I need to buy a baby monitor for my DH bedroom so that if he falls again I will be able to hear him. I want a good and reliable brand, and I don't want to go for the cheapest, I want the best I can find.

Thanks T...but I don't need the webcam I don't think. The previous time he fell was in the bathroom, I need something that will just pick up a call for help if I'm in the other room from where he is.

We bought a Motorolla audio monitor for the same purpose. It has a 990 foot range and is interference free. It works great.
I know you said you weren't looking for the cheapest one. I'll give you the price, anyway. Ours was $59.99 at Bed, Bath, and Beyond (or maybe its baby store sister). We used a 20% coupon.

We had Angel Care. You could hear if the kid passed gas. Also had a long range.

What about life alert for if you're not there as well? We used it for my grandma since she used to fall and was incapable of getting up. Well worth the peace of mind.

Normally we aren't apart, but I believe that Life Alert would fall in the same category as a walker, wheelchair or anything else that he sees as his pride and ego being hurt. Everything this AM when the paramedics was here was answered with the word NO...except he would let them help him get dressed, but I had to take him to the ER, he wouldn't go with them.
He's been fairly quiet since we came home and I triple dog dared him to get out of his recliner while I took off for Walmart, I don't think he got up. I just put on his new grippy bottom socks...didn't even ask him, I just did it.
Going to fix him chicken and dumplings for dinner, that should improve his outlook somewhat.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I just know that DH is going to love having a baby monitor in his bedroom.....not! He might see it as more dignified than the Life Alert necklace. My mom hated that thing with a passion, but it was 100% admission of 'being old' and 'needing help' that she was really mad at. She got rid of it as soon as she could PLUS fired the care-helper I hired for her to give her assistance when I could not be there. Grrrrr. Getting old in body, when you are not old in mind must be tremendously difficult. Wishing you the best in caring for your DH and I hope he makes a good recovery so he can feel whole again!

He got his chicken & dumplings and he finally got a shower to wash the blood out of his hair, so he's in his favorite chair either watching TV or taking a before bedtime nap.
Thanks everyone for your kindness and information.

My husband has been cool with the monitor. Maybe that is because it is proactive (instead of reactive) in our case. He even uses it to call me from another room although I can't answer.
Most of you guys are young, but intercoms were a favorite feature in 1970s houses.
