Why would Russia hack into a utility in Vermont? Sounds too bizarre to be the truth. One thought . by useing small states grid, possible less chance of being spotted... point is they may just be testing right now to see how hard, how easy to disrupt a system...this isnt the Soviets against us...Soviets are dead and buried except still remnants of that system around and in power..Putin, NKVD...being one of them. He is still trying to make Russia relevant in the world again and actually at war with us whether we know it or not...seems kerry, Obama realized it...doubt the Donald will want to accept that even when shown proof by our intelligence agencies...doesn't like the message..ignore it and if pushed, will probably kill the messenger if it suits his purpose..

I don't want to look for a commie under every rock. Then don't. I am probably less concerned about attacks or terrorism than any conservative alive. (For some reason they seem to be wired a completely different way.) I spend zero time worrying about any of it, and don't even think about the subject unless someone asks.

Liberals had more gray matter at least in the anterior cingulate cortex, a region of the brain that helps people cope with complexity.

I did find out to cover your tracks, you go thru many infected computers in one port out another to make it hard to track.
Your computer and mine may be used to do this, we wouldn't even know.
As my son once said, what software do you want Pop, I can get almost any thing you want free.
The only secure computer is one that is unplugged.

[sigh]....u just don't get it do u Shooby...thishas nothing to do with what or what they may or may not have done with hacked e mails...your country has been attacked..in one case it was a attack to influence interfere with our electorial process..in this case a direct attack on a vital part of our economy, well being as a nation...basically a act of war as Senator McCaine just mentioned....and our intelligence services put out the proof..[since then Russia has remained quiet] By the way..just a few minutes as I watch "Sunday Morning " on CBS...it was announce the Donald still isn't convinced that Russia has hacked into our systems..either one so far mentioned..

I don't know if there is a plan or not. I would guess though that if there WERE a plan to disrupt the U.S. that crashing the electrical grid would do a lot of damage in a lot of areas. Additionally, I would guess both that it would probably be easier to hack and crash a small utility than a large one, and that crashing even a small one could have a cascading effect on others connected to it, including much or most of the Northeast such as Washington, D.C., New York, Boston, and Philadelphia. This morning while channel flipping I caught a report the computer in question was not connected to the grid in any way, and the report just jumped to conclusions. Probably someone playing a game of chess on line with someone in their basement and they were infected!

Don't think so..not what I am seeing/READING ..suggest don't be in such hurry to just support the Donald...he won..but he has problems and if u want him to be a successful POTUS he is going to have to make some major changes in his actions and comments..or not , but if not, not good for any of us ..IMHO OF COURSE...

Kind of like credit card fraudsters tentatively placing very small fraudelent charges on a credit card to test and see if it will go through.... The Donald thinks Putin is is buddy because he "said nice things". Putin is playing him like a piano.

Yeah, we are in a weak position because of a weak administration that let our energy and power needs languish.
This is a complete fabrication and emblematic of the anti-Obama BS that keep spewing forth when it is so easy to disprove. For instance, under Obama domestic oil production is up 72%. And then there is this:

Oh well, we only have so many days left for the liars on the right and their likers to embrace such falsehoods.

And then there is this: Do you credit Obama with the increase of oil production? Our production is due to fracking, and Obama gas dragged his feet for years on this issue. If you want to give him credit for increased production, please list everything he has done to increase production.

My post was in opposition to that which was bolded.
I simply said that under Obama production increased 72%. Read between the lines all you want.
I also added a link that also dispels the untruth that Obama let our energy needs languish.
If you need to pick on something start there.

From the above linked article.
"The intelligence community has found itself in this position before, including in attributing a highly destructive attack on Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2014 to North Korea. In fairness, the reticence in both cases is likely justified by the interest in protecting sources and methods used to detect such attacks. And as Lee was quick to note, strong technical evidence is likely to be included in reports to Congress that later may be declassified."
