They fought me on UIB but apparently lost bc I'm on it. No job offers, apparently a seasonal worker but adjusting. Texted that I had work piling up on my desk so I said I'd be in, they said 'not yet,' yeah I'm seasonal. DS still cannot walk but doing water therapy and his employer let's him telecommute due to medical status (all except a trip next week) at full salary. DIL is having difficulty keeping up with her orders GS1's job put him on summer break but he interviewed elsewhere this week. GS2 (15) is working construction. Guess I rubbed off on them? Seriousthistime, $4,451, 7/1/2016 (Goal $8,148)Halfway there on some accounts; more than halfway on others. No roses yet... There should be another bit of a bump to the moving fund in the next month. I haven't arranged for a regular deposit into the moving fund yet. I'll start that with the next paycheck. This is the first summer weekend in a LONG time that I didn't need to spend time in my badly neglected yard. Hurray for hiring help with that huge chore! Next, the plumber needs to come out and fix a few little things. That's scheduled for Tuesday. And I need to finish cleaning the garage this weekend. I started last weekend, put some things at the curb, and filled two trash cans with junk. (One of the trash cans WAS junk so that was taken away too!) I'm adding kitty litter to old latex paint so I can put it in the trash, and am going to an oil-based paint collection in a few weeks. I've got a box of car care products posted on FreeCycle and hope to get rid of that this weekend.

Why not just sit back, collect unemployment, and enjoy the summer?

UPDATE
megaptera: 7/4/2016 $13,445.00 [1/1/2016 $0.00 / Goal: $19,500.00]
Savings | Current | Goal | % | Land | $7,195 | $12,000 | 60% | Car | $3,000 | $3,000 | 100% | House | $3,000 | $3,000 | 100% | Christmas | $250 | $1,500 | 17% | Total | $13,445 | $19,500 | 69% |
I'm a little late with my end of month update, but here it is! Not great, but not horrible. As I reported a couple of months ago, DH took a substantial drop in pay for more stability at his job, so savings has become a struggle. It's a good thing we had already saved (and paid) for many of our land development costs (permitting, engineering, etc.) because.....we broke ground! It will continue to be a long process (clearing, installing septic, etc.), but it's finally begun. We are also continuing to max out retirement accounts, so we're doing ok there. The car should be paid off by end of August and DS1 will start paying for some of his expenses, so things should ease up a little in the next couple of months.
Thanks for the shoutouts, Forwardwego!
Good luck to everyone with their continuing financial goals.
Hope everyone has a fun and safe July 4th!

Praying for you and your family through this difficult time. It's a legal issue, so I am not talking about it beyond revealing that it exists, and at the moment has a $51k price tag attached, that is likely to rise.

Hi all, I just finished up at racers, so here I am at savers. I hope I'm doing this right! Things to note: I am a renter but would like to buy in a few years if possible. My husband takes care of our one car, as he uses it way more and he bought it before we met. That said, he has a cyclical job wherein he often loses his job after the election. It's unclear if that will happen this year, but if he does, I want to save as much as possible before then to help cover that employment gap. My stretch goal for the EF is $8,000. Account | Have | 2016 Goal | Emergency Fund | $2,202.17 | $6,000.00 | Christmas | $0.00 | $500.00 | Total | $2,202.17 | $6,500.00 |

nodebt42 , Congratulations and welcome to the savers' thread, a place to help keep that debt gone! Hey there bankergurl ! I'm missing you. You've blown past your original savings goal and you've asked for suggestions for adjusting your goals. I had felt a little out of my area to be suggesting how you should save, because you are already so good at it... BUT I've since had an idea I hope you'll like: You and your MO make an amazing team. So how about keeping your original goal, BUT determine to achieve it at the level of 200%, earning a dancing banana for each of you. You can do the banana dance as a couple!!!

I know this is small potatoes, but I am soon going to transfer some "found" money to my moving fund.
First, I sold something at a garage sale. I have the cash in hand but need to deposit it and transfer it to the moving fund account. + $95.
Next, I got a gift card ($75) from my health insurance company for filling out a health assessment and questionnaire. I'll use it for general shopping (groceries, etc.) and transfer the equivalent amount out of my checking into my moving fund. +$75
Next, I participate in a big multi-year (longitudinal) study where several times a year I have to fill out long questionnaires or even have someone come to my house to ask me questions. I just filled out one such questionnaire. +$20.
Finally, as part of that longitudinal study someone will be coming out to my house to draw a vial of blood for DNA and other testing. I was prepared to say no to that because I know I'll have to have my blood drawn at the doctor's soon, and being a pin cushion is not fun. But then I found that I would receive extra money for this, so I agreed. Not sure when that's going to be done. +$50.
So $240 will be added to my moving fund over the next month or two. And I'm going to start transferring a regular amount to that account starting with my next paycheck.
The moving fund will probably be my first rose.

Hi all -
I am still here, albeit quietly lurking, and waiting for my pay to return to 100%! Soon, so soon. Baby girl is 5 1/2 months old now, and is doing *great*! At this point, she's a regular little baby, just very very small for her age. She did just hit the 10 lbs mark last week though, and our pediatrician is very happy with how she's doing. I'm not quite ready to believe we're out of the woods yet, as she still has some follow-up appointments later this summer and fall. But we are getting there! Thank you so much for all of the prayers and thoughts you sent our way - we were blessed by each and every one!
We have ravaged our savings this year. Ugh. It's painful to admit, and even more painful to have done, but we save for a reason, right? Without any exaggeration, we are now starting again, from ZERO. We have savings set aside for our school tax bill in September, and car insurance in mid-August, but above and beyond those two amounts, we have less than $1000 in cash to our names right now. I am NOT proud, even though I know that's more than a lot of people have at all! At this point, we are treading water until mid-August, when my pay check will go back to 100%. I am back at work as of this week, but due to the lag, and timing, I won't see the pay increase for four weeks. We will be saving every single penny, and will be bulking up our cash savings again ASAP. I told DH that we are going to focus on the cash savings until our emergency fund is full, before we start doing anything else! So, basically, that's the plan for the next year and a half or so. I will gather up a list of our savings goals (which will include a lot of money we owe to ourselves from accounts we raided this spring). I had listed the first bunch of these on the WIRR side as "debt to ourselves", but honestly, it's savings - we're just so much closer to the edge that it feels like debt! (And to be fair, we just broke down and bought a minivan, so now we have a car payment (and a non-mortgage debt) again).
Anyway, I am going to start this savings journey from scratch again, so feel free to wipe my slate clean. I hope to get a numbers post up this weekend, both for here and WIRR.
Tobinikui ER Fund: $0 (2016 Start $4,134.17, Goal $TBD)

Here are the numbers!
Account Name | Original Balance | Remaining Balance | Paid Off / Paid % | Random | $600.00 | 0 | 0 | Christmas | $1,469.53 | 0 | 0 | DSD | $1,400.00 | 0 | 0 | DS | $500.24 | 0 | 0 | DD | $2,200.13 | 0 | 0 | Taxes | $500.00 | 0 | 0 | Insurances | $500.00 | 0 | 0 | ER Fund | $10,000.00 | 0 | 0 | Total | $17,169.90 | 0 | 0 |
We didn't actually drain $10k from our emergency fund this spring (it didn't even have that much to start!), but we did probably use about $5k from there. $10k is just the first step of getting it back to where I will feel comfortable. I would like to aim to get at least $12,000 saved by the end of the year, but even that may be a bit of a stretch. Thankfully, I break down our big bills into monthly amounts, so our upcoming big ticket items will still get paid without any problems. But, I am ready to start seeing these accounts go UP again, instead of down, down, down! I'll probably start with a couple of the "easy" wins to check off a couple accounts, and hopefully by early October, we'll be steadily moving in the right direction again! Tobinikui: $0 (Goal $17,169.90)

My only goal for July is just to get through it. It's crazy here and it will remain so until next Friday night.

sealy I'm glad you are here. The end of the month is hard for a lot of us (too much month at the end of the money?) But I'm glad you have checked in. How much do you think you could put in savings and not touch when you get your August check? Even if it's just a little it's a start. You can do it! Jaguar It's good to see you too! I've missed you too!! I'll be glad when you have successfully finished out your crazy July. How about August??

@forward I won't get paid a full check till Aug 31. I will get a small one on August 10th that will be used to survive the rest of that month.
