A while back my son called me to ask how to cook Artichokes. I burst out laughing and he says "are you laughing at me for buying and wanting to cook artichokes? Me: No, I'm laughing because you think I know how. He is a much better cook that I was and learned early when I moved him out and made him get his own place Bad mom here.....

My children are ages 13 & 17. They each are responsible for making dinner for the family once per week. We've done that for over a year. Before that, they often helped make dinner. My husband makes a full breakfast for everyone every morning unless we ask him not to--for example this morning I told him I was just going to have cereal.

I have a 2-1/2 year old, so I cook most of his meals. He eats breakfast and lunch at daycare on weekdays, though he also usually has yogurt before daycare. He does love to help me in the kitchen, so I'll let him add ingredients I measure to mixing bowls or pans or whatever, and help stir stuff.
