ok, so there was thin-sliced chicken breast on sale when I stopped at the store. there was no "meatloaf mix" already done up, so if I do up meatballs it will be with 85/15 ground beef that's already here. I bought 1 eggplant, will fry that up in long cutlets rather than rounds bc I'm lazy. I think I'll make rollatini out of that for myself, and a big salad. but if I fry up some chicken cutlets and the eggplant, I can work with both of those for a few days.

oh, and garlic bread. I picked up a big Italian loaf in the bakery, and I have some garlic spread on the counter already.

I went to the grocery store Sunday after work and also right before the snow started here. I do not like the fact the snow totals appear to be upped to 18 to 24 inches.

OK? Plow came by to do the first pass in the complex where I live. Will read up on the storm later. Put out food for the night lizard, Crestie and cleaned and filled humidifier #1. Next humidifier #2 and perhaps the Neti pot...

Snow was a bust here. I can still see grass poking through the snow. And this is the most snow we've had all winter. Governments were already planning what to use the unused snow removal budgets for.

It's just raining buckets here.  No snow to go with all that milk, bread, eggs, and toilet paper.

I worked at the GC last night and people added a twist to that that I haven't seen before.  They were buying bags and bags of ice.

And I am only in the one bottle of wine area but I think now it is really zero.

DD's school was cancelled last night for today.  We definitely got some snow, but maybe not as much as was expected.  Later today, we'll go out with DD so we can play.  Hopefully she can build a snowman as she REALLY wants to.

hasn't started here yet. watching a press conference with the governor right now, he has thanked those of us that don't have to drive for not doing so, don't get too close to the plows if you do, and as of 8am there are almost 3000 piece of snow removal equipment on the roads around the state.

As much as I adore DS, I am super glad that today is one of my "off" days.  I slept until 10:30 this morning (that trip must have taken a lot out of me!) and woke up to maybe a few inches of snow.  Work closed and the school closed.  I don't know if work would have closed if they knew just how much we actually got.  It's not too bad down here (except the plows for the complex haven't come through yet), but I know people come from all over the state, parts of PA, and parts of NY to get to our corporate office.

I'm chilling out for a while - will probably get a workout in and shovel later if the plows come.

dem, here too. I know I've got the whole bay immediately to my west, but even just clearing off the steps just now of an inch or so, this is heart attack snow. I hope my neighbors are taking care of their elderly friends and family. I don't know anyone that fits that bill, or I'd be out there doing their driveway too.

They're calling it heart attack snow on the news here, too. Now I'm not as gleeful that I can't help with shoveling.

Seems to be over in northern NJ.   Neighbors are already out with their snow blowers. Looks like about 6" but hard to tell because of wind and drifts.

Our friend in Duchess County, NY posted pics this morning.  It's blowing hard enough that you can't even see the houses behind her yard.

I try to keep a decent amount of food in the house. If I'd been home over the weekend I wouldn't have needed to go out yesterday. I would have done a usual weekend trip.

I put a heavier coat on in the morning and went outside around 8. We had at the time about a foot and kept on comming down hard.
All in all we got about 16-18" but it started compacting now. Not bad at all!
I just wish this was happening in January not now!

the high snow totals right now all seem to be in the "just north of Worcester" area of MA, but there's a surprising one down my way. I'm kind of scratching my head about that one, but it has pretty much turned to a solid wet snow here now. huge flakes, very dense pack. and damn windy.... my DPW is pretty awesome generally, but I've been looking at pavement out my living room windows all day. 

I don't think we're going to need the snowblower when this is all over.

I guess I don't understand the mentality to stock up when a disaster is coming.  why not just maintain a deep base stock all the time?  i get the urge to want more when something is coming, but I just don't understand humans who won't spend a few bucks to have a deep stock all the time

Not all of us have room to keep 10 jars of pasta sauce, 10 boxes of pasta, 20 cans tuna, an 8 - pack of paper towels and a 12-24 pack of TP at all times. You must have never lived in an apartment or had to be on a tight budget.

Greater Boston area checking in.

We have about 8 inches so far.  It's coming down hard right now and blowing and drifting.  The plows are out and making regular swipes, but then the roads get covered back up quickly between the snowfall and the wind.  Like deminmaine, it's the heavy wet stuff that sticks to everything and weighs a ton to shovel.  I have DH and YDS here, but both have back injuries, so it will be mostly on me to shovel.  Fortunately, we don't have a long, winding, driveway. 

It's very windy here.  I have PTSD about wind, so I am staying in the basement and the first floor.  Might sleep under the dining room table tonight.  

I've made breakfasts and lunches for the rest of my work week and am moving on to dinner now because after I shovel later tonight, I will be in no condition to do anything but shower, pop a bunch of Advil, and crash.  

ODS is in Maryland.  His campus closed for the day for the snow.  He has a game tomorrow that will either be cancelled outright or played at another college that received less snow.  

Six more days until Spring.  As if that matters to Mother Nature.

Happy Pi Day!!!  Hmmmm, pie...I've got the time AND the ingredients...

DH just came in from snow blowing the neighbor's driveways and says we are at about 18" and is still coming down.
