Well, if we are going to include EX's I met my EX while in college. I dated a few of his friends.. Lasted 18 yrs till I pulled the plug The only other relationship that I would call an SO - well I picked him up in a bar. Everyone else inbetween were just fly bys. Things went well for about 7 yrs and then he started mentioning the M word.

Technically DH and I met online before the internet on a local BBS run by a female friend of mine (a very rare unicorn back then). I had the same handle I do here so DH though I was a dude. We had several nice conversations etc... My friend threw parties for the board members frequently and I went to one to meet/date another guy who knew me online a little better (as in he knew I was a chick). No chemistry there but then DH showed up and asked me to play golf - in the middle of February - in Chicago. One raised eyebrow later he takes me over to a little putting setup and we bet on the looser buying the winner drinks. I got to check out his cute ass while he tried heroically to play as bad as he could. Nope, not happening - I absolutely suck at golf and lost but he still ended up buying me a drink. The rest is history.

DH and I met in college. We were in Biology 102 together. He was looking for a rebound and thought I was "hot". I had just decided I wasn't dating anymore for awhile but he offered to take me to a movie I really wanted to see and I was broke so I figured why not.
Neither one of has had any intention of this becoming a long term thing, but here we are.

At the wedding of some mutual friends. We all went to the same university, and DH and I actually knew who each other was, but we ran in separate social circles. We met up "formally" at the wedding. That was 32 years ago - And we've been married for 31 of them. When we see our friends (a few times a year, they are still together too) we always "blame" them for us!

I was her parole officer.
OK, in reality her friend was dating my boss and they came by to see him at work and we talked a little, one thing lead to another and we've been married 21 years. So what you really mean is, you hit on her - and got her number.
Nice to hear the romance has lasted.

Well, that's sort of how DH and I ended up together, so it was the first thing that came to mind.

Do I have to tell?
Ours was a romance straight out of the movie "Grease".

We were both members of a singles group named Seattle Singles, I was assertive that way. We both attended a wine and cheese party for members over 35 at the home of someone we didn't know. On my way in I saw his truck with bumper stickers so when I went in I asked who's truck it was. One of the bumper stickers said "I would rather be fishing" I had broken a fishing rod and was shopping for a new one but didn't know how to tell a good one so asked him. Then I talked to him until I said I had to go home I had work in the morning and he said he did too so we both left at the same time. We got as far as his truck when he had to go back for his coat but I waited by his truck for him to come back. I asked him for his phone number and the next day I called him to invite him and his dog to my house for brunch, his dog was in his truck. A few days later he brought me flowers and a birthday cake to my job. He worked swing so he would come take me to lunch pretty often then. Also when he would come to my house he would sometime leave his dog since I had a fenced yard and it was too hot to leave it in the truck so he had to come back at midnight to get his dog. Soon he moved his tv to my house since I didn't have one and he was spending more time at my house than his house. We started fishing together and I bought a boat, he bought a motor so we needed to stay together since I didn't have a motor and can't back up a boat trailer.

We met at a church talent show Our little brothers were in it & we showed up to watch them, but spent more time looking across the aisle to figure out who was sitting with M's family/T's family Our little brothers were friends and got DH my number that night so he started texting me. First date two days later and someone asked how long we had been married. We both knew it then, but about two weeks later we were talking about it & knew that this was it - we would get married eventually. And we did. My mom & dad met at a grocery store. Dad worked as a stock boy with my mom's brother. He was filling the milk cooler when mom stopped in to pick up some milk. She leaned over to get milk out of the case as he was hiding back there checking out the girls leaning in for milk Guess he decided he liked that one enough to follow her out of the store and ask her on a date. Made her so nervous she dropped the milk in the parking lot & broke it. He bought her another gallon of milk and in return got her number

Love your parents' story, Sam! Mine met at a full-service filling station my dad worked at when my mom stopped to get gasoline. He got her number, and they started dating. My dad is actually persistent because he had to ask my mom to marry him 3 times before she said yes - I think it was 10 years after they first met before they got married. My mom was in town for some training before she became a minister (Salvation Army officer), so she left to go do that during that time. She said she called my dad for whatever reason around the time his mom was really sick and dying (she didn't know that when she decided to call as she lived several states away), and they got married less than a year later. I tease her that she just wanted to make sure she didn't have a mother in law. . They were married 31 years before my dad passed away, so it worked out okay for them.

C and I met in 1996 or 1997. We were both in our early 20s. We met while playing pretend - as in we played in the same LARP (live action role-playing game) in which we were all vampires. I actually dated a few of his friends before he and I started dating January 2000 (makes it so easy to remember how long we've been together). One of those friends was the best man at our wedding Labor Day 2003.
And for the record, we both still play pretend, though me not as much, and generally only table top games at this point.

DH and I met in 7th grade. He asked me out at the end of 8th grade, I broke up with him in 10th, we dated again briefly in 11th, I broke up with him again, and we finally got back together about two weeks before I graduated college (he got married and divorced somewhere in there too). We will celebrate 9 years together in May, although if you add together all the off-and-on it's probably more like 12 years. It's weird to think that we have known each other's siblings (who are now all in their early/mid-twenties) since before they started kindergarten... For Christmas my mom gave us a picture of us from 8th grade she found in a box of old stuff... if I had it here at the office I'd post it, we were pretty adorable. ETA - I don't know if it's a function of growing up in a small town, or lack of imagination, or what -- but just in our families, we have at least 6 married/engaged couples who started dating in junior high. (DH and me, my sister/BIL, my cousin and her husband, DH's sister/BIL, DH's other sister/futureSIL, and MIL/FIL).

We met while both working at a summer camp during high school. We didn't actually start dating until nearly four years later when we ran into each other at college.

My wife and I met in college. I was friends with her roommate, I was on the rebound one day and her roommate suggested we get together. We watched "my Blue Heaven" on our first date, stupid move, great date. Been married 22 years so far.

I was born with my right hand. Should I understand that you were born with two right hands, just the right hand or with an extra right hand? I just wanna make sure I got it right!

My DH and I met playing slowpitch softball. Some aquaintances of ours suggested we go out on a date. So we went out a few times not expecting anything to come of it. We have been married over 7 years and together 10. We now have a little rugrat that runs us ragged.

We met at the summer job I had between my sophomore and junior years in college. He was sort of my supervisor, and we worked together for 8-10 hours/day. He's never admitted to hitting on or dating any of the other summer help girls before me, but he probably did. I just stuck around. I didn't want to date anyone then. I worked that summer job to save up because I was studying abroad in London that fall. My plan had always been to study there, finish college, then move to London and marry some nice British guy. DH ruined my plans! In July, we'll have been together for 10 years, married for 6 in October.
