Does Trump think this is the Heisman ceremony? Bring in the candidates then make an announcement. Just another Trump TV show.

I just learned that only one nominee went. I guess we know who he chose. I won't be watching. I have an important ham radio net to run at 8.

It will be telling. If it's Hardiman or Pryor. Evidently Trump could keep a secret. MSNBC wasted no time trying to destroy the pick. CNN actually was pretty good in the reporting so far tonight.

I can't believe the publicity w***e is actually going to announce this on television. Are Ryan and McConnell going to be standing behind him sticking their tongues out at the viewers? Any bets there will be a TV commercial for Trump Resorts before or after the prime time announcement? Will we then be subjected to a Barbara Walters sit-down fluff piece with trump after the announcement? No Trump resort commercial, and why in hell would be ever sit down with Barbara wa wa? Hannity, maybe

For a seat that was stolen. Not stolen. Scalia died. He was a conservative Judge who interpreted the Constitution as it was intended to be.Democrats wanted Garland to get the seat. Republicans said no, he will not. You and others may not like it, but the truth is, if Garland had been interviewed and considered, then voted down, the Democrats would still be pissed. Elections have consequences. Get used to it. Ummm... no. He didn't. He interpreted The Bible as he saw fit, and applied it to the law... also as he saw fit.

No Trump resort commercial, and why in hell would be ever sit down with Barbara wa wa? Hannity, maybe No prime time Vegas showgirls? Nope. But we did have Ted Cruz afterwards saying President Trump could not have picked a better Judge. Senator Grahmn ate some humble pie too. He was estatic with the pick, pronouncing it a great pick.

We missed the whole show. Our neighbor (the immigrant, yet!) had a toilet that broke, & came over to ask for help. DH went over & fixed her toilet, so nobody was watching at our house. I can imagine Trump's face if we told him DH was too busy fixing our immigrant neighbor's toilet to watch him on t.v.
Oh, and I'm not surprised at all by his selection. This is the guy I actually expected him to pick. What a day. No surprises by Trump.

It didn't need to be an evening prime time event. Just an announcement during the day at the white house like Obama did. Trump TV continues. And he has to be adored.

If he wants to be adored, he needs to appoint liberal justices.

I'm stunned that he didn't tweet it. I was wrong. He didn't tweet it, but it was all over Twitter yesterday afternoon that it was Gorsuch. Well, not "all over," but I did read it on Twitter.

"I've seen a fair bit of praise from leftist quarters" I'd be interested in a link or source for that statement. He is staunchly anti Roe and pro corporation. He's made no attempt to even hide his strong views. Of course he'll be confirmed; They may not even need 60 votes - Trump has already told McConnell to nuke the filibuster.

Yeah, they seem to think that they put their hands on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible. Instead of the other way around.

My Dad owned a hardware store......that doesn't mean I know anything about tools or how to cut glass to fix a broken window.

Yep. So we can trust that there will be abject failure at every agency now? Problem is, how many Bill Ruckelshaus' are there to rescue all of today's agencies after the implosions?

I expect the Dem. Senators to do their job and hold hearings and ask questions. Then vote based on what they learned.
I do not expect the timeline to be quick. And I expect to froth with rage every time the POtuS says something about how awful it is that this qualified man isn't pushed through immediately.

From the first link, I found one "Neal Katyal, a former solicitor general in the Obama administration wrote in an editorial for the New York Times entitled “Why Liberals should back Neil Gorsuch” that Trump’s nominee was an “extraordinary judge and man”. The second link required a subscription The third libk had no quotes, but the whole article simply bashed Democrats So, your "fair bit of praise from leftists" consists of one opinion More from the first link... "Some prominent Senate Democrats immediately denounced Gorsuch as “unacceptable” and “extreme”." "Ideological strands running through Gorsuch’s appeals court rulings would seem likely to endear him to congressional Republicans and Trump’s conservative base. He has shown himself to be solicitous to claims of religious exemptions from the law, to gun rights claims and to the prosecution of death penalty cases." Not encouraging...
