Wow.
From the article: Incidents of industrial violence are common in India, where workers often target executives in cases of wage disputes and job losses.
I'm not entirely surprised. I have been watching quite a few Bollywood films and I can see how the culture might support this.

...despite recognizing that the disgruntled appear in any culture, it still gives me the shivers... Definitely. Makes me wonder what will happen when many outsourced jobs have to shrink due to market conditions. The article did mention an incident with an Italian company.

Alas, an impromptu barbecue. Note, do not accept any invitations to relocate to India as plant manager!

<<< In Sun Tzu's "Art of War" he warns against engaging an enemy "on deadly ground." This is a territory from which escape is impossible. Under such circumstances the choices are stark": "Win or die." The person who already has nothing is a very dangerous person. If he is going to die, you will too. >>> ...and Sun Tzu would say that staking territory beyond your borders, and then killing "them" over it, is not the same as protecting your own turf to the death... so let's call this what it really is, shall we?

<<< Although I certainly don't condone murder, why was his life so much more precious than theirs? >>> ...and you lose me here... his life is not more precious... but they thought their lives were... so no justification for murder can be found in this matter... see the difference? ...and you are absolutely right to say I should not put words into others' mouths... but tactics are developed upon tacit information... and, imo, Sun Tzu would certainly have distinguished between the offense and the defense in this matter... these disgruntled employees attacked their former employer as a retribution for the unearned wages he had yet to pay... an inappropriate offensive move that is akin to the annexation of territory... and yes, that is my opinion...

You knew that some sick person here would be in favor of such violence. I'm tired of people dumping on bankers instead of the socialists and its puppets in the government who strong armed them into making those bad loans. The level of ignorance here is just astounding.

Desperate people do desperate things. I suppose that since the workers felt that the executive sent them and their families into the streets to die, they could at least return the favor. Makes you feel a lot better about paying people unemployment, disability and welfare, doesn't it? Evil is still evil, especially burning someone to death. Those rioters should be rounded up and executed in the same manner. It doesn't make me feel better about paying all that socialist crap that just breeds more dependency. It does make me feel good that I invest in firearms and train with them.

Please don't put words into another's mouth to make a point. "The Art of War" says nothing about morality or the aims of war, it is a guide to strategy and tactics. What is missing here is an understanding of how the stakes are different in America vs. India. In America, feel free to "get shitfaced." After all, you are guaranteed several weeks of unemployment at half-pay. Then too, there is welfare if you are really in straits. And, with the higher wages you have earned, you truly are a fool if you haven't put at least a few weeks wages away. See yourself in a country where people live on pennies a day. That custom, women throwing themselves or being thrown on their husband's burning graves is a real custom and partially derives from the hard lives of the people. No social security benefits there. When that executive canned those people, it was tantamount to putting a death sentence on them. Is it any wonder they did not take it well? Although I certainly don't condone murder, why was his life so much more precious than theirs? Get over yourself! Closing a plant is the same thing as burning someone to death? This is why the left is to be feared and monitored- they lack any sense of morality as evidenced with their support of violence and willingness to steal the fruits of one's labors. Communist Russia killed more people than Nazi Germany, Communist China killed 10's of millions of its own people, and Communist Cambodia slaughtered 1/5 of their own people, And here we see the same sentiment reflected in people like ToughTimes.

I am just wondering if we didn't have a left or a right would we still have 2 lunacies or just 1?

Notice, I did not endorse the murder nor make jokes about setting fire to our bankers. So far as what "ought to happen to those murderers" well, I take it for granted that they will be executed or face long sentences in savage conditions. And so what? Look how terrible life is in India. When people are subsisting on a few grains of rice a day and living in mud, what will you threaten them with? Will you kill them twice? Not one of you commented on the custom of women being thrown or throwing themselves on their husband's burning graves. That doesn't tell you something right there? India is a caste society and those steelworkers were fated to be steelworkers from the day they were born, just as the executive came from a high-caste and his success was taken for granted. They don't play in societies like that. It ain't America and never will be. That was a possessed post, did you write it or the demon? post#666

" Remain tired and keep to your version of truth. Who knew the government invented CDOs and CDS to keep the wealth pouring in. India is a harsh place. I remembered last night that in one of the films I watched the dad tried to burn the son's intended alive in their car because she was a lower caste and not pure Hindu.

[quote author=ratchets board=politics thread=4330 post=170268 time=1299321699 Sounds a bit like extortion to me.
FUND OUR WELFARE OR WE WILL BURN YOU IN THE STREETS LIKE THEY DO IN INDIA!!
Sorry, it sucks losing a job, but it doesn't give you the right to kill people who still have a job.[/quote]
It's not extortion- it is what happens when you push people too far. Man's law yields to the law of nature in extreme circumstances. Think French Revolution- it can happen anywhere there are a few uncaring wealthy people and a whole lot of poor people out of options. If this country stays on the path it is on you can bet things are going to get interesting- our poor people are armed. You might be surprised at what you might do if you or your family was starving and had no charity or shelters. That's why we have the safety net- to keep things from boiling over.
