Ugh, moisture and water is the enemy for most black women with relaxed hair. Choosing to exercise and get sweaty regularly means your hair is going to be a big problem unless you get braids or wear a ponytail all the time. Ponytails are not a good look for me and I don't want braids. I do NOT like the hair hassle part of riding my bike. That is all.
OAN, I'm already plotting on what kind of bike I want next lol. I'm not so afraid to go fast anymore and now I get a little jealous when I see somebody on a road bike. If I'm still riding next summer, maybe I'll plan to have one before the next summer lol. Getting an even more expensive to me bike is an indulgence I'll have to earn by continuing to ride and getting the engine together (my skills and endurance) so I don't waste my money.
I still like my bike and I've been trying to find some easy dirt trails since that's closer to what it's made for. There are some dirt trails at the creepy place, but they're narrow and even more closed in, so even creepier than the paved trails. I ended up on one by accident (the entrance was paved) and I spun around and hightailed it out of there so fast you would've thought I was a real rider or I'd seen a bear for real. My friend was ahead of me and apparently didn't realize how serious I was when I yelled "hellll naw! I'm going back!" I didn't stop and wait for him until I got back to the main trail.
Who knows, I might start on dirt trails and like it enough to be even happier with my little mountain bike.

I am down another 2.4 pounds to 177.2. I could not believe I registered a loss at all after yesterday's pound down, much less a huge one! Plus today I woke up feeling like I could do without coffee so I didn't have any. I'm feeling really energetic, and the weather is nice and sunny but not too hot.

Week 19. I stayed the same weight!!!! This is a thrill because I have been binge eating for 6 straight days. My youngest had his birthday party on Saturday and between the stress of preparing for it last week and having people staying at my house combined with a fridge full of things like cheesecake, caramel bars, cookies, cake, and tons of other stuff that people brought I have totally lost it in the eating department. I've been doing a lot of pizzas for dinner since I was so busy with yard/housework and some days I wake up and have 4 or 5 caramel bars...with my breakfast. Jeez. I can't have this crap around. But, I'm the same!!!! The same!! Time to crawl back on the wagon and start eating healthier again (I can say that because about the only thing left now is turkey!)

Darn, went up this week. I know it's because I was off my routine. I'm definitely a person that needs a routine! Doing better today, and I'm going to the gym after work do some weights. Then packing for our trip. My hope for a fun active weekend has diminished a bit since there is a 60% chance of rain!!! I'm sure we will still get out though. I'm looking forward to catching up with my cousins-in-law!

Having a routine is key for me. I literally schedule my workouts into my day. I found that my life works better if my routine is to work out in the mornings. That way, life can't get in my way so easily. Plus, once my alarm goes off, I'm up. I don't snooze well, so if I'm up, then I'm all like "well, I may as well make good use of being up so early and get a work out in." Some mornings all I do is walk on a treadmill but I'm moving. And when I get off my routine, I get cranky. LOL

Pink Cashmere the hair for me is a problem too even though I'm not black. I've been putting off mowing at the rental because I sweat my hair down and have to come home and wash and set it. I'm wearing it longer then I did. Before it was a wash and dry kind of cut but I didn't really like it. This is better but a lot more trouble. I don't have hair long enough to wear a pony tail as I just had it layered and cut a bit which it needed so now I can't. So someone else with hair issues. LOL
I just read an article that eating less was way more effective then exercise, of course exercise helps the body but they said it doesn't help you lose that much that you have to exercise a LOT to do much. it isn't about eating LESS so much as eating WELL. Macronutrients are EXTREMELY important and make a huge difference for most people. sodium is also a huge factor

The excercise will help your fitness and health factor exponentially more than losing 5 pounds. It improves mood, stamina among other things. I would focus more on being healthy and active and less on just a few pounds.

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't stress out about gaining a few pounds. I might be part camel, but I can easily have fluctuations of +/- 5 pounds due to water retention and other factors. More during that time of the month. I only count pounds lost as being consistently below that threshold. As of today I've "lost" 20 pounds, but I only really count it as 10 due to the fluctuations that occur during the month.

I ate some packaged foods yesterday and even though I only ate about 1200 calories and worked my butt off packing all night, I was up 2 pounds this morning. Sodium. I retain water so easily. Speaking of weight, my scale.hasn't gone up anymore these last few days.
My friend and I drove to a small town in Mississippi to ride part of a trail that's part of the Great River Bike Trail (that might not be the exact name). The Great River Trail or whatever it's called is in several states, along the Mississippi River.
I was done 3 miles in. I'd read that the route was flat, but it was also the most boring ride ever. Nothing but cornfields on one side and grass and trees in the distance on the other. And a straight road that seemed endless. I also knew it was on a road (no bike lanes though) but didn't know the speed limit for cars got up to 55 mph. That part of the route is suppose to be family friendly. No way would I have my kids out there riding on that road. There weren't many cars, and the ones that did pass us kept more than enough distance between us and them, so at.least that was good.
Anyway, I don't think I'll be going back there. It's too far and too boring to me. We drove the rest of the loop we'd planned to do, just to see what it was like..... I did right to quit when I did. It was miles and miles of the same thing.

I'm down again .8 pounds to 176.4, but last night was pure h e l l. After 2 days of cleaning up my diet I thought that withdrawal headaches wouldn't be so severe when I stopped drinking coffee. Boy was I wrong. I thought since I'd cut back to just one cup a day for more than 6 months now that it wouldn't be so bad to stop cold turkey. After dinner I had a 6 hour migraine like headache. I wanted to vomit, I had some shakes, and had to fight the urge to consume massive amounts of sugar and caffeine.
I fell better this morning, not nearly as good as I did yesterday, but I'm going to take it easy today. In fact I don't think I am going to walk the dogs. I just have to keep reminding myself not to given in right now. I know I'll feel way better than I ever have in the next few days if I can just stick with what I am doing now.

10 days in & it's still hard I think I need more activity but I really only like walking and whitewater. No snow so minimal whitewater. ... not worth the cost bobosensei, caffeine is a drug for me. I can take up to 24 indomethacin per day or 130 MG caffeine. Opting for the coffee

I didn't ride my bike yesterday. I decided I probably needed to take a break. It doesn't look like I'll be riding today either. It's already rained pretty hard this morning and it's suppose to rain off and on all day today. Hopefully I'll be back in the saddle tomorrow.
Yesterday I went out for breakfast. Came home and got back in the bed. It's become obvious that that kind of breakfast zaps my energy. Since I rarely eat "real" breakfast food these days, I can tell the effect it has on me when I do eat it.

I met my mom at Olive Garden for lunch. We had soup, salad and bread sticks. I feel like I licked a salt lick. Ugh. I put it in my fitness pal and the sodium content was indeed ridiculous. Chasing it with lots of water now.

Sorry about the arthritis Pat. Good for you on the lower cholesterol. That's great news. I've been a lazy bum all day. It's been raining every few hours. At one point it hadn't rained in a couple hours, the sun was shining off and on and the streets had dried. I decided to see if I could get a ride in in my neighborhood before it started raining again. Got dressed and ready to roll out, opened the door and noticed the trees limbs across the street swaying in the wind. I looked at the weather and saw that it was suppose to be gusts up to 25mph. Decided I'm not skilled enough to tackle the hills and wind gusts or even wind gusts by themselves, so I put my gear away and sat back down. I should be well rested and able to get a good ride in tomorrow.

I am standing on the curb, watching the movers unpack our truck and my shorts are literally falling off of me. I can't put both my keys and my phone in my pockets or I can't keep my shorts up! Time to start checking on a smaller size! Win!

After 2 days off the bike, riding this morning felt great. We still stopped at 10 miles. We get it done a few minutes faster than when we first got to 10 miles, but he still doesn't want to ride past 10. I'm determined to go by myself tomorrow so I can ride as long as I want to.

I rode on the creepy trail by myself this morning. I rode 15.4 miles in an hour and 25 minutes. So now I know I can ride at least 15 miles on a good day without being exhausted.

All moved in! Averaging about 13-14k+ steps a day the last 3 days... And 20+ flights of stairs. We are on a 3rd floor walk up not instead of an elevator building.
Lots of unpacking to do... My whole body hurts, especially my feet and my back and I am tired but I am happy to be here and on the way to be settled in. The new neighborhood in gorgeous and EVERYONE jogs, so maybe I will pick that up again. At the very least DH and I can get in some long walks to do some exploring. Mostly, I am excited to get the kitchen squared away and cook again! Today we had burgers, mine turkey, half a bun and tonight I will have leftover stir fry, but tomorrow morning, I am off and plan to hit trader Joe's in the morning and throw a pork roast and veggies in the slow cooker. It is sad how much I am looking forward to that.
Haven't been drinking enough water. Going to unpack my water bottle for tomorrow so I can monitor my intake. I know I am retaining water like a mofo right now, gotta flush away that salt!
Kudos to everyone on their progress.
Pink- 15 miles! Go you!!!

Guys, I am seriously loving my new neighborhood! So beautiful! I took the dogger out for a walk despite the fact that my feet were killing me, we got a good mile and a half in, until poor dogger was panting pretty heavily. It is quite humid out, and he doesn't have quite the stamina he did years ago. I think I will give myself this week to get settled in to the new place and then maybe Saturday start jogging again. My chiropractor is also having free yoga on Monday nights during July. I plan to go to that for sure.
Time for dinner! Pork roast with onion, celery, New potatos, multicolored carrots, and peas. I am drooling just thinking about it!

sarcasticgirl, it's great that you're excited about your new neighborhood. I'm happy for you that you're loving it. Note to self..... do not ride your bike in the morning if you plan on mowing your yard that day. I doubt the mower really got heavier all of a sudden. If you must do both in the same day, mow the yard first. No one will know if you cut your bike ride short. It's obvious when you quit mowing the grass before you finish. I was hot, soaked with sweat and irritated working in my yard yesterday. Then the string kept jamming in my weedeater and I was tempted to chuck it in the garbage or at least fling it across the yard. That'll teach it! lol Instead, I put it and everything else back in the shed and called it a day. I didn't finish trimming the back yard and didn't even start doing anything in the front yard. I've hated that stupid weedeater since I bought it to replace my old one that had started leaking gas. If I were smart, I'd get off the computer now and go cut the front yard before it gets too hot. It's suppose to be 97 degrees today. I don't feel like being smart.

omg I don't know which one is driving me more nuts, my yard or all this freaking sweating. At this rate, I'll be in the yard all day if I have to keep stopping every 15 minutes because I'm sweating so much. Maybe I should cut the grass in my biking clothes so I won't have on heavy, soggy clothes. Then my neighbors will really think I've gone 'round the bend. I still have to finish cutting the front and pray the trimmer acts right so I can edge and trim it. And I really need to trim these thousands of boxwoods that I hate. They're all the way across the front and back of my house, except the porch and patio. I usually shape them with shears, but I don't have time for that today, if I get to it I'm using the electric hedge trimmer. I don't care if the shears are better for them. I hate 'em anyway. But they WON'T DIEEEEE! UGH! I am not happy right now! If I do all that, it should count as an extensive work out, cuz I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be sore. This yard is becoming a pain in my ass.

@pinkcshmere are there any kids in the neighborhood you can pay to do your lawn? It is summer, they have nothing better to do, right? That's what my parents do when they are too busy or when it gets too miserable out.
Be sure and keep hydrated!!!!!

Took a flying leap off my diet, straight into the last 1/3rd of a bucket of cheeto balls. DD was pissed this morning when she woke up and they were gone. And I am up 2.5lbs today, go figure. Hahah! Had my protein shake for breakfast and have a salad for lunch, with a greek yogurt for snack later. That should help balance things out a bit. Sheesh.
