Finished 3 books this week thanks to jetlag and different bed times-
Firefly Lane #1 - Kristin Hannah Olive Kitteridge - Elizabeth Strout The Water Dancer - Ta-Nehisi Coates
Will totally recommend all 3.

For any of you who have both Amazon Prime reading & Kindle Unlimited, they are basically combined now. All Prime books are KU books, so they will count against your total allowed. They used to be separate things so when I tried to get a Prime book the other day and it took me to KU and told me to return something, I was confused. I asked Amazon, that was their explanation. So, basically the Prime reading perk is not one at all if you also are a KU subscriber. I only Prime reading now and then so I just caught on. IDK if it would be useful information for any of you guys but wanted to share. So if we have Amazon Prime but don’t have KU, we get access to all the KU books?

I’ve recently read The Power of Lift: How Empowering Women Changed the World by Melinda Gates - I enjoyed it, and would recommend it.
I also just finished The Dream Too Big: The Story of an Improbable Journey from Compton to Oxford.l by Caylin Louis Moore. I’d you like autobiographical works and feel-good stories, I highly recommend this one. His determination, hard work, and never-ending hope make for a great Story.

Of course not, that would be too useful. You would just get the Prime books but they are all now KU books at the same time. So your checkout limit, which really should be 10 from each subscription, would be 10 total if you had both, instead of 20. (The limit should be 10 for each)

I haven't contributed to this thread up to now because I didn't read as much as I used to- and then I bought a Nook reader. Wow. What I hadn't realized was that even though my eyes are OK, I get them checked regularly and my glasses have current prescription lenses, I'm 67 and I was getting eye fatigue if I read for more than half an hour or so if the print was too small or the light was too dim. I am now roaring through a book a week, all free from the public library. I'm looking forward to trying some of the ones recommended here. Just finished "Radium Girls" by Kate Moore. Early in the 20th century, young women were hired to paint the numbers on watch and clock dials using radium-based paint. They kept the brush ends pointed neatly by putting them in their mouths. Hundreds of times every day. It tracks their lives, from the beginning when they were considered glamorous because they were well-paid and well-dressed, through their development of mysterious symptoms (teeth falling out, losing pieces of jawbone, hip and knee problems) in their early 20s. It took a long time to connect the symptoms with radium poisoning and even longer for them to find attorneys willing to take their cases and get justice. Many died before that happened and some continued the court fight even though they were in constant pain and had to be carried in and out of the courthouse. Their cases resulted in huge changes in occupational safety laws and very strict regulations for workers on the Manhattan Project to prevent the same horrible illnesses. I just wrote a book report!

Another trip this week meant I got in some uninterrupted reading time on flights...and unfortunately, it was wasted on two of the worst (to me) books I’ve read in a long time. So on that note, I read and would not recommend:
Let’s Pretend this Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir by Jenny Lawson
You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero

Huh, I like Jenny Larson and enjoyed her book. Haven't read the 2nd one yet.

Finished Killing Kennedy, enjoyed it, but not as much as Killing Lincoln. Learned new things though, like the Kennedys had a baby boy born in August 1963 that passed away two days after birth.
I'm reading The Friend Zone now. Pretty light romantic fluff but with some difficult content (infertility) that might be a trigger to some.

I'm only rereading feel good, I know how it ends, no suspense books that make me happy at the moment.

I have several feel-good books for the same reason. My favorite is Anne of Green Gables.

I just finished The Bookish Life of Nina Hill, which I enjoyed.
I have really been slacking on my reading during this quarantine. After dealing with work and kids all day long, at night, I usually just veg out in front of the TV. I've caught up on all my shows though, including the entire season of The Good Doctor. So, at least something is getting done!

I read that trilogy last year. Weird but interesting is an excellent description of it! Overall I liked it--I think.

I just finished Small Fry by Lisa Brennan-Jobs, and really enjoyed it. Spoiler - Steve Jobs was a class A jerk and father, but as that’s public knowledge, it shouldn’t be too much of a spoiler.

Proud mama moment - my 7 yo started reading in her head this week! She also finished one of the babysitter's club books in graphic novel form. She read all the way thru lunch today while everyone else was busy with work and school. Now, she's begging to read in the bathtub like her sister and I do. I said she could try a magazine first and if it stays dry then I can yes to a book LOL.

I just finished The Moment of Lift. It was good. A lot of interesting information on how different organizations work to bring about social change.
Now I have to decide if I want to finish the last book of the Lightbringer series or reread The Court of Thorns and Roses for my fantasy book club. The first book is really awful but it's been awhile since I read it and if I don't read it again I might mix up books and spoil things for others.

Finished Oona out of order I really enjoyed it.
Completed Aru Shah and the Tree of Wishes last night. This so far is my favorite out of the Rick Riordan presents books. The 4th book comes out next September.
Now I am reading The Sun Down Motel. I got intrigued after seeing it in a B&N email I got and decided to download it onto my NOOK app.

I started reading Spillover on my kindle. I think it was DQ or mich maybe who mentioned it here. It's been on my list forever. Strangely I have found now when I recommend a book to my library, they buy it. That never happened before. I'm 2 for 2 so far.
It's scary how relevant it is to today. I think I'm going to buy an actual copy. Some things I just want an actual book for. I'm fine using the kindle for most stuff.
I organized my book shelf in my bedroom so I can see what I have. Of course there's a whole box in the basement from my move into DH's house.

Just finished - The Book of Lost Friends by Lisa Wingate. It's a good one.
Also finished The Body by Bill Bryson. It was very illuminating especially right now. I think I got that recommendation from here.

I've been reading a serial novella online at Boston.com, the website for the Boston Globe. they commissioned Ben Mezrich, the author of the card-counting scandal book "21" for this series. chapters are being published daily over the course of two weeks, I'm in the middle of chapter 16 now. the story starts out with a young female card counter almost getting busted at Encore, the new shiny Wynn casino just outside of town. by chapter 2, there was already murder, grand theft, and a feeling that things were going to deep dive into Boston history.....and it hasn't disappointed. The Mechanic

This week, I finished
Big Little Lies - Liane Moriarty - I thought it was decent, but I found it very difficult to get into at first. Not sure it is worthy of a bunch of hype. The Overdue Life of Amy Byler - Kelly Harms - Also good, enjoyed it more than Big Little Lies, could relate to needing a "momspringa"
I am listening to Becoming by Michelle Obama.

yeah, I'm expecting it to be. I'm only 5 chapters in, and the main character has already met Mengele. 😳

I think someone started a new reading thread? But I can't find it?
I finished As Time Goes By by Mary Higgins Clark, Met her Match by Jude Deveraux and Love Walked In by Marisa de los santos. These qualified under my 'reading books that are on my selves that I haven't read yet' and also my current, nothing heavy mindset. All of them are leaving the house, so if anyone wants one let me know and I'll send it.
I also read Luster by Raven Leilani, which satisfied one of my 'diverse fiction reads' goal. It wasn't necessarily a pleasant read, but interesting I guess. I keep thinking about a few parts. Again, if you want it let me know. If not I'll community aide all of them.
