this year I just noticed MOST of the shows I watch are (1) DRAMA (2) action + Drama

this is I guess why I am such a drama King! just bat shit nuts!

The Last Ship is to me a Drama + Action show.

I laugh at the Wolf fighting scenes because it is soooo over the top!

don't get me wrong - the action scenes are good.

I do think it was you that got me to watch the show in the first place from the beginning

I have no idea what the ratings are but the fact that they got renewed already and I am constantly seeing post on FB that this is the best show on TV right now is a good sign.
And BTW I totally agree with this being the best show on TV right now!

I was really upset by the season ender!! Yes it was good but killing off my favorite character was not!!!

After waiting all season for Tex to return he finally does in the 10th episode and then kill him off in the finale. So wrong!

Oh and BTW I read this past week not only have they been renewed for season 4 but for season 5 as well!!!
Apparently they will shoot both seasons back to back next year.

Request to put Last Ship On Hold

Production on TNT’s “The Last Ship” has been temporarily shut down at the request of star Eric Dane, who suffers from depression, Variety has learned.

The series, which is set to debut its fourth season this summer, is going on a production hiatus through Memorial Day, sources say.

LOL I knew that. For whatever reason they decided to shoot seasons 4 and 5 back to back. I knew 4 was done and it wouldn't affect the June premier. I still haven't seen a date though.

Well I am a bit let down with the 1st two episodes of the season, especially after making us wait an extra 2 months. I sure hope it gets better.

I will never get over them killing off Tex but I still love the show.
It feels like TNT has cut the budget for this show severely. I think that season 5 that they are currently shooting will probably be the last.

I hate the Chandler Greece fight club storyline. So ridiculous!

They are also taking a bit of liberty with Tex's daughter Kathleen being old enough to serve. When she first appeared at the end of season 2 he said she was 14. We just started season 4 so even with the 16 month jump ahead she would still be at most 16/17.

I am also disappointed that they wrote Lamonica Garrett (Cam Burk) out. I do understand why they probably had to. He probably didn't have the time to do both shows since Designated Survivor is a hit and they shoot a lot more episodes. I am just glad they didn't kill him off and he can always do guest appearances.

And PLEASE somebody get the men a razor and some shaving cream!! Especially Danny Green! If his beard is real it looks terrible.

LOL! 2 episode season finale is this Sunday!! Not as good as previous seasons but I believe it is because TNT is going to cancel it. They have filmed season 5 but I do think it will be the last one. Such a shame! I am really pissed at TNT!!

I have the last two shows {2 hours} saved on my DVR. I feel a bit weird? because I know the next season has been put on hold. so next season is approved to make. but it is not in production. it is not in production because of a main character. (2) now that the thought of the show might be canceled. there really is no point in watching these last two episodes. (3) plenty of times. a show will go on without a main character. like the show Mistresses! so this show the Last Ship can make it's next season without the main character. (4) I will admit. even for my reasons for watching this show. keeping me interested. this season is the best! if canceled; it will be missed

Actually they just finished shooting the next season and it will air next summer. So go ahead and watch! The last 2 episodes are really good! Best of the whole season.

The book was so much better than the TV series. The series was nothing like the book.  Entirely different story.  The only thing the two had in common was a boat and a story title.

Yes they filmed season 4 and 5 back to back last year so that is why I said I knew it was coming. I think they did too and probably filmed season 5 as the series finale. We will see this summer but that is what I think they did. It was obvious from season 4 that TNT was getting ready to pull the plug. The storyline and production value was a vast downgrade from the 1st three seasons.
I will miss this show very much. It has been my favorite since it started. But I have them all on DVD so I can watch it as often as I want to.

I am not holding my breath. It would be great it another network picked it up. But I think all the main actors have moved on to new projects at this point. They knew it was coming when they filmed both seasons at the same time.
Still no premier date for the final season.
