AMLP long. You know from yesterday to now, I still have the same amount of money I had and I still used the same amount of energy I used yesterday to today, and that is not going to change anytime soon. The EU will still go broke with or without England except now England is not going to go along with the ride. LOL

Going with GLD (long). Gold should be a temporary haven in a uncertain market. (I hope).

My first instinct says ZIXI, long.....
However, Mod & Ty have me thinking...should I go with NUGT? (long)? Think I'll stick with ZIXI
And Clark, who is selling the seat belts That might also be a good one for this week!!!

Long BCOR (Blucora Inc. - Internet Information provider) This is a stock I own in my real life portifolio. It was the only stock I own that was up on Friday on over twice the average volume. It came from the earnings beat MRQ with recent upward estimate revision screen. When a stock is up on a day when most of the indexes are down can be a good sign. Here is the weekly chart stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=BCOR&p=W&b=5&g=0&id=p63248511778 Kadee71 each player needs to provide their own virtual seatbelt. Play at your own risk this week because it could get nasty.

Friday I lost 3 to 4% on my IRA stock funds, but fared better on personal stock positions, although they all lost money on Friday. Asian markets were stable this morning, European markets down 2 to 3% range. Do we see short covering later this week? Do we see forced selling in margin accounts today and tomorrow? Do we see selling in Ira and 401-k accounts due to people scared and getting out of funds? Do we see some stock appreciation after today and tomorrow? Lots of ways for the markets to go this week!
Last week it seemed to get lost that, the fact American steel companies were assured of the penalties on Chinese steel imports.
Will go with US Steel again this week on a bounce back from last week's fire sale. X, long. If markets continue a strong fire sale most of the week, I will have the basement to myself.

Hey you'all ..... let's keep our "cool", huh?. Clark's numbers are always the final and official ones, huh?. If my numbers are right ... we do have 2 positives. D.I.'s short & Mod's gold pick. The rest of us used red ink today.
And the Dow being down only about 1.5% ain't bad; I vividly recall the day the Dow dropped about 25%. I think that was Oct.19th, 1987. I had a good friend that was a floor trader on the Chicago Board of Options, .... he said some guys just dropped their paper work, and walked out, but some other traders ( upstairs type), had been buying "penny puts" .... they made a fortune that day.
Today's quote: "The market's just a bunch of numbers; no big deal"
========================= out of pure curiosity (my memory), I clicked on BigCharts "historical quotes" button. DJIA (Fri.) 10/16/1987 2,246.74 (Mon.) 10/19/1987 1,738.41 down 508.33 (-22.62%)
so the 1.5% drop yesterday on the Dow wasn't too bad; was it

Just going to ride this all out. Yes, "cool" is the word for strong hands. "Panic" is the word for weak hands. We will lose $$$ for a time, but in the history of the stock market it always comes back stronger than before. How long the Brexit effect will last is yet to be seen. Going to ride it out. Fortunately have nothing on margin, so patience is of the essence, and "cool" is a vital way to see it through.

So far this morning we are seeing some decent recoveries from yesterday's losses! I might be even positive after today if I get real lucky. It seems like if we wind up with a positive number on Friday's close, no matter how weak it is, we can consider it a darn good week!

Good thoughts, VB. Common sense seems to be returning, just hope it stays. Yes, it would be nice to end the week in a positive manner.

I just added some information to my post 10 ( re: the huge drop the Dow had in 1987 ). Today's rally could be some shorts pocketing some trading money .... let's polish the crystal ball, huh.
Cheers to all......................

I don't know the exact wording on the referendum but if it was as simple as leave or stay, I don't see how they could overturn it without severe political repercussions. It probably won't take very long for them to work out most of the issues anyway.
