I had a conversation here (with DJ I believe) some time after the primaries but well before the election. It had to do with people who were going to vote for Trump and their reasons. I said then that I thought many more people were going to vote for Trump but just weren't saying so. I based that on a couple of conversations I had with friends - one of whom said something along the lines of not liking either candidate but being so sick and tired of the pettiness, nastiness and denial of the Clinton supporters, she was going to vote for Trump. I said then that I was thinking there were a lot more out there like her and I said I hoped I wasn't right. Well...I was. I'm totally convinced the attitudes of a large number of Mrs. Clinton's supporters are what caused her to lose this election. Totally convinced. Yes...she has done some bad things but so has Mr. Trump. That was a wash. It wasn't that and it wasn't the Russians or Comey. It was the attitudes.
I believe what Einstein said - if you keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result, you have issues. So keep it up if you want to look at another 4 years of Trump after the first term (assuming the right can't come up with someone else). And another 4 years of something other than what you want after that...and after that. For me, that's not a good thing. But keep it up and that's what we'll get. If I were as unhappy that Mrs. Clinton didn't win as it appears the majority of Americans are, I think I'd try a different tactic. This kind of pettiness and nastiness lost the election and this kind of pettiness and nastiness will keep people turning away the next time around. Good job!

However, I am at a loss on how to go about criticism Trump. He has done some things that REALLY need to be highlighted, critiqued, and condemned, but every time I do, it's tossed back at me "you're just mad Clinton lost" or "But Hillary/Bill/Dems/Obama."
I don't like where political discourse in the country is heading.

I agree 100% with you. Some things do need to be highlighted. The stuff that hurts our country - our people. I also agree with the answers one gets when being critical, but that goes both ways. It's usually a result of "I have no defense". We need to work on that. You are 100% correct and I've said it before. We can't have a discussion even there that doesn't result in a "well...Trump" or "well...Clinton".
It's this vapid, mindless stuff that is hurting and I don't understand why people don't see that. It lost them the election and it's going to keep on costing them. Honestly...it seems like people get up in the morning and scour the internet for the dumbest stuff to be mad at. I'm awfully afraid there is going to be real stuff soon enough.

So his baiting a foreign country isn't "real" enough for you? So the conflict of interest stuff isn't "real" enough for you? Before even taking office he is using his position as P-E to further enrich himself. Not "real" enough? Refusing to place his assets into a blind trust not "real" enough for you. Having benefitted from the direct intervention of a foreign government not "real" enough for you? Refusing intelligence briefings because he's a "smart person" - not "real" enough for you? His "victory" rallies where he continues to campaign instead of reaching out, not "real" enough? I'd love to know what it would take to reach the threshold of "real stuff"

So please, show me the meltdowns you refer to on this thread?

The American people chose to make him POTUS knowing all of things you call "real". They simply don't matter. It is going to take bodies, not drones. It is going to take proven situations of Americans losing jobs because he agreed to something that enriched him at their expense.

I have no idea how many Twitter followers that President-Elect Trump has, but I will say that the media (and people who share media stories) seem to be doing a bang-up job in ensuring that his Twitter messages get even more play and attention than they otherwise would have.

True. It also creates a distraction from some very serious news stories.

Seriously, never was. A German Professor at my school got into a fight with another Professor that voted third party (personally, think it was bullocks he got mad at him for third party) but he's furious because he said that he's been studying the effects, his parents were part of the holocaust and that how can the Americans not see the signs that were going back in time...that history is repeating itself. Like the man's been studying World War 2, the Holocaust, Hitler, how it all started for basically his entire life and he's terrified right now for the United States. Among other reasons, not just those alone. -- But the fight was kind of crazy :'x was very out of place as it was in the middle of the hallway where everyone can hear and see and so much shouting. >.> -- I know a lot of Republicans as well, even people that voted for him that think his twitter posts need to stop and believe he needs to stop with the sexist, and racial slurs, because they do believe it's not okay for a President to do so. They merely voted for him because they trusted Clinton less, but they still want him to stop being such a disgusting pig. -- Yes, ordinary people can say some of the things he says... but to be honest... A President SHOULD always be held to a higher standard. The stuff that comes out of his mouth shouldn't as a President. Which Bullocks? Was Sandra Bullock one of the bullocks involved? I like her, she's pretty! *sorry... couldn't help myself.

Good job! Personally I think the bolded is just a BS excuse. Its as if some are choosing to forget all the pettiness and nastiness of the last 8 years while Obama was in office ... and the election season for the 2008 Presidential election. There is always pettiness and nastiness in political supporters of anyone. Blaming one's vote on the other side's supporters seems disingenuous especially when that means ignoring supporters like David Duke, etc. Own up to why you really voted for Trump.
And if for some reason you voted for Trump simply because some Clinton supporters pissed you off, I wouldn't trust your judgment about anything important if I knew you. Clinton supporters would not be elected, Hillary would. Picking a President based on what supporters you want to tell STFU seems a really stupid way to choose a President. This is not even voting against the candidate. This is voting against a candidate's supporters because you don't like them.
For many who supported Clinton it was not a wash at all between the candidates on bad stuff. Trump is proving to play into some of those nightmare scenarios with his cabinet picks. Trump is no W Bush. And I think I will be proven right in that Trump was a worse choice than Cruz. Cruz would not be picking such a far right slanted team. Trump is pettiness and nastiness personified. His tweets aren't love notes. They are generally misinformation or pettiness directed at someone.
IMO, these folks just voted for the brand of pettiness and nastiness they preferred. YMMV.

People voted for trump because they didn't like the direction this country was headed in. I don't either. I hope he can fix it but I doubt it.

I'm talking about THIS thread....this ridiculous thread based on a misspelled word. Of course there is stuff that merits real discussion. But please...continue to have meltdowns over nothing and guarantee us at least 8 years of this. Keep reading into stuff only what you want to see and you'll help guarantee us at least 8 years of this. This shit has already cost us dearly and I'm done trying to have civil discussion with the people who keep on trying to cost us more. Who is having a meltdown? I've just seen people think it's funny - again, not because it's a simple misspelling, those happen. Because in this particular case, it's hilarious. I mean honestly, "unpresidented" coming from a PE, on Twitter? That's not funny??
So please, show me the meltdowns you refer to on this thread?
I think too much attention is being paid to his tweets as a distraction to the more important issues, but I agree, "unpresidented" was really funny. Best. Typo. Ever.

Yeah, they hated that unemployment is now about half what it was 8 years ago And overall employment is up about 7% It's just awful that the market is up about 250% from 8 years ago Homelessness down GDP up Shameful tbat gays can marry the person they love That Obama never did "come for their guns" All that silly "hopey changey" stuff. Yep, they hated the direction the country was going So they voted for the KKK's choice: a bully who got rich defrauding others, a misognyistic who openly cheated on his multiple wives and has made unseemly comments about his own daughter, a xenophobic who has declared he will deport American citizens of the wrong religion a man who mocks, in front of TV cameras, the disabled an unstable person who lurches from one position to another because he has no grounded beliefs of his own because he's going to turn the clock back 50 (or more) years OK then
