Congrats Mod & Ty! The way the day started it looked like I might hit the bottom, but it slowed down in the afternoon.
Ty, it really is a guessing game for me. I garden a lot and don't have time nor the inclination to do all the studying of all the facets of the market. I used to belong to an old women's investment club....that was enough studying for me! We disbanded long ago but we also made a good profit when the funds were disbursed.

kadee, if that's the case, you are one heck of a great guesser. You have a knack for being correct most of the time, or so it seems. Honestly, I do not spend a great deal of time, just check some sites for ideas and do some light research. No big digging unlike D.I., do not have to do this for a living. Just a pastime to have something to do in my last years.

Ty, no I didn't know about that and doubt if it would have made a whole lot of sense to me anyway.
This is what I do.... First I look for a stock that is low in price for the game because you have a bigger chance of going way up or way down. Then I look at the 52 week spread. If the current price is very close to either one of those...it goes on my "maybe" list (VERY short list) Then I look at debt, if it seems to be way unreasonable...that's a no. Then I look at the graph of the stock for the past month and for the past year and determine which way it is trending. If there is no trend up or down, it goes on a "possible" list...and these lists are in my head unless I'm playing with a new to me stock.
I don't do any research at all. As I have said in the past, I do pay attention to what is going on around me. Like what are the farmers doing?, how will that effect different aspects of the market?....there was a couple of articles last week that will have some effects....pork producers are getting over the die off of piglets due to a spreading disease, so there should be a lot more pork in the market chain before too long. A third chicken farm has had bird flu discovered...uhoh....this will effect that market sooner or later at both ends (supply/consumer). If consumers get scared enough chickens won't be selling and there will be a glut...which will effect what?
Just look at what is happening with the oil industry. I'm not talking about the price of oil, but what the results of that is doing to whole communities. If we have higher unemployment, that means fewer sales in all areas of consumer goods and if the GOP continue to cut "entitlement" programs....who is going to buy what goods are available?
An I making any sense? I just try to be aware of what is happening not only in rural areas but also politics and how it will effect everyone which will in turn effect all the markets. So my choices are just guesses...from a tiny bit of looking at a company and from what I see happening all around me.

It's all guess work when it comes to a week. Still, nice pick, congrats.
