Does it deal with the sexual harassment suit that was against you (but was proven there was no sexual harassment going on)?

So our worst fear "me losing my job" might come true. Not sure yet and still missing lots of details. But I was proactive, reached out to the headhunter that was thinking of me for Harris Teeters , filled out a couple of applications and we will see. Checked MA unemployment and it comes down to ~$675 or so for 30 weeks. So that is about 7 months to figure out my/our next move and find another job by then. I might call BJ's on Monday and see if their last offer still stands... Who knows? A paycut is better than no income! Wife is freaking out and instead of being supportive we got an a big argument over it. Even if I don't get fired tomorrow I need to get the hell out of this company! Oh dear - WTF happened? ??

The interview went well. She said she had some other interviews set up next week and wanted to meet with everyone. She is calling me next week. I think I stand a good chance though.

Hi guys! I've been doing well at my new job, but the pay is crap. I came across a job posting, and it was just so perfect! In. Every. Way!! I am coming up on the second round of interviews. At a minimum, it will be a 50% increase in salary. If I'm lucky, maybe 60-70% increase. This job is with a well-known company. It is my job to lose. I have beaten so many people to just even get a phone screen! But then a first interview and then a second with the committee!!! This job is mine to lose! And I feel like this horrible pit in my stomach. This is the real job that I have been looking for, and I feel so close. I can't even begin to hope. Because I have hoped before for jobs that I thought I was going to get, but I didn't. I was crushed. I don't want to hope because I am so scared. But I want to believe this next week that I might just be able to. I just want this week to believe that I can. I spent the past year proving myself at this job, and now I know that I can kill it, but the thought of having to prove myself again...killing myself doing it. I want this.. But I'm so scared, but I want this. I just needed to let that out into the world! Sorry for the rambling and the incoherent mess that are my thoughts in this moment Sorry for quoting myself, but.. I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!! Scared shitless. 50% increase in salary! This is what I have been working for! I just have to not fuck it up!

Hi, sorry for leaving you guys hanging but been dealing with a lot. As of Saturday I was put on administrative leave (still getting paid) pending investigation and afterwards I can go through the ACT process to get my job back. The accusation is that some people in my stores never received the training that was charged for them... I am so fed up and pissed off! I have been at that store in total of 2 months and really? I don't want to work for them anymore. My wife is the one freaking the most and cannot stop crying, I just want to find a job and not go back to that place.
I have applied to different companies so far but the leading one is the Harris Teeters job. My wife would prefer we relocate to the VA, MD and DC area but the costs of living is just out of this world. I am more for NC and SC... lower cost of living and NO SNOW!!!
Anyway staying positive here. Even if I were to lose my job, MA unemployment should cover all our needs for 6-7 months at least and savings for another 5 (I would prefer not to have to use savings). So I know we have about 12 months covered or really 6 before I start freaking out.
Also not sure I am ready to relocate so that is why I am continuing to apply in this area...

Carl, I'm so sorry that your company is treating you this way. I hope that you find what you are looking for and happiness. Sometimes trials like this are actually the push we need to really find ourselves.
Best of luck and keep us updated please.

Sorry for all of this B.S that you are going through. If I remember correctly you both already commute for a fair amount of time. The cost of living for DMV does a quick drop as you move a little ways away. Sounds like someone has it in for you there however.

Congrats sunny!
Geez Carl. It seems like someone is gunning for you, first the harassment charges and now this. Better to leave on your terms than waiting till they find charges that stick.

Carl, I'm sorry. Is it possible that they have heard through the grapevine that you are interviewing with other companies?

wvugurl26 I figure you are the best to ask since we are considering the general vicinity of where you are located. We are thinking and my request was anything within 1 hour commute from DC since my wife will need to find a job so VA, DC and MD. Where would we suggest we land? Being in the heart of DC would be expensive rent wise and while being outside would be less expensive, commuting into DC is not much fun either. At the beginning phase of the process so not even sure if I will get the job.

TheHaitian, there is something so wrong here. I am so sorry that this is happening to you guys. Can you still get unemployment if they don't find in your favor? I'm thinking of what happened to NomoreDramaQ1015's husband. Please forgive your wife. She is scared. You guys have always said you could make it on your salary alone. But you can't make it on hers alone. So it has to be really scary. That doesn't make not supporting you "right," but it is so hard on her. If I had to choose, I'd come South (but then I'm Southern). However, there IS snow in the Carolinas. There is snow in Alabama. Good luck! I hope this nightmare ends quickly for you guys. But I wouldn't be waiting around for the third strike.

The cost of living in the carolinas may not be as low as you were hoping for, too, depending on where you may end up. We know folks in the research triangle in NC with a debt load similar to yours and the same amount of income as you (perhaps even more.) Should they have kids, they will rely exclusively on family for whatever care they may need because there's no room in the budget for them to pay for daycare. Housing looks to be pretty expensive as well..250K isn't enough to get you into a good public school.. The mountains, though, are gorgeous.

Carl, I hope that this situation works out in the best interest of your family. You should become familiar with your company's severance policy. Some companies offer a severance payment in exchange for the employee signing some sort of contract indicating that they will not later sue the company. I switched jobs in the past 8 months and, candidly, there was a part of me that was hoping that I would get fired before I left because I would have received severance that would equal 2/3 of my annual base salary. Good luck to you!

Well, two places have given me a pass. I'm interviewing with 3 more in the next week or so. All small places, under 500 employees. I've never worked at a small company. Is there a huge difference?
My current work situation hasn't really changed. It's been pretty sucky the whole time, so no big changes. And it's only been a little more sucky for me than everyone else. Honestly, I would have left a year ago if DH hadn't urged me to keep the status quo until we got settled into the new town.
