LOL, Tennesseer - no doubt my fur-baby will be pawing my head at some ungodly hour tomorrow morning.
It takes me a while to adjust to the time-change - and then before you know it, it's time to Fall back.

I'm not springing forward until the snow goes away. What good is the extra hour of sunlight at the end of the day when the garden which needs prepping is covered in snow!

Someone set off fireworks here about 3 hours ago, down two houses and across the street. We had about a cm of snow fall today, so I have no clue what the fireworks was for.

I'm just glad the clocks at my house will be correct for a few months. I never updated them after the last time change. I find it's so much fun to start your day by doing math and trying to remember if you need to add an hour to the time on the alarm clock, subtract an hour, or if the time is actually correct...or just get up and go to work regardless of what time it is. Maybe that's one of the reasons I hate morning so much!

It's supposedly so the farmers have more daylight later in the day to tend crops - but if you're a cattle rancher or dairy farmer, the cows still need to be fed & milked at the same time - regardless of what the clock reads.
This is one of a rancher's biggest nightmares.
It's also supposedly done reduce energy consumption - not needing to have lights on during peak energy hours - like when prepping dinner or watching prime-time TV.
It really doesn't make that much difference, because the daylight hours aren't really all that long until mid to late June through the end of August when you use less artificial lighting.
It makes no difference how much energy is consumed - it would be the same if clocks remained on standard time.

I knew what you meant which is why I put the and only discussed the church part - which is ALSO wrong. Which I would have gone to if that hour wasn't lost!

I really do feel like I got robbed an hour of sleep today. It feels like the whole day so far has been about beating the clock , I'm tired already, and it's way to early to be tired. I will like it better next wkend.

Only the government could convince people that taking an hour out of the morning and adding it to the evening "saves" daylight.
Here's a thought... pick a city (how about Greenwich, England {the source of "Greenwich Mean Time"... that all out clocks are based on) and call "Noon" the time that the sun is highest in the sky there... and adjust all time zones accordingly... and then LEAVE THEM THE HELL ALONE!!!!!!
Wouldn't that be simpler?

From FB - An Indian saying. Only a white man will think cutting part off the top of the blanket then sewing it onto the bottom of the blanket will make the blanket longer.
I am trying to ignore the time and hope to adjust quicker. I was up at 6:11 a.m. DST. I do feel sluggish. The nap was short and not restful.

The time change is supposedly to save on electricity/energy/power - people will be preparing meals and watching TV at peak energy usage hours (between 5 and 10 pm in the summer) and not need to have lights on as well.
I do think that the extension of DST is pointless though. It used to be from April 30 to the end of Sep - 5 mos total - then it was extended to the end of Oct. Now it's the 1st week of Mar to the 1st wk of Nov - that's 8 mos or 3/4 of the year. What's the point? Now that we're forward, just leave it there.

I love daylight savings time and was thrilled they extended the season. On Saturday, the sun rose at 6:15 and set at 6:15. I much prefer a 7:15 sunrise to 7:15 sunset and have that hour of daylight back in the evening. Regardless, by May the sun will be up by 6:15 again and the longest day of the year, it rises at 5:45 and sets at 8:45. I would HATE it if the sun rose at 4:45. It's bad enough having to listen to the birds that early. On the other hand, in the dead of winter, there is less than 10 hours of daylight, so not much you can do about getting to see any of it during a normal work-week. I think shifting the time an hour makes a lot of sense because you can't have the kids out waiting in the pitch dark for the bus, which is exactly what would happen if daylight savings was year round. I set the clocks Saturday morning and split the difference at bed time. The kids and I had no trouble adapting and they went to bed right on time tonight.
