a serious issue that I believe most people (other than employers who have been unsuccessfully wrestling with the government tools for decades) are unaware of.
Determining if someone is a US citizen should be a fairly basic task - something that a government should be expected to be able to do with a modicum of effectiveness and efficiency. This is yet another example of just how poorly our government functions at basic tasks. Seriously, we can't put in a logic check that kicks out obviously fraudulent applications like the "102 year old" that's applying for a fast food job? When I state that of all my clients, the government agencies were the absolute worst run and staffed in terms of competency at basic tasks, this is the sort of thing I'm referring to. But apparently most Americans are unaware of just how badly incompetent our government is at even basic tasks, as is evidenced by their faith that government would or should be able to know who is eligible to vote. So I'm going to keep bringing these examples up because they show how poorly our government handles even its basic responsibilities. Because if we can't trust our government to design a system that simply lists and identifies who is a US citizen, how the Hell can we trust it with something as complicated and important as healthcare for everybody?

thanks. sorry that you felt you had to cut stuff out, you could have used the spoiler code for some of it. there have been a few posts in recent days that have been a lot longer than average. just makes for ease of reading, especially for those on mobile devices.

So if a homeowner is robbed because they didn't properly secure their property, it is their fault and not that of the robber? It is not unheard of for insurance companies to think this. And in this case it is someone's job to process this registration. Basic care is expected at just about any job I know about. Don't apply it and in many cases your booty is out the door! That's because insurance companies are in business for profit. It's cheaper to replace the stolen items on average, than pay for court proceedings and a possible win.
