Tomato pie? Is this what you mean by tomato pie?
They sell that here everywhere. It's good, especially if you get it at a real Italian deli. I buy mine at a little Italian place around the corner where they sell home-made pasta, sauces and fantastic olive oils. We don't call it tomato pie, though.

Now I want some of that carrot cake but it's not sold here in VA! Boo hoo hoo! It looks like the closest place is a farmers market on the Eastern Shore. Do you know if any of those places ship?
I like ice cream, but I love good pastries and cookies from an Italian bakery better. When I visit family in CT I go to Mozzicato's in Hartford to get my fix. They have the best almond biscotti and their chocolate hazelnut cookies are to die for! I never can remember the name if them, just go in and point.

The dough consistency, temperature, sauce, and cheese are all different. Around here (southeastern PA), tomato pie is a cold, Sicilian-looking sheet, and the sauce is sweeter, the dough is lighter, and the cheese is just a sprinkle of parmesan. Like in the picture you posted. Addictive, but not a pizza. My uncle has an Italian bakery, I grew up on the stuff. I could devour a whole sheet right now. Damn it. In Trenton, NJ, a tomato pie is a hot pizza with the sauce on top, which around here is just called a red top. In the South (I believe it's a southern dish), a tomato pie is a literal pie with tomatoes. The term tomato pie is used differently depending on the region, but it's just not pizza.

Pizza is, at its best, a buffet of savory flavors, especially if there are toppings on it. Tomato pie, while not a dessert, does lean more toward the sweeter foods than the savory. It is still full of tomatoey yumminess, but in a very simple, straightforward way. Does that help?

ETA: This kind I have not had, slide #7 in the link. St. Louis Style Pizza: Thin unleavened crust, a three-cheese blend called Provel. And the toppings spill over the edge. Sounds worth risking a sore throat over for a taste or two.

So I may have found a solution to the lumpy-stuff-in-my-otherwise-yummy-ice-cream problem. I had to go back to Safeway yesterday as I had forgotten to get eggs and cheese. (Don't judge me; I was distracted by ice cream. It could have happened to anyone.) On the way to the cheese aisle, I just happened to find myself in the ice cream aisle and noticed that the same brand had salted caramel gelato. No lumps. No butter pecan flavor in it, of course, but still. Salted caramel gelato. It's in my freezer as I type. I'll let you know after I've tried it.

No, not Talenti they had that brand, but it wasn't on sale. It's from the same brand as the salted caramel butter pecan, Open Nature.

There's a great hole-in-the-wall Asian grocery store near me; the boys and I love to go there every other week or so and buy not only our favorites but we also often pick out a random thing to try. Going back to ice cream, the salted caramel haagen daz gelato is incredible, plus no lumps. Seriously the best salted caramel anything ever. Is in the small ball containers.
