I did not get to the part of prove me wrong,
1. If it had no power, What would power the alarm, ORRR,
2. If the teacher thought it was a bomb would they have plug it in?

Ah! Gone are the days the bombs were ticking! Nowadays all it takes is an LED clock/watch stuffed in a brief case and someone that calls his/her God Allah and voila- your bonifide terrorist!
Disclaimer:in the above example, explosive need not be present!

Those pictures are deceptive- they are not the same size- the kids clock was in a small box around the size of a cigar box- look at the plug. The size of the box is not the point. The point is that the kid ripped out the guts of a clock, he did NOT 'build' a clock; and he put them in the case they were in so that they would appear to be a bomb. It was more than likely a dry run for a terrorist attack on our schools using children as muslims are known to do. If you're blind to this, then you are part of the problem in this country. A dry run for a terrorist attack? I am not part of the problem- I am a rational person. Fear mongering Islamaphobes are part of the problem. But for arguments sake- if the plan is to bomb a school via some young attacker- why in the holy hell would you choose a bomb that has big numbers on it with plug- that is plain stupid. A backpack or maybe a Dukes of Hazard lunchbox would be the way to go- and word has it the little terrorists have succeeded in their "dry runs" as nobody has been arrested and searched for those items Another point- the size of the box is very important to those pushing the 'suitcase bomb' angle- because that generates fear- while the actual small box is not so threatening. I think I said it before- real bombs do not look like Hollywood bombs- I wonder if the Boston bombers used big red LED displays on their pressure cooker bombs, heck maybe McVeigh had a nice timer on his bomb as well so the bomb squad would have a chance to disarm it and cut the right wire while beads of sweat run down their faces

Obama does NOTHING without trying to score political points. This was the one of the dumbest stories ever. A clock that looks like a bomb in a briefcase. Oh, ok. Let's see how stupid and gullible the American public is and if we can play the "poor student Victim" sympathy card. Uh huh. The fact that some of you fell for it is very telling.

The young man probably would have been charged for attempted terrorism if the police truly believed his clock was an attempt to trick everyone in believing it was a bomb. Seeing no charges were ever filed.... I have come to expect ridiculous article titles and statements like the one above from Pamela Geller. OH, that's the standard now? If no charges are brought, then it's OK. Oh sure. Uh huh.

The kid is a little SOB troublemaker and so was his sister apparently who also called in a bomb threat.

Acording to the story, his teacher, the one who's class the clock was intended for, saw it and told him not to show it to anybody else so the man was fine. So he understood that somebody else, say a biased English teacher, might have a different reaction to the clock. As faith would have it, the English teacher DID have a problem and I don't believe the problem was a few wires with a battery pack and a display but something of a higher order.
And no, if it were a white kid and more importantly Christian, this would not have been an issue!

Oh, what baloney! We have expelled white Christian kids in my school for lesser offenses. Wow. Like I said, don't forget to play the VICTIM card!

The fact that it looks like a bomb to you without any explosives is telling too. The case he put it in was much smaller than a briefcase as well.
I don't get the drama from some of the American public trying to score points on this story. No bomb, he showed it to one teacher who saw it is no big deal but smart to put away.
Obama does NOTHING without trying to score political points. This is opinion, not fact. Perhaps you are gullible if you think Obama being involved influenced many opinions one way or the other. I'm not you, so I don't see having the kid or not having the kid to the WH as a big win either way. (Except for the kid. )

Maybe. But I somehow doubt it's a coincidence. I don't buy Paul's "dry run" theory for a minute, but a "pissed off family well known to authorities" theory I can buy. One of the comments that intrigued me in the OP of the original thread was He was led to a room where four other officers were waiting for him, including one he had never seen before who said: "Yup, that's who I thought it was." It occurred to me that if we knew as much about this boy and his family as the local authorities did, we might conclude that junior mounting a phony bomb scare wasn't as outlandish a scenario as we're assuming it to be. If this is the case, the police obviously can't tell their side of the story due to privacy laws. In any case, xenophobic or not, I somehow doubt the authorities are disappointed or ashamed that the family is moving to Qatar.

I posted the below in the other Current Events thread about this student and the high school he attended at the time of the incident. Worth repeating here. The ACE AcademyThe ACE Academy at MacArthur High School strives to provide opportunities for every MacArthur High School student to be a leader in the fields of Architecture, Construction, and Engineering. Our goal is to train, prepare, and certify students for further studies and careers in Architecture, Construction, and Engineering. From an introductory course in their first year, students can choose to advance in upper level classes in each field. From our first to third year of the ACE Academy, enrollment has grown significantly. We now have five teachers and 377 (February 2013) students enrolled in ACE Academy classes. Architecture PathwayThe ACE Academy is open to any student at MacArthur High School who wishes to choose elective courses in architecture, construction, and engineering. Our class sizes in this program are kept to a maximum of about 20 students, in order to facilitate hands-on projects. During their first year, students take Principles of Architecture, Construction, and Engineering. For their second year, students can choose to follow a pathway in one of these fields. In the Architecture pathway, students take Architectural Design during their second year, Advanced Architectural Design in their third year, and have the option to take a Practicum course in their senior year. Our architecture classroom is set up with both hand drawing and computer equipment and software, as well as tables for model building. In upper level classes, students receive instruction in sketching, measured drawings, model building, Revit software, and presentation skills. ETA: Diverse Student PopulationsOur school has significant minority student representation and participation in our programs, and we are working to encourage female students to progress in the courses as well as males. Taking a sample from a teacher's roster in the program, about 47% of the students in the introductory classes come from families where a language other than English is spoken at home. The majority of these students' home languages is Spanish, although languages such as French, Bengali, Nepali, and Urdu are represented as well. In our ACE courses, we have students with backgrounds from countries that include Mexico, El Salvador, Argentina, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nigeria and more. Female as well as minority students are continuing into upper level ACE classes. In our Advanced Architectural Design, five out of nineteen students are currently female. Similarly, our upper level Engineering Design classes have about four out of fourteen female students. Next year, ACE hopes to add Interior Design as an elective, to help encourage more female students to take courses in our ACE Academy. ACE Academy MacArthur High School, Irving ISD[/quote]

here is what i think happened: he pulled the clock apart because he wanted to know how it worked, and he brought it to school with him in his pencil box (yes, that is what that is). the clock alarm went off and some not so sharp teacher freaked out. the rest is history. prove me wrong. Yeah, you're really lousy at connecting the dots. The kid's father is an anti-American muslim activist, and he just so happened to get a White House invitation almost instantaneously when the story broke. Here's what I know happened: this was a mission carried out by an islamic extremist the purpose of which is a dry-run for future attacks on American schools-- probably a coordinated attack on multiple schools throughout the country. Americans are sound asleep. The situation is orders of magnitude worse than September 10, 2001.

... the purpose of which is a dry-run for future attacks on American schools-- probably a coordinated attack on multiple schools throughout the country. .... What did this "dry run" accomplish? What was tested? What ... hmmm ... Hell, I don't even know what questions to ask. Was there some doubt that if terrorists put bombs into the backpacks of 1/10/100/1000 school kids and set them to all go off at the same time that it wouldn't create carnage on a massive scale that is now dampened? "Thank you Ahmed, because of your daring work, we now know a student can carry a bomb into a school." I am so confused.

Did they plug it in? How would the alarm go off if it did not have power? what part of prove me wrong did you not understand? I understand the part that he doesn't have to.
