I listened to the audiobook of The Tattooist, and I thought it was OK.
One I really enjoyed was "Beneath a Scarlet Sky" - now, how much of it is actually true is a question, just like with The Tattooist.

is "Tattooist" a fairly recent title? I had never heard of it til I picked up a similarly titled book last summer and someone read my FB post too fast and started talking about "Tattooist" instead.
I can definitely recommend "The Librarian of Auschwitz" as a good one. it turned into a mail it forward book for a group of us last summer, not sure where it is now.

It is very interesting and all I can say is the ego's really f* the Pacific Campaign.
Finishing Dauntless today and I went to get the 2nd book but it's not available in Audio so I will read instead.

I am reading Where'd You Go, Bernadette? My book club is a "books to movie" club. We read the book, watch the movie, and discuss. We tend to read these sorts of books in my book group too. We read Bernadette but I watched the movie on a plane after that. I thought the movie did a good job of bringing some of the book's more-difficult-to-visualize aspects to life. We read a couple of the Liane Moriarty books that went to made-for-TV. It has gotten so that the group's discussion inevitably turns to "which character will Nicole play?" which drives me crazy. I am sick of Nicole Kidman because of it. Still, I'm reading another of Moriarty's books outside the book group, What Alice Forgot. Also recently finished The Husband's Secret.

I gave up on book clubs years ago for that reason. I want to discuss books! Not talk about TV. I don't watch TV and I don't know who any actors are so I have nothing to say. I gave up. 😪

I just finished Killers of the Flower Moon. This is not fiction. It is a horrific and shameful record of the murders of Osage in Oklahoma in the early 20th century. The government played a major role in perpetuating the murders by instituting a system of guardianship over members of the Osage tribe. My DD1 passed the book along to me after she read it.

I finished The Sinner by Tess Gerritsen on vacation. I think I have the whole series just waiting. Body Double is up next.
I need to put my actual books to be read in some sort of order. They all tend to be some sort of series and I don't know which one to grab.
I did like What Alice Forgot. I read that a couple years ago.
I read two thirds of Where the Grass is Green and the Girls are Pretty by Lauren Weisberger last night at 2am when I couldn't sleep. I finished it this morning.
I also recently finished Pack Up The Moon by Kristan Higgins. I cried when I finished it.

I have been getting into the A Twisted Tales books by Disney. I just finished What Once was Mine which is the twist on Rapunzel. It's kinda like reading an episode of Once Upon a Time.
I like how it allows them to go more in depth with the characters involved. Little Mermaid gets such crap for Ariel being spoiled, which she was she is 16 and was reacting to her dad destroying all her stuff in a fit of rage! You'd react too! Part of Your World sees Ariel as an adult and reflecting back on the decision. You get a lot more character growth than you can in a 90 minute animated movie.
I've read What Once was Mine (Rapunzel), Part of Your World (Little Mermaid) and Go the Distance (Hercules). I picked up Reflection (Mulan) from the library last night.

Have more time to read lately so bought several books on kindle.
Sci-Fi: Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. First of his that I've read. Well done. Survival ship sent during the downfall of earth civilization to a world that had been terra formed with a "virus" that was supposed to accelerate the evolution process. Of course things didn't go as planned. Good read. Children of the Ruin is the next in the series.
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir (he wrote The Martian) Similar theme. Touching relationship between the protagonists (one is alien) Look for it in theaters soon.
Reading Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr About 1/3 done. Switches between 5 time frames: 1450 Constantinople, 40's/50's, 2014, now, future on generation ship. All tied together. Keeping me very interested.
Going to read Vanderbilt by Anderson Cooper next.
Have read or audiobooks for various Baldacci series. My favorite series of his is the Memory Man books.

Are these appropriate for 13 and 9? They have read another series that sounds similar but is tailored to kids. I'll have to ask them the name as we don't currently have any checked out. This sparked whole dinner conversation debates about which ones were believable and DD13 writing her own fan fiction for DD9 to read.

I would think so they are in the Young Adult section but I don't know your personal views. Al three of the ones I just read involve a lot of paganism. What Once was Mine threw in Lady Bathory who was otherwise known as the female Dracula. Mulan will deal with Chinese mythology/underworld. What Once was Mine was pretty close to being line for line the movie without the singing otherwise. The other two are about what happened after the credits rolled. The books are under Disney's license so they have to follow Disney rules. I consider them to be pretty tame.

Finished True Dead by Faith Hunter over the weekend and started re-reading the Widow Island Novellas by Kendra Elliot and am on #5 right now.
Starting Winterlight by Kristian Britain tonight. Really enjoy the Green Rider series but it does take some time between books.
Also listening to Black Hills by Nora Robert and Nick Podhel almost finished with this one.

Cloud Cuckoo Land is on its way to me, via trade for the Tattooist of Auschwitz that I need to mail out this week. I didn't love Tattooist, the quality of writing wasn't that great, IMHO. oh well. re: Baldacci - have you discovered the Will Robie series? I think it's more recent than the Memory Man ones. 1st in the series is "The Innocent"

I enjoyed it, especially how an ancient story has it's affect through the various time periods. Hope you enjoy it. I know I've listened to one or two of the Will Robie series. I should start from the beginning of the series and work through them all. Doing "Lincoln Highway" on audible. Again a good story and interesting characters. Set in the 50's, centers around brothers who have just lost their father (their mother abandoned the family years earlier) and their Nebraska farm is also being foreclosed so they are going to start a new life together elsewhere. Action takes place along the Lincoln Highway which was the first coast to coast highway running from NYC to San Fran.

Finished the last Laura Childs Tea Shop Mystery and I have to say the MC is really turning into someone who ignores any common sense and I might just have to step away from the series for a while.
Am starting 'Forget the Alamo' due to previous posters talking about it. I got through the forward this morning so we shall see.
I keep seeing new books that are coming out and and than I realize they won't be available until late next year...my library has a six month window so I am unable to even put in a request for them to be put on order. By the time these are closer to release I will have forgotten.

My to read list will never be completed in my lifetime. However it does come in handy, especially when the library gets new releases. I can scan that list and then compare it to my list.

I finished The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah. It was an excellent book but very depressing.
After that one I needed a feel-good change so I started The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan.

I am reading the Firebird Chronicles Series by T.A. White and just finished the 2nd book. So far a really good series sorta sci-fi, military and a dash of romance and suspense with a dribble of fantasy thrown together. Ordered the 3rd book from the library.
Read the latest Susan Copperfield "Runaway" and really enjoyed the book. The Royal States is such a fun and interesting series.
Finished Forget the Alamo and they had some excellent points and it is just really frustrating hearing the echo chamber narrative that is so against setting the record correct and more even handed than what is being said.
Listening to "Courageous" by Jack Campbell in the car.

I got done with Drew Barrymores cookbook. The title is Rebel Homemaker.
I would love to meet her. She's always struck me as very nice and a cool person. However in this book.I found out she has an entire room full of cookbooks. I don't have the space or money for that but I share the same level of enthusiasm.
That's not something I encounter everyday.
Then I have a biography of Anthony Bourdain to read. I was very sad when he died we need more people with his world view.
Wish I could have met him and shared my love of Southeast Asia. I 100% agreed when he said you go then spend the rest of your life wanting to return. I left a piece of my soul in Borneo.
