I'm really not understanding how this works. If the executor can sell it off is it part of the trust or part of their inheritance? A will, a trust, an executor, etc, only mean something if everyone follows it. If not, then they aren't worth the paper they are written on. Of course, with a large estate everyone will sue everyone if they think they are getting screwed, but that takes time and money. Woe! Someone has to have the legal authority to sign the sale papers for the house. The same for taking money out of accounts. Not just anyone can do that.

For Jewelry, personal property, cars, etc, it is much easier. And just because someone has the legal authority to sign papers doesn't mean they are going to follow what the will/trust says.

I don't want you to get a call saying the house has been stripped by the kids/ex. I'm really not understanding how this works. If the executor can sell it off is it part of the trust or part of their inheritance? If he sells anything in the trust, the proceeds are still in the trust until distributed. He could buy stocks, bonds, CD'S gold bars, or even artwork, but he has to be doing it in good faith. Should have said he or she, as it does not have to be man taking care of the trust

Well the good thing is that zib does have her own money so she will be okay. It can be annoying but it won't really hurt her.
ETA - I mean financially okay. The grieving still takes time of course.

Anyway I'm here in Florida. Arrived tonight. Yea Halloween!! Cats are settling in and down, finally. Place is nice but very young and very different. Does not feel homey very modern and sterile. DS will love it! Close to hospital so full of young medical professionals and students. Would have been great for DH. The third bedroom that was set up as his office I asked them to change back to a bedroom but they forgot. I'll get that fixed Monday. I have friends that don't share a bedroom due to both needing sleep! Bathrooms are huge!!

I'm here. Cats weren't too awful. Poor things. The trip from hell.

So glad to know you've arrived safe and sound. You'll turn that place into home in no time flat! The cats will help. They have a knack for turning anything with a warm place to lie down into a mansion.

All three are on my bed with me. Touching me. Like I'm the life raft and they're sinking. It has to be so hard on them. Especially DH's cat. He still looks for him and cries. Breaks my heart. You can't explain to him so I probably seem like a kidnapper-catnapper.

But Florida kicked Georgia's ass!!!20-3 That they most certainly did! As far as the cat slobber goes, my mother's cat drools when she's happy - and she's happy pretty much all the time. I'm quite accustomed to cat slobber. You have my condolences.

DH's cat took about the same amount of time. They search, and call, but will forget faster than you, or I will.

It's the executors and lawyers problems now. I'm in Florida for good except for occasional visits to friends and to collect the last of my stuff once I find a place here. That chapter of my life is over. I

Stuff from the office safe that I didn't even know existed. The comptroller told them I didn't know about it but that means nothing.

The traditional 30 days of mourning are over today. This is also our 6th anniversary of getting back together.

I am glad you could pull yourself up and resettle. If you have an old shirt of your DH's for the cat, that might help.

The traditional 30 days of mourning are over today. What does that mean? You don't mourn anymore? We don't give you sympathy anymore? What exactly ends today?

The Jewish faith decrees 30 days of mourning. That 30 days ended today. I couldn't follow all the rules but I followed some. I'm not Jewish but since he wanted a Jewish funeral and I was his wife, I felt I could try to honor the customs as much as possible.
