try to get them to declare the car totaled. You might get MORE then the dealer was offering. I had a friend total her car when she was trying to sell it and her insurance company gave her more then she was asking. Repairs usually have to be greater then 60% of the value of the car to be totaled but it sounds like it might be.

I really think you are worrying before you need to be, in my experiences the offers from insurance companies are usually spot on or close to it. I have totaled out three cars so far so I have done this a time or two I got better offers when I worked with my own insurance company then with another drivers, if you really hate what they tell you report it through yours and let the insurance companies duke it out. Don't forget to get something for pain and suffering, distress, lost work, etc etc. You should get all of this without taking them to court, make sure to see a doctor/chiropractor/get some massage you are almost always more banged up then you think and you need to have at least seen a doctor to get a clear at the minimum.

my car was drivable and still totaled, I kept the car and sold it a year latter with minimal repairs so just because you think the work will only be x don't get to excited, its almost always double what you think any way and a lost wheel is a big deal your whole front axle could need to be replaced.
