As machine usage has grown to do more and more jobs that people used to do, is there a danger in becoming so reliant upon machines that eventually all jobs will be related to upkeep of these machines, along with their software? Thoughts?

I for one, am pretty happy that I can take my clothes and place them in a clothes washer, rather than having to do them manually on one of those ribbed wash boards, that many of us recall our mothers/grandma's using 45 years ago.

"You see it now, women don't even know how to sew on a button." I didn't know having a vagina was a prerequisite for sewing skills.

Oh good grief, all this PC stuff is nuts, but here goes, men and women don't even know how to sew on a button anymore. Does that help, did anyone learn how to sew on the button by restating that?Swamp has had a bug up her rear end lately...very testy, combative, argumentive, etc.

I already know how to sew on a button, as does my husband, but thanks for your concern. And why is it overly PC to wonder why you think that it's only women who should know how to sew?

I know I rely on my computer too much...it wasn't that long ago (1992-1993?) where I never even owned a computer prior to that. I still wonder what the heck I did all day We got our first family computer when I was 14 or 15...and I didn't get my own computer until I was probably 18. I faintly remember reading comic books and playing console video games - and then I was working part time in high school. But I had to have been doing more than that considering how much time I spend on a computer these days - but I can't remember!

I am much more concerned about circuit board dependent. When a toilet at the facility I manage isn't functioning, it is $125 to get a new curcuit board to get it to flush. Remember when all it cost you was a cold hand to reach into the tank and reattach the chain?
