Inspired by muttleynfelix 's post on FB, let's come up with ways that today we can show kindness to those around us. To not see others as an inconvenience to our path in life, but as individuals with their own path & a chance to enjoy where those paths cross.
My work facility doesn't have feminine hygiene products available in the restrooms. We've talked to facilities, and it's not in the budget. Instead of bitching about it, I am going to go buy a basket for each restroom from the dollar store and stock it with a couple of the basics. It will cost me about $10, but will be a nice little touch for those that need it.
And.....GO!

Ok so this so small, but I've noticed this homeless guy around with a shopping cart picking up cans. So, I started leaving my cans from work in a bag where he can easily get them. (Iowa is a deposit required state, so he can take the cans over to Caseys and gets cash immediately).

I am rallying up in the "Pregnant and job hunting" thread on behalf of all women. Does that count as being kind ?

DS is in Texas (business trip) & a friend of DDIL surprised her with concert tickets last night (short noticed / found out at 4) so I got to babysit GD2, GS3, GD3 and GD1 & GD3 even came over!! Oops posted to wrong thread, it's supposed to be DO one nice thing, Not ONE GOOD THING so can I claim watching 5 kids on a 2 hr noticed is doing a good thing?

I just want to commend the 4 people over here that are so nice. This thread should be on fire! I'm always nice and don't want to show you all up so I'll not say much else. Did you believe that one? Wait - I bumped Sam's nice thread. Phew! Now I need a nap.

Five kids qualifies as five good things so you are good for five days. Unless you locked them in the garage with chips and soft drinks like I would have you're good. I'll try to do something good tomorrow and report back.

Took the 2 yr olds to a congregation picnic without their parents yesterday. They had a great time, I even had almost 5 minutes to relax This gave DDIL time to build her deck

I'm driving to Orlando airport to pick up the daughter of the girl I went to Ireland with and her friend and deliver them to their hotel. Then I'll take them to dinner and give them my free drink coupons that Southwest sent me thinking I couldn't use them. So they will!!

Today, on my way into the office, I walked out of my way to pick up litter in the parking lot. Also let a co-worker fill her cup of coffee first and made the next pot. Wiped down the counters while I was waiting for coffee.

I've started carrying a bag with a bottle of water, granola bars, box of raisins, and nutria grain bar or crackers in my car and if I see a homeless person, I give them that. It is super easy and once I handed it to the person, I noticed her dig into the bag and pull out the raisins and start eating them. It was some validation that this is the right thing. I think I will add hand warmers in the winter.

Think I'll branch off you and hand out socks

Not that I did once nice thing lately but just saw this article of someone else doing one nice thing. Grandma Calls Wrong Number for Help, Car Salesman Shows Up AnywayIt was a regular work day for Dang Vuong, a 34-year-old car sales manager at a BMW dealership in England - until he received a surprise phone call from an injured woman who had dialed the wrong number. Rather than brushing off the mistake; however, Vuong rushed off to help her. The woman, who had meant to call her granddaughter, had mistakenly dialed the car dealership after she slipped and fell while drawing a bath, ChronicleLive reports. Vuong happened to pick up the phone, and he went off to the woman's rescue after hearing what happened. Before Vuong left the dealership showroom and traveled to the woman's home, he instructed the receptionist to keep her talking until he could get there. Once he arrived, the door was unlocked, so he went right in to help. Full article below. Grandma Calls Wrong Number for Help, Car Salesman Shows Up Anyway

I'm still working through all the posts, don't know how I haven't seen this thread until now. but I love this idea.... it's so easy, especially for those of us that stock stuff like that. I know I just bought 2 cases of Kind bars, and we always have 1/2L bottles of spring water. I think I'm going to do the same. I used to collect toiletries from hotels in my work travels, since I couldn't ever really use them (allergies suck!) and would donate to homeless shelters. that's a tip I learned from a friend from NYC.....but I haven't travelled in a long time for work, and the stash just isn't there anymore.

What a great idea, I will do that too. I would prefer to give those then money. Surely they can use it, if not guess they will throw it away, but the money won't go for cigs, booze, or drugs and I will feel better if nothing else.

My daughter's best friend's grandma, the grandma that raised her, had a massive stroke last night. I drove the friend to the hospital around 5:11 and waited there until my daughter got there. Then I took my grandkids home, fed them, and got them all set up for bed. This noon, I went back to the hospital. Her grandma's in trauma ICU. But she's doing better.
The granddaughter did not have any dinner, breakfast, or lunch and it was 1:00. So I took her to lunch in the hospital cafeteria. We're running some food back to her this evening.
The better news is that the patient had TPA and is doing better. She is able to sit up, has manual dexterity, and is only suffering from expressive aphasia 💔

I offered to help a young lady here at work by letting her ride to work with me each day. She just started & she's really struggling right now. Getting her is on my way and I can flex to have the same start time. But not having to worry about gas money will be a help for her.

Gave some cash to a bum on the Walmart parking lot. Rare that I do, but this guy looked so tragic to me.
