minnesotapaintlady That is great that he went with you and got something from it. There is no way my ex would have gone. I am not sure if he has learned anything or not.....assuming no, since he still owes me $5k in back support from when he was laid off work 5 yrs ago. Probably could take him to court but instead I just hassle him and when I get it....bonus!! Goes to savings.

Seriousthistime, $1,228, 2/26/2016 (Goal $8,148)Nothing outstanding here, just plodding along. I said at my last update that I need to get busy selling some of my furniture and household items to beef up the moving fund. Still haven't moved ahead on that.

Had our Disney vacation last week. Used the Disney card, which has to be paid off by this weekend. Pulled no money from actual savings and still sent money to savings, so I am very happy with that.

So, I'm feeling INCREDIBLY wealthy right now and very, very blessed. I had a month with more OT than I ever had in my life and a ton of travel reimbursement (like nearly $1000), I got both my Fed and State refunds, my medical FSA reimbursement, a lump some for some back child support and cashed in $400 in credit card rewards. I'm shipping off this money right away and going back to being poor next month, but for the moment I'm going to bask in the glow and smell all the roses. It feels so good to know if my van crapped out right now I have $7200 just sitting there waiting to replace it without hitting emergency savings. I hope I have a couple more years, but that would get me a decent, reliable sedan. Fund | 2016 Goal

Thank you! I'm so excited! It will probably slow to snails pace the rest of the year, especially since a good chunk of that is taxes and FSA claims, but then again, my boss's boss just called me and wants me to travel again tomorrow and work this weekend so who knows? I can't work like I was though. Stuff was falling apart at the seams at home.

If so, my boyfriend and son went on that last August....amazing trip!! Teachermom Yep. My son and his Dad are going this August. I have to pay the airfare this month and the final payment in May. I may not have to make any of the final payment because my son has a lot in his scout account and there is one more fundraiser to come before the trip which is spring plant sales which he usually does well with. It sounds like a blast, but hopefully he doesn't get sea sick. Seven days on a relatively small boat.

minnesotapaintlady My boyfriend and his son took Dramamine and didn't get sick when everyone else did. Key is to pre-load on it for 48 hrs before, I believe, and then take daily no matter what. Teachermom

teachermom - Thank you! I'll let them know that. It would really suck to plan for two years, pay all that money, then be sick and not even be able to enjoy it fully.

The Haitian 2/25/16 ----> $10,717.22 / $50,000.00Since I had an ooops, I figured I might as well update. My 401k contributions did not start yet which is sad because I almost had a heart attack when I saw how much I got taxed on my first weekly paycheck : $544 Still haven't decided if I want to do 2015 ROTH contributions and that would require moving some numbers/goals around. There is no way we could add more to the 50k goal! It is a stretch as it is! That is one more thing that WIR has done for me. It's has given my financial life more perspective. I can "See" some things I didn't see before...or maybe chose not to see??

Update! scrgrl47 1/30/16 $8,010.18 (Goal: $43,050)
We found out this week that the company's bonus pool is only funded at 52% this year. The bonus target in most peoples comp plans is 10% of salary, so most people will end up with ~5% of salary. This isn't anything to balk at and I'm grateful that I (a) have a job and (b) get any bonus at all but at the same time, I've been busting arse for this company all year so it would be really nice if things were different. I'm also not seeing a merit increase right now because of a planned (but delayed....) promotion. Hopefully the company holds up their end of the bargain! Go savers! Fund | Last Update

Attention Savers,
forwardwego and I are going to do the February updates next weekend. This will give everyone a chance to get their month-end updates in, with a few days to spare.
Happy Leap Day!
Please have your numbers updated by Friday morning, March 4. We will get to the smilies and shoutouts sometime over the weekend.
Great job, Savers!

I sold our old microwave last week on FB, so that was an extra $80 to savings! Now need to get the fridge cleaned out and sold, should be able to get at least $800 for it. I am happy with all the little snowflakes we got this week, plus rent. The other $2250.00 we get in rent goes towards the mortgages on the houses. Someday (in about 15 years!) when they are paid off that can all go to savings!
We passed $10K in contributions!!!
Current Deposits = $9,209.00 +$25.00 My Payday to Our Savings +$25.00 My Payday to Mom Loan Savings +$101.00 FB Sales +$9.00 Even Out Amount +$90.00 Super Bowl Tab Winners +$9.00 52 Week Challenge Week #9 +$10.00 52 Week Challenge Week #10 +$400.00 Rent from basement +$600.00 Rent from Rental #2 Total Deposits for 2016 = $10,478.00
Banker Gurl : 2/29/16 $10,478.00 (1/1/16 $0, WIRS1) Goal - Contribute $12,000

Since last update we had to pay for a new garage door for Rental #2, and cover some overage on bills now that I no longer have any OT coming in. Still happy with where we are at.

UPDATE
megaptera: 2/29/2016 $9,545.00 [1/1/2016 $0.00 / Goal: $19,500.00]
Savings | Current | Goal | % | Land | $3,395 | $12,000 | 28% | Car | $3,000 | $3,000 | 100% | House | $3,000 | $3,000 | 100% | Christmas | $150 | $1,500 | 10% | Total | $9,545 | $19,500 | 49% |
I realized I hadn't updated for January, so this reflects the past two months. We got a substantial tax refund (DH started a new job last summer and apparently needs to adjust withholdings ), and he's been working a ton of overtime.
I'm going to continue to contribute to the car and house funds as I can. DH's car is going to need to be replaced probably this summer, and our house still needs a lot of work before we can sell it.
Have a great week everyone!

FPU was good on Thursday. Makes you take a good look at all your expenses, why you choose to spend money on what you do, what you can cut, what you can save, etc. Still working on reviewing my budget and fine tuning it to determine what I can cut and what I can save. I will finish it up and post before Friday.
Got a refund from an overpayment on a dental bill...that went straight to savings along with what I had left from last months envelopes....added another $330 to savings. The next baby step I need to work on is 3-6 months of savings.....so I will use this to start it. Will show that on my update.
Have a great week!

I made some changes to adjust for... adjustments. Isn't that what happens - you make plans, then life happens and everything changes.

I will have to update after I see my CPA. I have been holding off putting into savings just because I'm not sure how much my taxes will be this year. I believe next year I can probably get away with turbo tax (unless a family member passes.) So it will be after the 2nd week of March. My hope is to be able to put in a nice bit of change.

Slow progress. Unfortunately, I won't be getting a refund from Uncle Sam to help with savings. At least I don't owe any taxes. I hope to be able to save more after i pay for my two trips. -movinonup

The Haitian 2/25/16 ----> $10,717.22 / $50,000.00Still haven't decided if I want to do 2015 ROTH contributions and that would require moving some numbers/goals around. There is no way we could add more to the 50k goal! It is a stretch as it is! Account | Goal | Balance | Difference | % Saved | Saving | 13,500.00 | 9,000.00 | 4,500.00 | 67% | Carl Retirement | 18,000.00 | 674.42 | 17,325.58 | 4% | DW Retirement | 7,500.00 | 1,042.80 | 7,155.96 | 14% | Carl 2016 ROTH IRA | 5,500.00 | 0.00 | 5,500.00 | 0% | DW 2016 ROTH IRA | 5,500.00 | 0.00 | 5,500.00 | 0% | TOTAL | 50,000.00 | 10,717.22 | 39,282.78 | 21% |
So I have been thinking about this since I posted! I am awaiting my bonus check (not sure how much it is); refund for my travels to CO for job interviews and also $300 deposit from Dr Not sure if that will be $2,000 but it sure will be at least $1,000 and I will swap my goals; instead of going after maxing 2016 Roth... I am going to max 2015 Roth for the both of us or at least come close. I have March to finish reaching $11,000 but it will be close! Then I have a year to figure out how to put money in the 2016 Roth.... If my wife lands this new job she applied for it would be feasible but not sure she will land it! Hitting bonus for my company would definitely smooth it over! I am torn between sticking with the $50,000 goal or go for the $60,000! I don't want to set it to high and get down on myself for not reaching it!
