Unless coughing counts as exercise, I'm still in hell - I mean sick. Can't bend over to get things out of the lower cabinets, definitely not getting any exercise. Yay for all those that are making progress and getting compliments! You need to pass that crud off to someone else.

over 12k steps in yesterday as well as donkey kicks, bicycle crunches, bridges, reverse crunches- then i got a crazy cramp in my abs so i called it a day, skipped the last few things i had planned and just stretched for a while. I'm not going to lie- I can feel it today. my core is SOOOO weak- working on building that strength back up, it just takes time.

Building muscle? I think it is difficult to compare... both machines have settings for speed/ incline or resistance. You work different muscles on each machine. How about trying the elliptical and see how you like it. Check your caloric burn and compare. Or, do both!

I have always burned more on the elliptical... but i also work harder on it. I move faster and use more resistance. Probably best to just try it and see if you like it better. Even if your calorie burn is the same of slightly less... liking it better will be more motivating than doing something you don't like as much just because it burns more calories.

One thing to consider is that elliptical will generally be easier on your joints. So, considering you've been mentioning your joints hurting, it's probably not a bad thing to try.

BUT, I have no joint issues/pain when running, so when I want to run, I can. All that said, when I go to the gym in the mornings, I do whatever I think I have the energy for. I tend to work out before work, and my goal is to get 45 minutes of exercise, and some days, no way do I have the energy or drive to run. So I pick something else. I also am a fan of switching up what I do. If I stick with the same boring routine, then my body plateaus and I get bored and don't want to do it anymore. So, for me, it's all about which exercise will I actually do and not want to stop part way through.

Also, now that I posted that, I am feeling super guilty for having eaten cake and ice cream for lunch (we had a celebration for my works 150th birthday today) and knowing that I'm not going to make it to the gym in the morning.

One thing to consider is that elliptical will generally be easier on your joints. So, considering you've been mentioning your joints hurting, it's probably not a bad thing to try. True. I started taking aleve in addition to the glucosamine. It's starting to feel better already. But I'd like to not have to rely on drugs to make me feel normal.

So I tried the elliptical. I think it's better than the treadmill. Better on my knees and I was sweating like crazy. Once I got in a groove, I didn't realize how long I had been on there and only got off because it was time for zumba, which was lame. My regular guy was sick and so another teacher filled in. She's nice, but her class is so easy. Plus she messes up a lot. I wanted to leave, but a bunch of girls already had and I felt bad. I hope my regular teacher is back tomorrow. I need him!

Don't know if it's because of the elliptical, but the fitbit says 13,508 steps, 5.37 miles and 2,453 calories burned. Woot!

I seriously need to get my ass back in gear toward being healthier. I weighed myself at the hospital, it's up, not much, but it's up. I weigh 55.9 KG /123 lbs.

Okay I'm joining in because my clothes are starting to get tight and I'm starting to get a little belly. I'm doing MyFitnessPal right now and my daily goal is 1300 calories. I also try to work out daily or else I can't eat, lol! Today I did a yoga "HIIT" workout for 30 mins, but so far I only have 357 calories left for the day. And it isn't even 3pm yet (the witching hour)!

I haven't weighed 123 pounds since high school. I hate you. I'm 4 foot 6 inches, I look like a pillow, but when I do lose weight I feel better. I prefer to feel better instead of feeling like a couch pillow.

I've been mediocre on eating this week and had a yuuuge delicious plate of food in Chinatown last night, but I weighed myself this morning and haven't gone up at all, I've pretty much stayed the same the last week or so. I had a grilled veggie wrap from a pizza place for lunch because I haven't shopped to bring stuff, so I have to shop tomorrow to get some more healthier lower point stuff. However I noticed today my work shirt and my Columbia fleece feel a teeny big looser in the stomach, so that's a good sign I guess!

I'm doing the elliptical again tonight. If my zumba teacher isn't back tonight, I'm just going to stay on the machines and not even go to the class. I'm kinda interested to see how long I can hang. But I do love zumba.

She is such a sweet and fun instructor with a WIDE variety of workouts for all different levels. She just finished a 30 Day Hatha Yoga for Happiness series, and she has a beginner yoga series as well. Her channel is Fightmaster Yoga.

Well, I'm going to swim tonight. My shoulders have been so sore the last couple of weeks I couldn't have gotten through a workout, but no excuse anymore. Also I've been eating like shit, so...
