I haven't interviewed for a job in almost 10 years... and now I have an interview next week. I work for a giant law firm and will be interviewing at a slightly less giant law firm. What can I get by with wearing? I don't have a "suit" or anything like that. I open open to buying a jacket, but I feel a blazer would just be a waste. Options? Sent from my SM-G920T using proboards I think if you're interviewing at a law firm you need a suit. Sorry.

I got my last suit (3-4 years ago) from Macy's suit department. It was on sale, too. Calvin Klein also has nice suit separates (and I know how you can get a discount, too! ).

You can get reasonably priced suit pieces at JcPenny and Kohl's.

What size are you right now? 12 in pants, 14 tops Sent from my SM-G920T using proboards I probably have one for you. I mean, I have a dozen or so in the 10-14 size range, they are just in boxes. If you want to make a trip to the burbs I'm sure I have something you can borrow.

So, can I get by with pants, a colored top, and a coordinating but not "matching" jacket.

So, can I get by with pants, a colored top, and a coordinating but not "matching" jacket. Sent from my SM-G920T using proboards It depends on the firm, I would say. In some cases, if the jacket is formal enough (think like a formal tweed) that would work. In others you would get someone who is like some of the posters here who would automatically disqualify you for not wearing a skirt suit with hose and a collared shirt. That said, the posters I've seen advocating that are not people I would super want to work for, so...

Let me look around today and talk to my coworker that is currently interviewing there as well and then I'll let you know if I need your mercy! Of course, luck would have it that I have my weekend mostly booked solid.

I know they are business casual, like our firm. and I almost never see people interviewing for staff meetings in a suit. even our staff attorneys keep it a bit more casual and modern, but still a bit above business casual.

We're a business casual office but definitely put on our fancy pants (well, more conservative) dress for interviews and client meetings. A work friend has a gray Theory sheath dress and matching blazer that screams "I'm a professional" but I think the key word is matching. Macy's is having a sale this weekend!

I'd be in tears from laughing at the models trying so hard to make those clothes look fashionable.

My not quite 8 year old dd wants bunnies on her Easter dress. Girls size 10. Where do you go for kids' clothing? I spent some time on Etsy but I have concerns about sizing.
I suck at fashion and style.

SO- meeting with a recruiter, how should I dress?
Business casual, or do I need to step it up to interview style clothing?

I went with business casual but I was doing lunch between work hours. Interview attire and lab duties do not mix.
DH was required to wear interview clothing with the recruiter in his office.
I'd ask since it seems every recruiting company is different.

Not worth worrying about for today, but in the future, get the most out of your recruiter and use them as a resource not a hurdle. You want to wear to the recruiter what you think you're going to wear to any companies the recruiter sends to you so that the recruiter can check out the outfit and tell you if it would work for the company s/he has in mind. The purpose isn't to impress the recruiter, it's to get their opinion on if the outfit is professional. flattering and appropriate. Recruiters see all sorts of different outfits and all sorts of different companies, so can be a good reasonableness check to tell you what works.

He specifically mentioned that he's been working with a lot of people who haven't been on an interview in many years ... which is me. I've been with my company for 9.5 years. I haven't had an interview and have only submitted one resume in the last 9+ years.

Leggings or black tights - target or old navy Dress and blazer - banana or ann Taylor Bonus if you get pants or a skirt that matches the blazer then you have an interview suit.

I have literally never in my life bought one. I went over to the resale place on Roscoe last night and they had lots of them, a few that felt like they fit, but I couldn't tell if they were right. I never know if it fits right. I think my plan is to find a black blazer. I have several black trousers, all pretty new. I have tweed trousers that could work with a black blazer as well as some skirts and I might look for a black sheath dress. I have a billion pairs of tights and leggings. I am dreading it though, i hate shopping for any kind of jacket or coat i have no idea why. same with boots.
