Every time I look at one of these quizzes I think of the Kohlberg moral development test and how a big piece is missing from the quiz design. Kohlberg understood that the answer is actually never as important as the rationale for the answer.
I'll try it. But I don't put much stock in them generally...

Kohlberg understood that the answer is actually never as important as the rationale for the answer. I'll try it. But I don't put much stock in them generally... The answers are far too black and white to put too much stock in them, just curious how others rated on the two quizzes and how they felt it fit with how they would rate themselves.

I was like 25% c to 75% l, but generally was unhappy with almost every answer I had to settle for

Cannot open thecfirst link on my tablet.
I could open and did take the Pew test. I noticed in my results I was 76% for Obama and 24% for Romney. Romney?

I got "solid liberal" on the pew quiz. Apparently I'm right in line with my "affluent, highly-educated" peers.

ETA: pew quiz came up with Next Generation Left - Generally young, well-educated and financially comfortable, the Next Generation Left have very liberal attitudes on many issues, including homosexuality, abortion, the environment and foreign policy. While overall supportive of an activist government, most are wary of expanding the social safety net. Most also have relatively positive views of Wall Street’s impact on the economy. While most affiliate with the Democratic Party or lean Democratic, few consider themselves strong Democrats.
like oped, I didn't like either option for many of the questions, but that description is pretty accurate for me.

Next generation left and 26%c-74% l Many of those choices are too far apart. You either have something extremely conservative or extremely liberal. Not too many "centrist" choices. I know that I'm way more conservative than 26%!

Both "tests" are disastrous FAILS. The way they're worded pushes those who respond into pre-decided boxes. I'd be willing to bet most people won't fit into those boxes. I did copy my results:
Your best fit is...
Young Outsider
along with 13% of the public.
2012 vote: 37% for Obama | 48% for Romney
This relatively young, largely independent group holds a mix of conservative and liberal views. And while more lean toward the Republican Party than the Democratic Party, Young Outsiders generally express unfavorable opinions of both major parties. They are largely skeptical of activist government, as a substantial majority views government as wasteful and inefficient. Yet many diverge from the two conservative typology groups – Steadfast Conservatives and Business Conservatives – in their strong support for the environment and many liberal social policies. Compare groups on key issues.
PEW: You are 43% conservative and 57% liberal, you are Left-of-Center!
Your political beliefs fall on the left side of the spectrum: you believe in strengthening gun control, supporting workers' rights, as well as women and minorities. You do not blindly support the military, and may even believe the budget to be bloated. While not an all-out socialist, you do believe the government should take a role in providing a safety net for its citizens. We are the greatest country in the world, after all.

I got 78% conservative on first and business conservative on the 2nd.
I consider myself fiscal conservative and social liberal. First quiz was all about business issues.

I'm 61-39, a moderate conservative. That sounds about right. I'm pro choice but anti welfare. I'm in favor of departing illegals and cutting back on military spending. I'm surprised there weren't more questions.

I think I blew it up. It says click to get your result, but nothing happens when I click. The second one calls me a "steadfast conservative".

The first two put me at Moderate Conservative 56-44 and Next Generation Left. I would have put myself in the Slightly Liberal (whatever they call it) contingent, somewhere in the 45-48% conservative, 52-55% liberal range. Very limited choices for answers though, I agree.
The longer test put me in the Libertarian Left quadrant, though a little further from dead-center than I would have expected.

The longer test (dj's) has me on a horizontal line with Ghandi but only one block off the center. Libertarian, slightly left.

According to the first quiz : You are 29% conservative and 71% liberal, you are Left-of-Center!
According to the second quiz. Your best fit is...
Hard-Pressed Skeptic
along with 13% of the public.
Deeply financially-stressed and distrustful of government, Hard-Pressed Skeptics have reservations about both political parties, but more lean toward the Democratic Party. In general, they want government to do more to solve problems, but have doubts about its efficiency. Hard-Pressed Skeptics are among the most cynical about the ability of individuals to improve their lot through hard work. These attitudes may reflect their distressed financial conditions: Hard-Pressed Skeptics have the lowest average family incomes of any of the typology groups
The first one seems about right. I'm skeptical about the results of the second one. I really wasn't happy with either choice on several of the questions from the second quiz.

The 2012 chart is also interesting:
So much for Obama being an ultra-liberal or communist. Of course, some of us knew that. (They do have him a bit further out on both axes than I would have put him.) Striking just how close he is rated to the GOP candidates.

I couldn't figure out how to get my grid to show up here. But I was about 2 blocks higher and one block to the right of where Chiver's dot is.

Striking just how close he is rated to the GOP candidates. every US president in post-WW2 history is in the upper right hand quadrant. most nation states (when subjected to this test) are also in that quadrant. and that kinda makes sense. speaking for myself, i am in the lower left hand quadrant. that is why i have not much good to say about nations, or presidents.
