Oh Lordy, I just bought the rest of the tile and of course because my new countertops are so pretty I have decided to replace the kitchen backsplash. But because the tile guy wanted $250 to deliver the tile, I'm renting a truck for $20 and doing it myself. The tile place will load it on for me and he can unload it.

We're settling in slowly but surely. Last weekend I bought a Kokopelli fire pit at the vintage store. There is a huge covered outdoor party deck we need to furnish. DH and BIL set out the outdoor set we do have, in addition to the gas lights, propane heater and other items. We left our large American flag at our former home because it is too big for the new home's pole. I bought a new flag last night, and hope to raise it after work today with DH in honor of Flag Day. The HOA meeting is tonight, which will be my first. I'll try and keep my rebellious mouth shut.

I'm going to just keep a tally with my credit card and check book of what I'm spending. Bought tile for gutted bathroom yesterday and found really cool stuff being discontinued and because it's a small bathroom there's enough! Came to $1074 including tax and grout. I still have to buy backer board and thresholds and it doesn't include labor yet but the tile guy gave me a good price for both bathrooms including tile so if I like less expensive tile, it'll be less than he wuoted me and I was already pleased. I don't think pictures I will take when finished will show the wave in the white tile but it's very cool. Need to get going. Hugely busy day again. But then it'll calm down to regular busy. Is it similar to an oversize subway tile but with a raised wavy pattern to it? We got something like that for our bath when we remodeled it. It's very pretty and I love it.

I hope you like it as much as I do. The only issue I have with it is that nothing will stick to it because of the pattern. I use section cups in the shower to hang my washcloth, but can't do that since we retiled. I must say though, it cleans easily and looks really shiny when clean.

I concluded most people there are like minded: We enjoy living in the country, and want to be left alone, but are there for each other if necessary.

I'm having an insert put in so shampoo and stuff can go in it. Also a seat. I'm going to like that bathroom much more than my master.

We put in an insert too using the floor tile for contrast. The floor has grey and white carerra marble done in a basketweave pattern. Did you use the wall tile for the insert too, or something else?

I think the wall tile. The floor is such a contrast and a bit intricate plus we decided to put it on the end instead of the middle so the flow would look more seamless. The bathroom is so small that I'm trying every trick in the book to add the illusion of spaciousness.

Less than 3 weeks after purchasing, the well pump went out in our new-to-us house last night.

You were so happy to get out of that motel and have your own water service that you ran the well dry. Sorry it broke. We had a few replaced. First was a lightning strike. Second was a pump failure. They pulled 262 feet of pipe and wire out.

They pulled 262 feet of pipe and wire out. DH isn't sure if it's the pumps, the controller, or what. And of course I discovered it just before 9 last night. So, he was understandably cranky when he had to get up off his duff to investigate. The sellers said there's enough well water to last through the summer. When I went to see what I could possibly do to help, the 3 tanks look a bit low to me. There's still enough water in them, however, that the pumps should be working...? The learning curve is vast, going from city to rural life.

Some wells last 20 or more years without maintenance. We got 12 years out of our first one. Cheaper then a water bill. But when they fail it's the panic mode of quick repair. Odd that it is usually on a weekend when they charge higher rates.

You know I'm an electrical engineer, so I checked the controls before calling a well guy. We didn't have any holding tanks. Only takes them a few hours to replace the pump, but they put chlorine in and you have to wait 24 hours. Connect a garden hose to the outside and run the pump for hours until you can't taste the chlorine.

I think I'd rather pay the $20 a month (give or take) than have that to contend with - even once! I'm a lazy ol' broad. Just let the water run when I want it to run!

Last night he couldn't figure out why both pumps weren't working. I suspect he'll have better luck this evening after work, when it's not so late, before cocktail hour.

Our monthly city water/garbage/sewer bill averaged $110 for the two of us with a zeriscaped lawn, and garden drip system. I heard horror stories from friends with actual lawns having bills over $200 in the summer. That being said, yes, it does suck to have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars just to feel like we're camping a few weeks later.

Mystery solved. There's apparently not enough water in the ground for our well to bring water into the house. I told DH this info would have been nice to know last night. So, we get to haul water already this year.

Was that something that the seller should have disclosed?

So, we get to haul water already this year. Here that would have been disclosed. They are required to give a rate of gallons per minute. As water is pumped out the well fills back up. It's only a 4" pipe but far down into the ground water aquifer. Goes back to my statement that you took too a long shower.

Was that something that the seller should have disclosed? They told our agent they had no problems with it, (a family of 4), and that they had enough water to last until the summer run off was complete. We had a relatively dry winter, so the run off is already finished. According to neighbors in our neighbor FB group, it depends on the aquifer each particular year. Which makes sense. Duly noted.

Sigh. Disregard. Came home to a pissed DH. The issue is the house tank pressure pump. Like I've said: The American Dream my A$$.
