I thought it would be interesting to have a thread just for political spectrum test and results. Post some other test if you know them, and share your results (please put the test link above your results so we know which test gave you which results). It could be interesting to see if people fall where you think they would fall. Here are 3 test that I found really quickly. typology.people-press.org/typology/Bill put this one up in another thread that is locked www.politicalcompass.org/analysis2This one is similar, but asked you to rate how strongly you feel about the issue and offers a neutral option. www.gotoquiz.com/politics/political-spectrum-quiz.html

www.politicalcompass.org/analysis2Your political compass: Economic Left/Right: 0.12 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.05 www.gotoquiz.com/politics/political-spectrum-quiz.htmlYou are a center-right social moderate. Right: 1.52, Authoritarian: 0.09 And a 3rd test (I would prefer that they make a distinction between immigrants and illegal immigrants since I think allowing immigration helps the country, as long as it's done legally). typology.people-press.org/typology/Results: UpbeatBased on your answers to the questionnaire, you most closely resemble survey respondents within the Upbeat typology group. This does not mean that you necessarily fit every group characteristic or agree with the group on all issues. Upbeats represent 11 percent of the American public, and 13 percent of registered voters. Basic Description Upbeats express positive views about the economy, government and society. Satisfied with their own financial situation and the direction the nation is heading, these voters support George W. Bush’s leadership in economic matters more than on social or foreign policy issues. Combining highly favorable views of government with equally positive views of business and the marketplace, Upbeats believe that success is in people’s own hands, and that businesses make a positive contribution to society. This group also has a very favorable view of immigrants. Defining Values Very favorable views of government performance and responsiveness defines the group, along with similarly positive outlook on the role of business in society. While most support the war in Iraq, Upbeats have mixed views on foreign policy – but most favor preemptive military action against countries that threaten the U.S. Religious, but decidedly moderate in views about social and cultural issues. Who They Are Relatively young (26% are under 30) and well-educated, Upbeats are the second wealthiest group after Enterprisers (39% have household incomes of $75,000 or more). The highest proportion of Catholics (30%) and white mainline Protestants (28%) of all groups, although fewer than half (46%) attend church weekly. Mostly white (87%), suburban, and married, they are evenly split between men and women. Lifestyle Notes High rate of stock ownership (42%, 2nd after Enterprisers). 2004 Election Bush 63%, Kerry 14%. Party ID 56% Independent/No Preference, 39% Republican, 5% Democrat (73% Rep/LeanRep) Media Use Upbeats are second only to Liberals in citing the internet as their main news source (34% compared with 23% nationwide); 46% also cite newspapers. No more or less engaged in politics than the national average.

My political compass: Economic Left/Right: -7.62 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -9.13
Fairly close. The second one places me a little less extreme.

I just liked the option to pick neutral, as well as how strongly you felt about the issue on the other one. I'm not sure what all options the "typology" quiz has on it.

I think that gotoquiz is a little better design. I just like the idea of the two dimensions as opposed to the simple left/right continuum. I read your results from the typology and it seemed "dated" so I didn't go there. I have to go to "work" soon. Cross country ski lesson. It is a tough job but someone has to do it. ;D

You are a far-right social libertarian. Right: 9.26, Libertarian: 5.99
I am shocked about the far right thing. I think it is because I have strong right leaning opinions about issues that I think are a waste of time. For instance more gay rights equals progress. I strongly disagree and really, really don't care. I think that put me in the Right catagory, even though I think Ritghties tend to think it is an issue.
