I'd guess it's hard to be embarrassed by your candidate on a daily basis. And particularly disillusioning when you realize you've been taken in by someone who doesn't even want to win.

"OAKTON, Va. — Jared Taylor hits play, and the first Donald Trump ad of the general election unfolds across his breakfast table. Syrian refugees streaming across a border. Hordes of immigrants, crowded onto trains. “Donald Trump’s America is secure,” rumbles a narrator. “Terrorists and dangerous criminals kept out. The border, secure; our families, safe.” Taylor, one of America’s foremost “racialists,” is impressed and relieved. “That’s a powerful appeal,” he said. “If he can just stick to that, he is in very good shape.” From his Fairfax County home, Taylor has edited the white nationalist magazine American Renaissance and organized racialist conferences under the “AmRen” banner. He said that Trump should “concentrate on his natural constituency, which is white people,” suggesting that winning 65 percent of the white vote would overwhelm any Democratic gains with minorities. When Trump made Breitbart News CEO Steve Bannon his campaign’s chief executive last week, Taylor found reasons to celebrate. It was the latest sign for white nationalists, once dismissed as fringe, that their worldview was gaining popularity and that the old Republican Party was coming to an end.‘Racial realists’ are cheered by Trump’s latest strategy

So is this guy mentally ill? Or just a garden-variety white supremacist? Or the type who is thrilled by the Trump campaign rhetoric and looking forward to being "legitimate" again?

I imagine we will be seeing even more of this over the next few months.

I imagine we will be seeing even more of this over the next few months. as soon as it becomes clear that Trump is not going to win, the frustrated racists, with their fantasy of deporting "immigrants" are going to go absolutely nuts. particularly if Trump keeps up the talk about it being a rigged election.

And he renounced his Klan membership when Hillary was still a child, and later was a big supporter of civil rights, equal rights, and the NAACP.
So, do you have anything legitimate to contribute, or just more right-wing nonsense and bull****?

"In 1946, Byrd wrote a letter to a Grand Wizard stating, "The Klan is needed today as never before, and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation."[21] However, when running for the United States House of Representatives in 1952, he announced "After about a year, I became disinterested, quit paying my dues, and dropped my membership in the organization. During the nine years that have followed, I have never been interested in the Klan." He said he had joined the Klan because he felt it offered excitement and was anti-communist.[13] In 1997, Byrd told an interviewer he would encourage young people to become involved in politics but also warned, "Be sure you avoid the Ku Klux Klan. Don't get that albatross around your neck. Once you've made that mistake, you inhibit your operations in the political arena."[22] In his last autobiography, Byrd explained that he was a KKK member because he "was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision — a jejune and immature outlook — seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions."[23] Byrd also said, in 2005, "I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times ... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened."[13]" Robert ByrdI was a one year old when Byrd renounced the KKK. I am sixty-five today. To add to Tallguy's post, Hillary Clinton was a five year old when Byrd renounced the Klan.

Wouldn't it be nice if there were some intellectual integrity present here? If someone wants to link Donald Trump to the KKK or white nationalist movement they can use both his current statements and statements from those groups aligning themselves with him. If someone wants to link Hillary Clinton to such things they have to make up a connection from nearly seventy years ago when she could not possibly have known or been aware of either the person or the group, AND to conflate her later admiration for the man he became with his embarrassment and regret at the man he was. Seems pretty tenuous to me....

An Open Letter From Mr. TrumpTo Whom It May Concern: Trump is sorry. Trump is humble. Trump is scared. Trump doesn’t want to get crushed. So if I have offended anyone, or because I have offended everyone, I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I realized too late that all the great put-downs that helped me put away the 16 dwarfs don’t translate well to the general election. I’m sorry that I’m causing the Republicans to lose control of the Senate and I’m sorry they wish I’d never been born. I’m really not that sorry to be causing trouble for Paul Ryan, who’s going to lose seats in the House. He’s a prig and I wish he had lost his primary to that tattooed guy who likes me. I’m sorry I pretended I was going to release my tax returns. Of course I didn’t pay any taxes. I have the all-time greatest real estate deductions and depreciations. I’m sorry I asked African-Americans “What do you have to lose by supporting me?” in front of a crowd of white people. I’m sorry I can never find my African-American. I’m sorry I continue lying about my wild gesticulations mocking a disabled reporter at the failing New York Times. And I’m really sorry that Hillary’s super PAC used it in an ad and made me look like an oaf. Complete article here: An Open Letter From Mr. Trump

This candidate, this summer, has engineered the most extreme polarization a polarized nation can achieve. Traditional campaign strategies of persuasion and seduction are no longer in play. No responsible grownup anywhere near his right mind would vote to give this evil, infantile, ridiculous man the most powerful job in the world. Conversely, anyone who would cast such an irresponsible vote is far beyond the reach of reason or persuasion, in any form. Never mind Trump’s politics — the worst available on nearly every important issue — because he’s a hustler who changes them at will to fit the population he’s trying to hustle.

He's going back to being a democrat. Had a meeting with Hispanic leaders where he said he wanted to create a 'humane' way to deal with illegal immigrants (no mention of THE WALL) and then did a speech trying to get blacks to support him because 'what have they got to lose.'
www.latimes.com/nation/politics/trailguide/
The problem for Trump is that so many of his hard core supporters really like the whole WALL thing, plus a segment of them (his Klan voters) are not going to like the black outreach. While he may appeal to a few more non-white voters, I think he runs the risk of losing some of his current supporters in the process. Granted, they aren't voters who would ever vote for Hillary, but the more he starts looking like a Dem, the more likely they will be not to vote at all, I think.

Nope, it's as real as real can be. If you read something from "This Is That", then it's a spoof. I think this was a practice run in case Trump wins.

Remember when the Drudge Report ran an article about Montreal dogs having to be bilingual? It was from This Is That, but they fell for it.

The GOP definitely created the monster that is now consuming them. And it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of fools.

How about a splintered Repo party where the far righties and all of their social issue concerns go one way, the normal repos go another, the centrist demos join that group, the progressive lefties form a third and they duke it out.
I'm betting we might end up with some semblance of sanity....fiscal conservatism, reluctance to nation build, less concern about what private individuals do with their bodies/life.

Hard to think "a long time poster" would only have about 20 posts or a reluctance to identify who they were then.
I guess the jokes on us.
