Pathmark closed a few stores in my area. I went during their 50% to 70% sale on all / certain items. I think this is an example of how Over Priced they are. Attachments:Pathmark Close.pdf.jpg (355.58 KB)

Well, I've been buying the same milk in TJ for years and it's the same price, so are eggs. We've been buying meat at a farm, and I think they kept prices fairly consistent.
I did notice that certain items don't go on as much of a sale anymore. Newman's salad dressing I used to get for no more than 1.99 - that hasn't happened in years.
Produce is really hard for me to compare, bc there are stores where you can get it much cheaper, but I am not sure about quality. I am one of those snobby people who pretend that quality of certain foods matters.

I live in an area with price gouging, so it is always hard to tell if the costs are really going up or not... Part of the fun of rural living.

Buy only what you will actually eat/use. Buy extra when it's on sale. Don't buy it when it's gone out of site, unless it is a basic item such as bread, eggs, milk, and stuff like that. Some sale things are cyclical, so if you can't afford it this month, maybe you'll have saved enough for when it goes on sale again next month. coupon when you can. Price track so you know what the prices are for comparison. Buy generic/store brands. and yes, unless it is a loss leader to lure you into the store, most prices have gone up due to bad winter weather, higher transportation costs, holidays. Dented cans are usually ok and marked down for fast sale. Alot of expired stuff are still good, especially if it is dried stuff or canned stuff.
