This week- exchange sweater (no luck)- bottle bank- enter marks- finish exam (this is VERY late now) - write + send resignation letter - enter more marks - MSc: 3 5 papers - pharmacy - see A The other primary teacher is absolutely furious with me for quitting because legally there have to be 2 teachers on the premises, so if they can't find a replacement, they have to refund the parents' money and the other teacher (ie her) is out of a job. No guilt trip or anything. One thing I've learned through all this is I do NOT want to work for a small association again. So I've been using ALL my spare time trying to find someone to replace me, which means I'm behind on everything else. She has a friend who is coming to see my classes tomorrow, but she's never taught and she's not a native English speaker, so I'm still trying hard to find someone else. And it's coming up to the one-year anniversary of my friend's husband's suicide so I need to make time for her this week since we were away last weekend.

I know Chocolate but I really don't want to be responsible for the organization losing all this money and for this woman to lose one of her main sources of income. I'm not sure I'd stick it out but it certainly has set a fire under my butt to try to find a replacement. Not that I hadn't before, but I spent hours on it tonight (instead of working).
ETA: This said, they were stupid to hire me with zero experience teaching little kids. They even admitted it ... they said we were hesitant, but you were the only candidate who was free on Wed afternoons (little kids don't have school then) so we went with it despite our hesitations. IOW, you have a pulse and you're free on Wed afternoons, so we'll offer you the job 2h later by email, sight unseen. Great management.
But I don't want to be responsible for taking this program down, nor for screwing my colleague out of her income. I'm not saying I'll stick it out, at this point I probably wouldn't. But I WILL do all I can to find a replacement.

I know it's hard Debt, and you're a good person so you feel bad, but even they knew it probably wouldn't work. I hope they ALL are hunting someone as hard as you are. More

Thank you Chocolate. You're absolutely right, they are NOT hunting as hard as me. The idiots placed an ad looking for someone to teach 4YOs. Like teaching 7-8YOs isn't hard enough LOL.

The other teacher should really be angry with her superiors who put all of you in this position by taking "anyone with a pulse". (Isn't that how you put it?) I am so glad that someone has the disposition to teach young kids and I hope you find a few to apply and soon! (It'll never be me though, I have a hard enough time with my own kids lol)

That's actually how SHE (the other teacher) put it. But she's not wrong, that's what it boiled down to. I had ZERO experience teaching little kids (not including my own) but I had a pulse and I was available Wed afternoons, so they couldn't even be bothered to interview me, they just offered me the job by email. I had also applied to two other business schools, both of which also offered me jobs, but NOT 2 hours later by email. I was definitely wrong too to accept the job so quickly. Like you say, I tried.
I am glad too, and Lord knows it's not me lol.
One of my friends and Book Club ladies actually runs the bilingual section that my job is an offshoot of. We're not close, but we've known each other for decades. She actually called me last night to tell me that she has been informed about my situation, and that I absolutely need to do a formal resignation letter ASAP if I don't want to be on the hook for the rest of the school year.
Which I will do first thing tomorrow morning.

What a pickle, Debt! I would not feel guilty about quitting because if you decided to stay, you would be miserable and the kids would suffer from the tension. I think you are very professional and dedicated, and no one will be successful if the fit is not right.

So sorry Jeep I hope the other surgeons are very good.
Sorry to hear about your DH's grandma Iggy.
I've been working on my Christmas shopping. The downside is I have boxes everywhere and the delivery guys probably hate me. But the cardboard recycle bin was put out with the trash this week so it's empty and ready to be filled.
I'm working at home the next few days so I can catch up on my laundry. Not having a 2 hour round trip commute will help me.

Nice work, debthaven!
Iggy aka IG, sorry about your DH's Grandma!
A full morning so far. I attended the Grand Opening of a new grocery store that was just built less than 2 miles from my house. If you purchased $100 worth of groceries, you got a free $25 turkey, soooo... I did the bulk of my holiday shopping (I'll just need the fresh stuff the week of), so now my pantry & freezer are FULL. I've got most of my baking supplies, too. I already warned DH that we'll be eating out of the freezer for the next week or so, as I'll need to room for any baked goods done up in advance.

I am so far behind on Christmas baking, I may just skip it this year. I've had years in the past, dee27 (mostly when my kids were little) when other than a pie or two, I just couldn't get any baking done. Luckily, we've got some really good bakeries, including an ethnic Scandinavian one, which has made my life easier. Do what you gotta do.
