I'm down 30k from last month. Yikes that would keep me up at night, but we are already retired. Maybe I will take a look and see where we are.

Just looked at ours for the month - we're down $31k in investments from last month. Oh well, we're 34 and 39 - we will keep on keeping on, as I know this is a blip in the long haul.
Here's hoping numbers start going up again - I like those monthly updates much better!

I'm actually scared to look until it recovers a little. The problem with being retired is that there is no more "buying stocks on sale" in a down market.

One of the biggest reasons I haven't retired yet. I have been expecting a down market, and didn't want to retire INTO it....

Mentally we knew this could happen. A down turn at the very start of our retirement. And financially we have a plan. But emotionally, it's been scary.

I opened my Roth IRA back in April and I put $11,000 on it. Basically, all my savings. As of this morning, I have $10,400 in the account. Not too bad and laughable compared to the amounts of money you guys are talking about. But that money is all I have. I'm not going to do anything. I'll wait and try not to think too much about it.

There were some real benefits to retiring in 2012 when things were still pretty bleak. We modeled on continued low earnings and therefore were pleasantly surprised when equities recovered.
Hang on and enjoy the roller coaster ride!

So I'm down but also picked up another 1 of my 4 limit orders. September / October is traditionally brutal so I'm hoping it'll go down so I at least get: CSCO ED Then I'll be good for awhile. ... hard for me to resist a sale

An MD I work with says when the smoke clears we'll be at 14-15000. We'll see if he has a magic ball....
