Speaking of Jeeps, DH bought a 97 Wrangler TJ today It is his third one this year - he has been fixing them up and flipping them, but I think he'll end up keeping this one for a while (both because it's the model he's always wanted and because he pretty much spent all his money on it so can't afford to deck it out ).

Don't tell my DH! DH's Jeep was a 94 Wrangler in black. DD now has a Frozen Jeep Powers Wheel car and it was parked in the garage a few weeks ago. DH said that the wrong Jeep was parked in the garage.

Marley - My DH would want your Jeep. He had one several years as a second vehicle.. When it became the primary vehicle,he didn't like it as much so used it as a trade in another vehicle. That happened 12.5 years ago and I haven't heard the end of it... I have to admit, I went from a 2004 to a 2015 and it makes a huge difference in the drivability as a daily driver! While the old Wrangler was really fun it was super bouncy and all over the road, with the new one it is smooth and safe even at 80 on the highway. Tell your DH if he was to bit the bullet and get a new one, he won't be disappointed

The first person to get a new car is ME! Me car is 11.5 years old while DH's is 5.5 years old. I'm looking at a Honda CRV as my next vehicle. With your kids, how is your Rubicon with them? I primarily drive my DD but he does pick up her once a week. We will also be TCC soon so another car seat potentially. <nerd glasses>

Lol, then you should get the new Jeep For what it's worth, I have a soft top, and it's the only way I would want it. DH keeps pushing a hard top, but he doesn't drive it every day and has no clue the struggle of getting a hard top off! I like being able to whip back the top anytime I like without a pain in the ass pulley system.

You and my DH have the same minds! I didn't even know they still make the soft top ones. Hopefully my DH doesn't find out.

Oy vey! I could have baked you one for a little bit less. Spent $125 on a distressed leather briefcase/computer bag. I bought it from the artist who made it, which made it a bit cheaper. That's not the point. At the dinners we've been to, there is a table of goodies and each table you are seated at bids for choice of whichever cake. How much you contribute gives you which choice of the desserts you get. If you donate the most money, you get first choice. Aw, I know. It's just a lot of money that you literally eat. I've bid for auction stuff before, but for things I could wear or use over time. I do like the idea of using the cake plate over again though, in the next auction. It could become a tradition, and quite the fund-raising idea.

We're probably over-improving our house. I took this picture from the lake in my kayak.
The upper deck was screened in. They've ripped out all of the screening and will be installing walls (mostly glass) to make it a 3-season room. The extension on the right will be open-air so we can put a grill out there. While the other homes are (mostly) well-maintained, few have even screened in their decks, and none have enclosed them. DH and I did this to our last house, though, and we used the outdoor room a LOT.
Right now we have the ultimate open-concept: except for the flimsy "Caution" tape we could walk right off the edge. The views are gorgeous, though!

I'm in the process of restoring an old piano that has been in our family for a long time. (It's over 100 years old.)
I also have a piece of furniture that was originally in my grandparent's house that also will need some professional restoration. Some might see it as wasted money, but they just don't make things as well as they used to...

I know it is going to cost me more than a new chair, but this chair is close to 100 years old, and solid. I just have found any fabric that I like that is not $50/yard! I've already jacked up my point to $30/yard.

For us it's the new kitchen. I'll post pictures in my thread when we get started and when it's done. Never in my life did I think I'd spend that much on remodeling one room.

I had an alleyway chair (yep, dad found it in an alley outside an old apartment house being cleared out in SF, dragged it home, sat in his garage for years, stuffed it in my trunk, slipped and fell later that day leading to his death 6 months later = emotional attachment). Turns out it was very old (100+) but the best made chair I've ever owned. Spent $70 yard on material + 400 on labor to get it reupholstered + hours of my time refinishing 4 wood legs. Still doesn't come close to $260 on a mediocre cake & so-so wine

Um, I may have ordered a pair of boots online this weekend that cost ~$200. And, I don't really feel guilty about it! But given the amount of money we've spent on DH's mouth/teeth issues this year, $200 is a pittance. So I'll be enjoying them all fall/winter/spring long. I figure if I wear them every day for 200 days, it's a dollar a day. Now, THAT, I can afford! LOL

Books, booze and cats. Not necessarily in that order. I have no problems dropping $100 at Barnes & Nobles on my day off. Booze goes without saying.
Cats. Gotta have my cats. Somehow I always wind up with the needier ones. Currently we have one with hypothroidism and a liver issue. And he doesn't even drink! Plus he has allergies so that's a treat to deal with.
The bitch twins problem is, well, they're bitches. Nothing medical as yet thankfully because I'll probably be needing transfusions trying to give them meds. The nail clipping scars are finally starting to fade.

That house would look so good on our lake property! Want!! I live every day non-YMAM extravagant. I'm an able bodied person with no kids and I don't work any more. I haven't for 15 + years and I'm not old enough to be retired. Being an outlier, especially in the 'burbs, is so fun! Especially when all the jealous people don't like it as it's my life and how I live it doesn't affect them in any way except it turns them a very ugly shade of green. Bonus!

Back in the day my ever-so-proper mother called it "the P factor", as in it pissed people off. It was sort of bonus points on the original acquisition.

Mine was a Jet Sled used for 25K plus tax. I knew ISO wouldn't fish much but living on a great fishing river without the right boat would have bugged him every single day. He fished Monday but Tuesday thought he should clean the chicken house instead. Tuesday the neighbor got a Chinook that was so dark he let it go and hooked a silver but lost it. So tomorrow I bet he thinks he should clean the chicken house instead of fishing. He wants to murder a rooster or two so that will take a full day to get them plucked and put on the rotisserie and learn to make dressing so if he cleans the chicken house Wednesday and murders roosters Thursday he will probably need to go shopping for stuffing ingredients Friday, then not fish the weekend because the working people fish weekends. So another week not catching fish but at least he has the right boat so no excuses or whining or wishing he had a boat. Maybe I will go buy stuffing ingredients and go visit him tomorrow save him a day. Strange how one little thing a day is enough when you are retired, can't like fish in the morning and clean the chicken house after fishing then murder and cook a rooster. The 20 hens are laying eggs more than 10 a day now but 5 roosters is too many.

I sent the architect's plans to the Architectural Review Board of the HOA an within 24 hours got a note thanking us for such detailed specs and saying they appreciated our investing in the house because it helped the whole neighborhood. A guy at one end of the lake violated two HOA rules by installing an above-ground pool and then putting up a fence around it (which I guess was sensible after they'd put up the pool). I think that makes them appreciate us more!
