WOMEN CRY FOUL AS GLAMOUR MAGAZINE NAMES BRUCE JENNER ‘WOMAN OF THE YEAR’25 Oct 2015 The politically correct Glamour Magazine has reportedly waived the one defining requirement of candidates for its “Woman of the Year” honor—a double X chromosome—in conferring the title for 2015 on crossdresser Bruce Jenner, a move many women are finding insulting. The magazine is expected to formally announce its choice of Jenner as woman of the year, along with actress Reese Witherspoon, on November 3. Criticisms are already piling up from women who find the choice of Jenner to be demeaning, and are falling into two main camps. First, out of all the real women in the world, could Glamour not find one worthy of the title of Woman of the Year without needing to fish in the male pool of boys dressing as girls? ... This crap is seriously going way too far. The "woman of the year" isn't even a woman. Shouldn't there be at least a few prerequisites for that? Like... I dunno... being a woman?

I believe Glamour's award are for 'Women of the Year' and Jenner is just one of a select number of women so honored each year. For example, Last November, Laverne Cox was name a Woman of the Year by Glamour magazine. Laverne Cox is transgender too. Yet no one screamed foul last year. Here is a link to a list of last year's Glamour Magazine's Women of the Year. There are more than one person honored each year. Bruce got a boob-job, and put on some make-up & a dress. How is that "Woman of the year" worthy? This is just as bad as Obama's Nobel Prize "for what you might do".

I just changed the link/article in reply #2 to an article listing all of last year's winners and why they were awarded. As to Jenner-they honored Laverne Cox as I noted earlier. I do not believe Cox has had the surgery to remove her male bits. I could be wrong. But if she still has them, she is no different that Jenner. But again, Jenner is not being honored as Woman of the Year but is being honored as one of several Women of the Year. I do think some people have had more than enough of Bruce Jenner in the news. I know I have but then he is tied to the Kardashians whose notoriety bores me to death and of which I have zero interest. It's a magazine honoring women. It's not like Jenner is being named Playmate of the Year by Playboy. So.....meh.

Have to admit I don't read this magazine, or any fashion magazines, and I'm pretty indifferent to anything the whole Jenner/Kardasian cohort does.
If I had to guess, I would guess Glamour did this to raise their profile and maybe sell more magazines.

so how are the articles? Good? Used to be OK. The pictures were better.
Been a long time since I've looked, er, read it though.....
Speaking honestly, who would buy Playboy with no nudes? If you want that kind of magazine, wouldn't you be buying GQ? If you like long, thoughtful articles, wouldn't you be buying the New Yorker? Is this the death knell for Playboy? Personally I never minded it - it was silly, none of the women looked like what you'd actually see walking around in real life, but as porn goes, it was pretty tame and tasteful. I just don't see anyone spending money for it now, though, without the nudes.

I really don't know what Playboy appeals to anymore. Time was when a young man who wanted to know what was urbane and chic could read up on it in Playboy (to a point....) I have no idea whether they still have that going for them.
Time was when they were proud to bear the standard of the "new" liberated male who respected women as equal while coveting their body madly. They were on the lighter edge of a few hints on sexual technique, and right into Masters and Johnson. Now?
They actually did have some good articles, which were all part of the package. And the cartoons were good.
The airbrushed women seemed to get more fantastical as time went on..... at one time they were almost real, but they kept going further and further into the realm of what I guess is Hef's ideal physical properties of a female, even if it began to approach anime art and photography blended. But they were certainly the main attraction. And the "Girls of Playboy" were supposedly everyday girls who also modeled for the mag.
To men of a certain age I think it was an institution, but it is probably only a shell of itself now. I wasn't aware it was still in publication. Haven't seen it in years. First husband had a subscription. I enjoyed the articles and the cartoons, and they used to have something like an Agony Uncle with all sorts of stupid questions and answers. That, I found hilarious! However, that was many years ago. Mags were delivered by pony express.

So, the Woman of the Year is a man! Fancy that! Now, I'm expecting pretty soon here to read bout Iron Man competition being won by a woman. Or maybe it happened already and I have no idea. As someone already asked: what did Bruce/Caytlin Jenner do as a woman or since becoming one to deserve the title/award/honor? Does being the best looking woman from all men qualify him/her for it because I can assure you we can find better looking dudes than that. Maybe they are doing it just to be pissers!

Hey, Playboy is no longer doing nudes. Probably afraid of Bruce Jenner. Playboy had a 'trans gender' woman as a centerfold around 25 years ago- how times have changed.

BRUCE JENNER ‘WOMAN OF THE YEAR’ ? Preposterous, the guy is a guy with a mental dysfunction that makes him think he's a female.
