As I stated, I am back, but on a limited basis. I thought I might make it a game for everyone and we can have some fun! Reasons, are one or more of the following.
1.Spent eight weeks in Ohio volunteering for a certain candidate, door knocking, phone calls, etc, then moved on to Michigan, doing the same until Monday 2.Was dealing with twenty weeks of chemo treatment with a family member, and was physically and mentally torn apart dealing with everything as well as a mother-in-law serious health issues, and brother-in-law diagnosed with kidney cancer, winding up car pooling to three different cities every week for quite a few weeks. 3. Dezi showed up, so I decided to take a vacation so I would not get banned. 4. Saw Laura's post about playing nice on the politics board, and said, "no way Jose" and banned myself. 5. Hit the Lotto 6. Was so disappointed in the one sided politics board where there were four people representing one side, and decided on exile until after the election. 7. If I stayed on the politics board, I would have flat lined by October 15th, so left for saving my physical and mental health. 8. Combination of 1 and 5 9. Combination of 1 and 7 10. Combination of 6 and 7
Feel free to take your best guess and reply. On Monday I will release the correct answer or answers.

I guess I did miss something on the boards. We did have an election and elected a new President! Have tried to catch up on the various threads, but posters have really been busy! And 90 percent of them got it all wrong....... I must congratulate Trump. He did blow up the Republican party. What I did not understand, Bernie started blowing up the Democratic party, but Donald dealt the fatal blow to the Democrats on Tuesday. We had a twofer on Tuesday. Both parties are soul searching to see where they went wrong, and neither understand it was their elitism and scorn of the citizens of the U.S.A. But Democrats truly got the last laugh. We elected a Democrat to the White House. Unfortunately, neither party wants to claim him........

Welcome back! My guess is #10. This board represents both sides of the political aisle equally though. I have heard that numerous times, didn't you know that?

VB welcome back. I won't guess at your reasons. I probably should take a hiatus. I don't think I am up to dealing with the 5+ people and growing who are going to be posting they know how I think.

The timing of 3 is wrong, and 4 assumes posters pay attention to warnings by admin, which is plainly false. 5 is improbable. This also rules out 8. 6 clearly isn't true since there are only four kinds of threads on the Politics boards: 1-on-0 (topic is too complex), 1-on-1 (debate between two long-winded posters [generally Virgil and DJ]), 20-on-1 (progressives on conservatives), and 20-on-0 (progressive echo chamber). This also rules out 10. 7 is true. You wouldn't have mentioned 1 if it wasn't also true. Hence 9 is the correct answer. What do I win?

Just in time to find posters here that would willingly run over protesters with their car. Can't let those folks have "temper tantrums" without a visit to the ER.

Think about it, if he resigns or is impeached we have my hero, Mike Pence in office, everybody on the far left worse nightmare. Pence is well far right of Trump......I am shocked how the media is praising Pence when they tried to destroy him just last summer.

I really wished I could have been involved in Ohio and Michigan Unfortunately it was 2 and 7 Number 3, evidently the timing was wrong, but it is also true. Four was also true. It sent me over the edge, but unfortunately number two added to any of the above, was just too much for me. We are not out of the woods yet. Seven weeks of five treatments per week of radiation will start soon.

Okay, an explanation of sorts.......... We were in Florida this winter. One morning, mid March, I got up as usual, my wife an early riser was already up. I go in the living room, and she is in a chair crying. I asked her what was wrong, and she said "my breast woke me up itching. I felt a lump." Talk about getting set back on my "behind"........ and obviously, she felt even more scared than I was. I wanted to pack and come home, but she said, no, I will call my friend (her childhood best friend forever) and, see if I can get into her doctor. We were in that morning.......Doctor felt the lump, and sent us to a cancer doctor and were in the next day. Scheduled biopsy, and then operation. All within 23 days. I felt it was way too long, after detection, but it seems you wait with cancer, whereas if you have a heart attack or stroke, service is immediate........seems 23 days is actually pretty fast based on various test that have to be done. Original testing said stage one, after operation -in the lymph nodes, moving to stage two. Asap after operation, we decided to come home for chemo, and made arrangements with a cancer center back home. After being released from her Cancer surgeon we came home, and saw the chemo doctor. He said he did not like the report from Florida, wanted another biopsy on the lymph nodes, as he felt there might still be cancer in one or two left in. Scheduled another surgery and sure enough, another lymph node was cancerous. Stage three. We were devastated.

After released from this surgeon, back to the Cancer center. Program consisted of two chemo drugs 1. Adriamycin- four treatments, one every two weeks. Some of the women here probably recognize this drug. It ain't fun. Actually my wife had a fairly easy time with it. Treatment on Wednesday, fine Thursday, Friday afternoon feeling worse, and by Friday night, a mess until maybe Monday afternoon, before you start feeling A LITTLE BETTER. Tuesday blood work, then the following Tuesday more blood work and then Wednesday back for #2 treatment. After four treatments, we started 12 treatments of Taxol, one every Wednsday, with blood work every Tuesday. Doctor and nurses said the Taxol is easier than the Adriamycin, but she struggled harder with the Taxol
This Wednesday we meet with Radiologist to schedule mapping for the radiation. After the mapping is done, we start seven weeks of radiation.
I am emotionally drained and crushed, and I am not the one going through this treatment. I guess in a small way I am, but we all know it is the person being treated, that has the bad part of this......

Wishing her all the best. My wife is an oncology nurse and it is very common for this to have repercussions on the spouse. Get plenty of rest.

VB- hope all goes well with your wife's treatment and there is no reoccurrence in the future.
Last week I brought a friend to her chemo session. This is her fourth time being diagnosed with cancer within 10 years. She had a masectomy the first time. The secondctime, a cancerous lump was found under the skin where her breast was removed. Third time cancer was found in her neck, and this fourth time, within her torso area.
Second and third bouts were treated with radiation. First (which I brought her multiple times for treatment) and fourth times were/are chemo.

A few things..............we all know how hard our wives, mothers, significant others work to maintain house conditions........ Well I thought I knew......... I have had to prepare meals, but have drawn the line at frying bacon. I am not getting attacked by spitting grease ever again......Thank God and Oscar Mayer for microwave bacon, but it ain't the real stuff. Make sure her regular meds are taken at proper times. She has diabetes, not too serious yet, and this complicates the treatment, and do not say anything about the steroids she had to take the day of treatment... I wound up buying a new washer this summer. She complained about it but I did not take her seriously enough...oh brother.......until I started doing the laundry. Maintaining one bathroom for her exclusively trying to keep it amazingly clean for her- can't have any complications from infections, etc. She has trouble sleeping through the night, and I have not had eight hours of sound sleep since March either.....
I know I am rambling.........but now you know why I have not been around. Politics and cancer do not mix..... The other thing I want to say, is you really learn very fast who your true friends and concerned relatives are real fast. There are people who I would never think would not be there for her at a drop of the hat, but evidently some people will drop you like that proverbial hot potato. Lucky to even get a damn phone call Enough from me tonight..........

I do not want to go into any detail but My wife's biggest fear was she would lose a breast, and I would not think of her as a woman.....I never understood this......but she did not lose it. Cancer/chemo team always said there are no guarentees, but he also said we are here to defeat this specific Cancer incident and has been nothing less than a fountain of support and positive vibes at all times. I and my wife were so comfortable in the chemo room. Nursing staff is amazing and helpful. I have never seen such positive energy not just from the staff, but from all the patients. It is really hard to describe but this place is almost fun. I am welling to bet most of the posters here have regular doctor's waiting rooms that are more of a downer where patients are sick and it shows in their attitude and demeanor. We have learned so much from this journey. Cancer treatment so so advanced from twenty years ago. It is amazing how each patient's course of treatment can be so different.

No splatter screen for the bacon? You can cook it slower or microwave using the following recipe: Put a couple of paper towels on newspaper. Place the bacon on the paper towels and fold it all over. Cook for 4 minutes and check doneness. Proceed as necessary.

Cook the bacon in the oven and bake it. Use a baking/cookie sheet. Lay some parchment paper on the cookie sheet and then the bacon on the parchment paper. Clean up is easy. And the parchment paper does not burn.
Parchment paper can be bought at the grocery store.

I know how hard it is to fight through chemo and all the associated misery that accompanies cancer treatment. It's hard for the patient and hard for those who love and care for that patient. My thoughts are with you and yours. Begone, damned cancer! As an aside, the hyperglycemia may well subside after the treatments are over. It's not an uncommon side-effect.
