Yeah, so derby stuff - t-shirts, work out gear (which I needed), etc., was my downfall this weekend. I don't have any regrets, though. Plus I will have managed to skip an entire CostCo trip (when I go this weekend, it will have been 4 weeks since I went, instead of the usual 2), which means I haven't spent there. And since it's really hard to get out of CostCo for less than $100, I'm not as far behind as I could be. I also did not run to the grocery store this weekend, and don't think I'll need to do so this week at all.

This should be a fairly quiet week. Roommie E got his clearance to go work in Sweden, so he'll be packing up and prepping for the move. I don't have a date for him to be gone yet, but it will be sometime in the next couple of weeks, which will likely result in a dinner or two out. I will definitely need to make it to CostCo this coming weekend.

This week is a little hard to plan. My father flies in Wednesday evening, and I'm not exactly sure of everything we're going to be doing and how much he will let me pay for. So I am upping the "unplanned" spending for the week to $200. I know that's a lot, but we're going to be doing some work around the house, and I don't know exactly what we'll need to get for that.

All of you are doing well. I have been doing well keeping within budget. Trying to stay out of the stores as much as possible while I am slowly going though things at home to see what I can dispose off. It is a slow process but every one item that I can get out of the house is one less for me to deal with. My gas expenses have been reduced a lot as I am not driving as much. Lately only filling up about once a month. I know that that may change over time but I am enjoying the savings as of now,

3catslady you're doing great! I'm curious ... can you buy a flat of water to put in the fridge and take one to work every day? Also, you did a great job saving up for the fridge ... could you save up for a washing machine/dryer so you can do laundry at home?

I'd have to save up for a plumber and an electrician before saving for the washer and dryer. I live in one room and don't even have a stove. My meals are mostly microwave. I have a crock pot that I make stews in but that is about it.

$0.00 spent today.
I bought a house but my son and his family live in it and I have a room with a bed, table, fridge and a few other things but no sink and stove. I have a full bathroom with a shower instead of a tub. That's enough for me.

All of you are doing so great. This week's expenses are the usual needed items -- grocery, gas, insurance premiums and RXs. I have the insurance premiums quarterly -- these used to be taken out of salary but since I retired I am continuing the coverage. i will start prepayment on the one with the least amount soon so that I can spread out the due dates and they won't all be due about the same time. (Officially they will but if I schedule things out as I think I can I can juggle that somewhat.) This coming weekend is the first of several craft shows that I am scheduled for. I will probably have the opportunity to register for next year's show then. I will do that as we get a small discount as well as knowing that we are set for the next year's show. it took us several years to get into this one and we don't want to lose our spot. None of the other shows are like that. Other than that I don't foresee any other expenses except for a few utility bills and a hair cut. I should have enough in the house to avoid the grocery this week and the car is filled. Keep up the good work all.

I didn't keep super close track of what I spent last week. Mostly I paid for a couple of meals and for us to go to the Museum of Flight and my father paid for everything else. This week we're starting to get back into the swing of the academic year. All of my faculty are back, but students aren't officially back until next week, but it's taking some adjustment from me. I've actually been really good about not getting Starbucks 3 times a week for the last month or more, so this week, I am allowing myself Starbucks every morning. Plus I have a visit with Pop Tart today, which will include a birthday gift as I didn't actually get to see her for her birthday. This weekend will also include going to see the new Kingsman movie with friends.

Forgot to put my therapy copay on the planned list for this week, so I've added it. It's definitely part of the plan, so added it. Did not buy Pop Tart a birthday gift last night. She's thinking about what she wants. It was otherwise a good visit. I did have to go straight from a visit with her to down town, so I swung by McDs for dinner, which counts as my dinner out this week.

Realized the ankle brace I wear when walking the dogs is coming apart (as ankle braces aren't normally meant to be worn for weekly 3+ mile walks), so I need to stop by a drug store tonight and pick up a new one. Got my 4th Starbucks for the week this morning. Back to normal next week. Also bought my movie ticket for the matinee showing tomorrow.

In addition to ordering the ankle brace, I also got some compression socks that should help with the plantar fasciitis pain, and keep me from re-aggravating the weak ankle that's the cause of the plantar fasciitis pain to begin with. But doing that took me to over $40 in unplanned spending. Otherwise, the weekend went as planned. I did all of my running around on Saturday and did not leave my house on Sunday.

Back down to 3 Starbucks for this week, though it will also be the first full week I've worked since sometime in August, and students are back on campus this week, so hopefully I won't be regretting that "only 3 starbucks" decision. I am meeting friends to go see a Miyazaki movie in the theater this evening. But first, I get to go to my PCP about my knee. She will no doubt refer me to an orthopedic specialist (good chance I'm going to need knee replacement surgery - the question isn't if, it's when - and that's been the question for almost 20 years, so the when is probably coming up), but I get to start with her. In addition, roommie E will leave Sunday to start his new job in Sweden, which means we're planning dinner out or something for Saturday night, and probably shouldn't let him pay for it this time.

Apparently, I will have to do 6 weeks of physical therapy before I can be referred to an orthopedic specialist about my knee. Honestly, I've known I would need eventually need surgery on this knee for 17 years. If I can put it off another few years with more PT, I am perfectly fine with that. I did get my flu shot while I was there yesterday, though, so at least that's out of the way.
