Snapdragon 07/24/17 --- $ 6776.75 / $ 10,000 -- update
Car/House $ 1644.01 / $1500 Savings $ 3048.07 / $4000 Travel $ 2084.67 / $4500 New Totals $ 6776.75 / $10,000 Jamaica was enjoyable. I am glad I went but am even happier that I am back home. I prefer lounging by the pool and my travel buddy likes being on the go - she has to stay busy which is rather exhausting for me. I did not get nearly enough alone or reading time. But I met several people that I am more than happy to hang out with in the future.

UPDATE:
2017 START PRESENT GOAL STILL NEED
E.F. $2,016.87 $1,120.00 $3,000.00 $1880.00
ROTH $0 $2.88 $1,000.00 $997.12
DS 1 SAVINGS $1,300.19 $1,447.61 $1,500.00 $52.39
DS 2 SAVINGS $278.10 $400.00 $400.00 $0.00
DISNEY FUND $200.00 $1,004.64 $2,000.00 $995.36
TOTALS $3,795.16 $3,975.13 $7,900.00 $3,924.87
NikiZ628 7/27/17 $ $3,975.13 (Goal $7,900.00 WIRS2&7)
Total went down a bit this update due to tapping in to E.F. There wasn't an emergency per say, we are just entering into our "tight" part of the year and it's also back to school time. I took $80 or so out of it to help cover school supply costs. Thankfully, we are all done purchasing for that now. Just gotta get through both of my kids bdays in the next 2 months and we will be out of the tight zone...you know, just in time for Christmas lol.
No matter how much we plan and prepare for this time of year, we always seem to feel the squeeze. I'm not even sure why, because we aren't going nuts with birthday/back to school spending. I think it's just so many expenses at once.

regecko, 07/28/2017, $12,384.71, Goal = $12,000.00Saved as of 7/28/17 | Overall Saved: | Goal: | Completed:
| Dental Appliance | $2,001.50 | $2,000.00 | 100% | Tattoo Money | $403.14 | $750.00 | 53.75% | Next Vacation | $3,023.26 | $2,000.00 | 151.16% | Tiny House | $1,570.03 | $1,500.00 | 104.67% | New Car | $1,500.80 | $1,550.00 | 96.83% | Small Vacations | $505.96 | $? |

Not a ton of progress this month. I found out that I likely won't get a performance review until the end of August, so that is sort of delaying my budget reset. I used the money in the tattoo fund to finish up the piece I started in March, and went ahead and booked an appointment for November for a smaller piece I'd like done. After that, I will probably lay off of the tattoos for awhile! Once I max out that goal, I want to start alternating between funding the tiny house goal (which is really just a fund for property at this point - I haven't 100% committed to tiny living!) and boosting my retirement savings. My goal is to fully fund my Roth IRA one year before I turn 30... which means that I've got two years to go. Depending on what my salary looks like, I may or may not accomplish this, but I'm going to try! I also want to save some actual cash to keep in my home. I have a little that I have stashed away, but I know from being burglarized in the past that a thief with enough time can find all sorts of things that are hidden. I have some ideas of where I can stash a little bit for emergencies. Most of my $ will stay in the bank, but you can't beat cold, hard cash sometimes!

just did some more shell moving, but I think this is going to work to my benefit. I scheduled a payment to one of the Discover cards for $700 for Monday, to add to the $300 automatic payment that will go a few days later. I moved $9000 of the remaining balance to the BofA card that's got a bunch of different offers going on right now (I know.....but hear me out) which will leave me with a little bit to carry while I then turn around and consolidate 3 smaller balances back onto the Discover for a 4.99% interest rate for 18 months with $0 fee. my "snowball" while the dust settles will be aimed at the remaining balance at the full interest rate that was carried over on the Discover until all that's left is the consolidated balance. then I go back to attack the BofA card.
sorry if this is confusing, I may not be explaining very well without numbers. I'm a little buzzed. this week was audit week at work, and I got home around 130. have a couple glasses of wine in me at this point, my hell week is done.

I just spoke with the CRA about why the bloody hell my GST isn't here yet. I was suppose to get it on July 5th. Well the agent said I was put into the last group cause I mailed in my taxes later than I normally do this year. So GST will be in my bank account on August 4th.
I also lost my bank access card and had to get it replaced on Tuesday. That's now done as well.
I'm going forward whether anyone else likes it or not, just deal with it and get the hell out of my way!

Hi Savers,
Where has the summer gone? It's half over already... way too short.
The end of July is rapidly approaching. Please get your updates in by Wednesday afternoon, August 2.
I will be working on the smilies that evening.
Thank you!

Crawling along. As an overall I'm doing great, but I decided to start recording the overages in a few categories to capture why I'm not making some of the individual goals. I'm not sure if this is a good way to do this for a savings goal chart since it looks like I oversaved, when really I overspent. I Too many car repairs and overspent on vacation. Fund | 2017 Goal

Hello Savers! I'm back from summer school in Norway. I had a great time but now it's time to run the numbers and re-evaluate my savings plan for the remainder of 2017. I know I spent less than I had budgeted so I'm kind of eager to see how it all looks.

Pretty darn happy with where our savings still stands after an entire week in Vegas!
We didn't win big, but we didn't get our booties kicked either. Our flights, 7 day hotel stay (and our families rooms as well), lots of food, about $300 in gaming, poolside cabana (and $1000 poolside food/alcohol bill) were all comped. It was nice to be able to share some of our comps with my inlaws as well as they are always willing to help us out with watching our puppy girls. We also had a limo ride to and from the airport, a fancy BD dinner at Paris for my SIL's 21st BD, a ride on the High Roller, zipline on Fremont St., a tour of the Mob Museum, some of our group also went to The Blue Man Group, some to Penn and Teller, and my fave was Cher Concert on the last night! It was a great trip and had a lot of fun with hubby and his family. We probably won't go back this year, but we don't have kids so sometimes we go impromptu, so we shall see. With the amount we played through we will be able to get free rooms, etc for the rest of 2017 and 2018 as well.
Now on to financial business! We are right on track to be able to pay off the Mom Loan in Dec. We "could" pay it off now, but we need to have enough to pay off the loan, have our renters deposits in savings in case someone moved out, and have a little EF. Total we need is about $21,750, right now we have about $17K (just actually did the math now and we actually have $18K!) so we need to save another $5K ($4K) by Dec. That would be a fabulous paydown, and we would blow past the $500K mark. I can't wait! So time to put our nose to the grindstone and get that last bit into savings!
Trying to get some OT in this week to help get us to our goal of $21,750. Only $3,715 to go!
I earned a new for paying for the Vegas Trip!

sealy, how do you want me to account for your change in the smilies? I see it a few ways, and the choice is yours. You say you're back down to zero. Didn't you save the money expecting to use it during the summer? If so, you still saved it! All savings is meant to be spent, tomorrow or 50 years from now or anywhere in between. Some Savers count money going into savings, and don't count the money going out because that was why you saved in the first place! Other Savers are strictly the "if it's not in the bank it's not saved" sort of Savers. So their amount goes up with deposits and down with withdrawals. Their annual goal is their expected bank balance at the end of the year. What kind of Saver are you? And what would be your tag line?

Tobinikui: $14,594.20 on 8/18/2017 (Goal: $23,210.00)
At least my tag line can get in for the September smilies! I had updated my table, only to have the internet wipe it away. Oh well.
I had had big hopes for this year, financially, but it seems as though we will just end up treading water. We're out close to $5k in legal fees, which burns me up. We get a bill, I pull money out of a subaccount to pay. Then next month, I pay the subaccount back, instead of getting ahead. One day, it will end, I know, but it's so frustrating in, the mean time.
DH and I sat down & went over the notebook of information that I compiled for him. He was very appreciative and said it was helpful. It's about 75% done, I would say. It's so hard to get anything done with so many competing priorities! Little ones, work, sleep, half a second to myself. Ha. I do still need to run our credit reports. I haven't done that yet, or made copies of our important documents and given them to family to hold onto.
DS will be starting pre-school in 2 weeks. That will be an additional expense, but I think ultimately, it will be a big help for him, in terms of speech development, socialization, and getting him more interested in potty training. Time will tell!
Based on where we are now & how much we have left to save vs. how much of the year is left, I think I will end up around $4k short for the year, all in the Emergency Fund. Not ideal by any means. Man, what a long slow slog.... Just keep swimming....

Having to take out of savings for some improvements to one of our rentals, and will have to take out again next week as its time to pay for one of the car repair bills.
Less then $5K to our savings goal for the year, but with all this coming out I am not feeling great about it. I have a no spend week scheduled for this coming week as well as for the month of Sept. Hopefully that will help us get back on track.

bankergurl- I think we are doing a no spend September as well- we need it! If it's not an expense related to the kids' bdays or the house addition, we aren't spending.

I'm probably going to step away from savings goals for the rest of the year and concentrate on paying off some loans instead. This past week we paid of the remaining $5k on the mini-van. Next, tackling the $6k we still have in student loans. If we stay on track, this can be cleared by yearend.
Also working on finalizing my dad's estate. Helping my brother sell dad's travel trailer. Between that and dad's savings account, I should net about $8k. Debating on how to use this. Part of me wants to use to take my family on a Disney cruise (should cover the whole thing and transportation) but then I worry about the emotions I might feel in doing so. I want to be able to enjoy the cruise when we go. I also struggle with just putting it in savings because then I'll feel compelled to track it separately to figure out what we do ultimately spend it on or if it's saved indefinitely. His passing was complicated for me because we weren't very close but had just started to become so.

How many others on here do some version of a no-spend week/month? What does it look like to you? What purchases do you allow? What exactly are you trying to trim?
